One Piece: Starting from Awakening the Cosmo at Marineford

Chapter 139 Bargaining and Conferring the Rank of Major General

Aaron glanced at the new marines; each of them was full of vigor, their eyes filled with longing, and sparkling with a desire for justice and a firm belief in it.

Among these people were several female marines, and their faces held a unique expression.

Aaron said, "Enough with the small talk, the training ahead will be brutal. I'll be training with you every day from now on. My training intensity will be at least twice that of yours."

Sweating more in peacetime means less bloodshed when encountering pirates. If you can persevere to the end, you'll definitely become excellent marines.

Aaron donned the specially made weighted gear and took the lead, running laps around the playground.

Regardless of whether the people behind him could keep up, he ran wildly and quickly took the lead for a whole lap.

Spurred on, the new recruits also started running at full speed. After only two laps, they were already panting heavily, feeling like their lungs were about to explode.

Garp shouted from the side, "Pay attention to controlling your breathing rhythm!"

These new recruits then remembered the lessons Garp had taught them when they first entered the training camp.

In the end, each recruit completed the training and sat or simply lay down on the ground to rest.

Aaron wasn't exaggerating. He completed twice the amount of each task compared to an average marine, even while carrying an enormous amount of weight.

Karp nodded in satisfaction: "Aaron, thanks to your encouragement, these recruits are much more motivated and proactive. They've also become more passionate about training. If they can maintain this level of enthusiasm until they graduate, this year's recruits will be exceptionally outstanding!"

Aaron said, "Definitely. It's their honor to have your guidance. They would be fools if they didn't cherish it and seize this opportunity to train hard."

Bogart said from the side, "Aaron, you'll be here for more than half a year, so I'll take this time to hone your swordsmanship."

Aaron said, "Okay!"

And so, Aaron began his career as an "instructor" in New Marinford.

During the day, he trained like crazy with the hundreds of men in the recruit camp, and at night, he would practice swordsmanship with Bogart, or go to the beach alone to practice punching at the warships.

Despite saying that Aaron had already graduated, Karp would still watch Aaron practice his boxing often and offer pointers from time to time.

Aaron made rapid progress, and the new recruits also improved significantly, their bodies and minds were forged.

The childishness on their faces has faded, replaced by the steely aura unique to soldiers.

The female soldiers were equally heroic, with bright and piercing eyes.

They already held Aaron in the highest esteem as their instructor, regarding him as a spiritual leader like Karp.

A year has passed, the training camp has ended, and these new recruits have become veterans, waiting to be assigned to various branches to make up for the huge losses caused by the Marineford War two years ago.

Karp said, "Aaron, do you want to pick some people?"

Aaron said, "To be honest, I don't need too many people on my ship."

Garp said irritably, "I wanted you to take them on some missions so they could grow and improve!"

Aaron said, "Alright, I'll pick 10."

Garp's eyes widened: "Ten? That's too few, I'll give you a hundred!"

Aaron said, "You're forcing me into this! I've been their instructor for almost a year now, and it's been tough enough as it is, not to mention the hardships I've endured. Leading them on missions, I also have to ensure their safety!"

Garp said, "Even if you don't take them, they'll still have to go to other places to face pirates, and they'll be in danger just the same way."

Aaron said, "Twenty, no more than that."

Garp held out his right hand: "50!"

Aaron pursed his lips: "30!"

"45!"

Aaron felt a lump in his throat: "40! That's the final price!"

Garp chuckled: "40 it is!"

Aaron sighed helplessly, "Fine, I'll choose these people myself."

Garp said, "No problem! You can choose whichever you like after the conferment ceremony tomorrow!"

The next morning, Aaron put on his naval uniform and went to the training ground.

Akainu arrived at the scene and conferred ranks upon the new recruits.

These new recruits were equally excited to see the marshal.

Even Akainu's usually serious and cold face showed a rare smile.

Akainu didn't mind the trouble and made sure to confer ranks on them, distributing justice cloaks and shoulder insignia representing their military ranks.

Based on their performance throughout the year, they were promoted from second lieutenant to captain.

These people, draped in the cloak of justice, appear even more upright and imposing.

Aaron was very pleased to see this.

Akainu suddenly shouted, "Nell Aaron!"

"arrive!"

"On behalf of the Navy Headquarters, I hereby confer upon you the rank of Rear Admiral. Please step forward for the conferment ceremony!"

Aaron gave a military salute and stood ramrod straight in front of Akainu.

Akainu removed the epaulets from Aaron's cloak, personally pinned the red and blue epaulets of a major general on Aaron's head, and then saluted.

Akainu's voice softened: "Your one-year confinement period is over. You are free to move around now."

Aaron asked, "Should I go back to the original ship?"

Akainu replied, "Yes."

Aaron breathed a sigh of relief: "It's alright."

Akainu said, "Vice Admiral Garp said you should choose first, so go ahead and pick."

Aaron said, "Okay."

Aaron looked at the marine officers and shouted, "Those whose names are called, step forward!"

The marines immediately stood at attention.

Aaron had spent a year with these people and knew their names, personalities, and other backgrounds.

The eager sailors' faces clearly said, "Pick me! Pick me!"

Aaron quickly selected 40 people: 30 male soldiers and 10 female soldiers.

These people stood aside, already overjoyed.

Those whose names weren't called looked dejected and resentful.

Garp said, "Hey! Cheer up, everyone! As Marines, no matter where we are or what our position is, we are all shining brightly for peace and justice! Understand?"

All the new recruits stood at attention and saluted in unison: "Understood!"

Garp nodded: "Very good. Marshal Sakazuki, now please announce the appointments of these new recruits."

Akainu nodded, took a list from his assistant, and began to read it aloud.

Even though Garp had just said those words, these marines still hoped to be assigned to headquarters, or branches in the Grand Line or the New World, rather than to the relatively weaker areas of the four seas.

It took Akainu more than half an hour to finish assigning the remaining 400-plus people.

Looking at the marines who were already drenched in sweat, Akainu shouted, "Alright, you've shared a year of hardships in training camp and formed bonds. Cherish these last moments together. In a week, everyone will depart for their assigned posts!"

"yes!"

Garp said, "Congratulations, you've finally officially graduated! Attention! At ease! Dismissed!"
