It was already dusk when I returned to Miracle Workshop.

As dusk streamed through the workshop's glass windows, it bathed the interior in a pale red hue.

After X and Elena greeted Sophie, they went upstairs to rest, leaving only Angel and Sophie, the two fairies, downstairs.

Sophie was elegantly wiping the glass display case and lighting candles, her blonde hair flowing like honey in the candlelight.

At this moment, she was wearing a light purple dress, the hem of which swayed gently with her movements, showcasing her unique elegance at all times.

When she turned around, she immediately noticed Angel's unusual behavior.

"My dear Angel," Sophie put down the velvet cloth, her collar rising and falling slightly with the movement, "what have you been through today? It seems even the lace bow on your skirt is drooping."

She walked over, gently took Angel's hand, and traced soothing circles on the back of Angel's hand with her fingertips.

Angel's silver hair had lost its former fluffiness, and her blue eyes looked like misty glass beads, making her appear listless.

Her voice was much lower than usual: "Sister Sophie...we encountered something terrible today."

"Oh? Tell me about it, darling."

Sophie gently touched the necklace around her neck, a habitual gesture she made when she was thinking. Then she gracefully bent down to meet Angel's gaze, her eyes gentle.

Angel immediately poured out her story, like a kitten finding someone to confide in, from the beginning of the investigation to finding the "Beware of James" note in Lucy's apartment.

"The owner scribbled in the notebook with a pencil and saw the words 'Beware of James Wilson'! Then Officer James suddenly appeared and threatened to make us disappear if we continued the investigation!"

When James threatened her, she even mimicked his gloomy expression, gesturing wildly with her little hands in the air, which made Sophie cover her mouth and giggle.

After listening to everything, Sophie's brows furrowed slightly, and she lightly tapped her chin with her fingertips.

"Officer James... I feel like I've heard that name somewhere before." She pulled a small notebook from her cleavage, the gold pen scratching on the pages. "Honey, are you sure he hasn't shown any other unusual behavior?"

"Ah, isn't this already the biggest anomaly!"

Sophie then laughed again, indicating that it made a lot of sense.

Angel nodded vigorously, her silver hair swaying with the movement: "Yeah! He pretended to be very nice at first, just like Master said, an enthusiastic rookie policeman. But when he saw the words on that note, his expression suddenly changed! His eyes became so scary!"

"In short, he's obviously a bad guy!" Angel said with certainty.

Sophie felt there wasn't much left to record, so she casually left the notebook on a certain page, which recorded the workshop's business situation and customer preferences for the day.

Looking back through today's records, I found no trace of Wilson, so I closed the notebook.

She then remarked thoughtfully, "In London's aristocratic circles, the police are highly sought-after, and it's not surprising that there's cooperation between the police and the aristocracy. But James's behavior... reminds me of certain spies kept by the aristocracy."

"Huh!? A spy?"

"We all know James isn't a real policeman. Sheriff Doyle even said he was sent in by nobles..."

Sophie's voice was as crisp as champagne in a Vienna salon.

"A true gentleman would not use the threat of 'I'll make you disappear'—that's more like the language of a spies kept by the nobility."

She tucked the notebook back into her cleavage, her gaze sharpening.

"Officer James's behavior is highly problematic. He shows an unusually intense focus on the Caroline and Lucy case, a focus that goes beyond professional boundaries. In particular, he consistently believes Lucy is the culprit and remains firmly on Caroline's side..."

She gently stroked the necklace and continued her reasoning.

"This suggests that they likely belong to the same aristocratic faction."

"Factions?"

"Or to be more specific, they belong to the same noble family. James and Caroline are very likely serving the same noble family."

Angel nodded and interjected, "Understood! Just like my master and me!"

Sophie chuckled softly. "Yes, darling, it's like the relationship between a contractual master and a fairy. Except the relationship between the fairy Caroline, James, and that nobleman is much more complicated. Unlike yours, which is so pure."

"purely?"

"Don't worry, darling, this is just a compliment."

Sophie walked back to Angel's side and gently stroked her silver hair.

"That's why James is threatening you—your investigation is about to uncover a nobleman's secret."

"Oh! What should we do then?"

Angel asked eagerly.

"Of course, first we need to find out which nobleman he belongs to. Since he has already threatened you, you must find out his background... for your own protection and to find out the truth."

Sophie thought for a moment, then said directly, "How about... we follow him? No, that's too dangerous. He's a secret agent."

She paused.

"Therefore, a smarter approach is to investigate Caroline's interpersonal relationships. This will allow us to indirectly uncover the nobleman's background."

She walked to the display case and picked up an exquisite music box.

"Like this little mechanical box, every part has its origin. There are always clues. Start with Caroline's social circle... the cafes she frequents, the magazines she subscribes to, the salons she attends... these could all point to the aristocracy behind her."

Angel listened intently, her little head bobbing up and down as Sophie explained.

"Understood. So we need to start by investigating Caroline's background! That way we can indirectly find out about Officer James's origins!"

Seeing this, Sophie's lips curled into a sly smile: "That's a brilliant idea, my dear Angel. Your idea is absolutely correct."

"Ah, my idea? Wasn't that Sophie's idea?"

"Yes. But I still want to keep a low profile." Sophie nodded gently. "You did an excellent job today, discovering so many important clues. This idea is a little gift from your sister; take it to your master to show off."

"May I?"

"Of course, darling, you deserve it."

Upon hearing Sophie's praise, Angel's blue eyes immediately sparkled with excitement. She jumped up and down, saying, "Okay, I'll go tell Master right away!"

Like a cheerful little bird, she turned and ran upstairs: "Master, Master! I have a great idea!"

On the stairs, her little leather shoes made a crisp sound on the oak steps, and the lace petticoat under her skirt was faintly visible as she jumped.

Angel quickly pushed open the door to the second floor, panting, and said, "Master! Sister Elena! I know how to investigate James now!"

X and Elena were studying other documents when they heard Angel's words and looked up at the same time.

Ex put down the documents in his hand and asked gently:

"Oh? What brilliant idea has my angel come up with?"

Angel puffed out her little chest and said proudly, "We should investigate Caroline's social connections! She and James are definitely from the same aristocratic faction!"

Angel quickly explained her thought process. Of course, it was essentially a reiteration of Sophie's ideas.

A hint of surprise flashed in Elena's eyes, which then turned into approval.

"I didn't expect you to be so clever. This is indeed a very good direction, Angel. You did an excellent job today."

Ax smiled as well: "It's rare to see Angel getting smarter and smarter. Well then, we'll do as you say and start our investigation with Caroline's social circle."

When Angel heard the praise, she happily twirled around, her skirt blooming like a flower.

She ran to X's side and grabbed his hand: "Master, shall we start the investigation tomorrow? That Officer James is awful; we must uncover his secrets as soon as possible!"
