Chapter 22 Choosing a Knife
After finishing breakfast, Lin Sheng followed the address given to him by his master and arrived at a house.
The house was larger than any Lin Sheng had ever seen or lived in, even slightly smaller than his master's. There were some black marks on the outer courtyard wall.
Inside, there were constant clanging and loud talking sounds, and you could feel the intense heat just by standing outside.
Lin Sheng stepped forward and knocked on the door.
The door was opened, and first came the scorching heat, then a muscular man with a bare upper body came out, his body covered in sweat, and looked at Lin Sheng.
The man asked directly, "What is it?"
"I am Lin Sheng, a disciple of Liuyun Pavilion. I was introduced by my master to have a weapon made."
"From Liuyun Pavilion? Wait a minute."
After saying that, he closed the door.
Before Lin Sheng could react, he saw the door open again, and there was the same person, only now he was wearing a black vest.
"Come in, Mr. Tang is waiting for you."
As he entered, Lin Sheng not only felt an even hotter atmosphere, but also saw many burly men hammering iron felt with iron hammers, completely absorbed in their work.
There were many weapon prototypes around, and those that were suitable were taken down and processed. Baskets of coal were added to the furnace, and the ground was covered with carbon powder.
However, Lin Sheng sensed something different; the aura of these people was not quite right.
"His breathing was rhythmic, and the breath he produced was strong and powerful."
"Furthermore, the abdominal breathing is also incorporated, making the breath deep and long."
"It's somewhat similar to the Water Flowing Kung Fu."
When he was led to another courtyard, Lin Sheng saw a tall man standing in front of the iron felt with his back to him. The man was only wearing coarse linen trousers, and his broad back was covered with several terrifying scars, many of which extended to his wrists. His muscular back muscles formed a perfect triangle.
Lin Sheng felt that with that kind of size, he should be able to kill some weak demons with a single punch.
The other person was holding a large, fist-width sword, seemingly lost in thought.
The burly man spoke up: "Mr. Tang..."
"not enough!"
The sudden shout startled the two people behind him.
The man called Mr. Tang gripped the blade with one hand and the handle with the other.
With a "crack", the knife split in two.
Lin Sheng blinked, thinking to himself, "Such a big knife, it just breaks like that?"
"It's probably a quality issue; it's made too light."
Mr. Tang casually tossed the broken knife aside, and it made two heavy thuds on the ground, causing the floor to tremble slightly and dust to rise.
Lin Sheng remained silent, adjusting his attitude.
"Take it down, melt it down, and reforge it."
"Yes," the burly man beside him replied.
Then Lin Sheng saw the burly man struggling to drag away the two pieces of the broken sword.
Then Mr. Tang turned around, and Lin Sheng could see his face clearly. It was a rugged face with dark skin and scars, and the pupil of one eye was gray.
The other person had their hands in their pockets and was staring at him.
"I am..."
"No need, I know who you are. You're Lin Sheng, right? You were introduced by Liuyun Pavilion."
"Yes."
"My name is Tang Wenlong, and I'm the owner of this blacksmith shop. I heard your master sent you?"
He then sat down imposingly in a chair to the side, staring at Lin Sheng: "Is Su Ren your master?"
"Yes, I joined Liuyun Pavilion a month ago, and it was my master who taught me the cultivation method."
"I recently acquired a fine piece of material. My master said it's the perfect material to make into weapons."
"They also say this is the best blacksmith shop in the entire Hequan Town, and only by coming here can you avoid wasting the materials."
"They told me I absolutely had to hand it over to Master Tang to handle; no one else would do it."
Lin Sheng said without batting an eye.
Tang Wenlong raised an eyebrow and looked at him: "Is that really what Su Renzhen said?"
Lin Sheng nodded firmly: "Absolutely true."
"Come on! I know him perfectly well!"
"He's the only one in the whole town of Hequan who's good at taking advantage of me. I'm screwing him."
After catching his breath, he clicked his tongue and continued, "Do you have any proof of being a disciple?"
"Yes, my master gave it to me this morning."
As he spoke, he handed over the wooden plaque that his master had given him that morning as a symbol.
This is a rectangular wooden plaque that Su Ren gave to Lin Sheng at breakfast this morning. It's about the size of a palm, but the edges are smooth and the texture is comfortable.
The front of the wooden plaque features the character "林" (Lin) carved in vigorous strokes, while the back is decorated with a thunder pattern. Both the characters and the patterns are rendered with thick ink.
The token looked tiny in Tang Wenlong's large hand, but it was this tiny thing that made Tang Wenlong slap his forehead.
He muttered to himself, "Damn it, I should have never gone drinking back then."
"That old bastard got something on me and seized the opportunity to blackmail me."
Tang Wenlong tossed the item back to Lin Sheng and sighed helplessly, "Tell me, what kind of material is it? Let me see."
"Mr. Tang, this material is very hard. Even my master said it's extremely hard."
Tang Wenlong scoffed and curled his lip.
"What kind of discernment does that old bastard have? No matter how tough he is, how tough can he be? I have plenty of well-known materials out there."
He mentally grumbled as he took the bag of fabric, felt its firmness, and looked at Lin Sheng in surprise, saying, "It's quite firm."
"you do not say."
Open the cloth bag and take it out; under the sunlight, it displays a seven-colored halo.
"Glass Crystal!"
"It's quite big, and the condition is pretty good too!"
"Where did you come from?!"
Tang Wenlong held the glass crystal, examining it closely and repeatedly, his eyes shining like a tiger spotting its prey.
"On Mount Wuzhi, I guess I was just lucky..."
Lin Sheng told Tang Wenlong everything that had happened on Wuzhi Mountain. At first, he was normal, but when he heard that there was a Vajra of Liuli Mountain on the mountain, his reaction was completely different.
His eyes widened, filled with joy and longing.
"Okay, okay!!"
Tang Wenlong stood up and said "good" several times.
Lin Sheng didn't know what Tang Wenlong was doing, but judging from the other party's reaction, he knew that the weapon matter must have been settled.
Tang Wenlong paced back and forth in the courtyard, holding the glass crystal, deep in thought.
Suddenly he stopped and turned to look at Lin Sheng: "I've already made your weapon. You can choose any material you like. Your master definitely said you could choose whatever you like."
"Listen to your master, and I'll give you the best materials for whatever weapon you want!"
"I knew it! So that old bastard sent you here to lure me in."
"Have you decided what weapon you want?"
"Yes, I want a knife."
Lin Sheng nodded. He had already decided to learn swordsmanship when Su Ren said he was good at swordsmanship and talisman techniques.
Although there may be other avenues, one's own master would certainly do his best, and his senior brother even privately told him that his master's swordsmanship was truly divine.
"Okay! I'll make you a knife. Come inside and see if there's a style you like."
Tang Wenlong led Lin Sheng into the house, where numerous weapons were displayed: swords, axes, spears, hammers, whips, and so on. Each weapon gleamed with a cold light and was extremely sharp, clearly not ordinary.
Just as Lin Sheng was looking around in amazement, Tang Wenlong interrupted him while rummaging through his things: "Don't look down on these junk items that need to be recycled, yours are a hundred times better than this."
"Come here and pick what you like."
Tang Wenlong took out a book, dusted it off, and handed it to Lin Sheng. The book was titled "One Hundred Solutions to Weapons and Weapons".
Upon opening, you'll find various knife designs, all clearly and vividly drawn with paint and brushes, each labeled with its characteristics and descriptions.
Tang Wenlong chuckled and said, "Choose one, either one is fine."
This smile made Lin Sheng feel uneasy, as if he were the one being chosen.
