Huayu97: Starting with Wu Song Fighting the Tiger
Chapter 2 Getting beaten up was just right
"Where did this stinky security guard come from! Daring to meddle in Mr. Zhao's business!" Wang Ba roared as he rushed over, shoving Liu Xiang aside. "Get out of the way! Don't delay Mr. Zhao's business!"
Caught off guard, Liu Xiang stumbled from the shove. Wang Ba, seeing him as easy to bully, became even more emboldened and yelled to his henchmen, "Brothers, this kid dares to challenge Boss Zhao! Beat him up!"
Those lackeys, who usually freeloaded off Wang Ba, immediately surrounded him upon hearing this.
Liu Xiang wanted to make the first move, but having just transmigrated, her body hadn't adapted yet, and she slipped and almost fell on the spot!
At this point, the other party thought he was all show and bite him, some hitting his back, some hitting his arms, making him wince in pain.
Liu Xiang was a frail online novelist in her previous life; she had never suffered like this before.
However, his original muscle memory gradually awakened, and he began to fight back.
Wang Ba and his group were thoroughly beaten by Liu Xiang, and Zhao Shanhai frowned. He had originally intended to teach Li Tianming a lesson, but unexpectedly, this little security guard appeared and attracted this group of extras. He glanced at Wang Ba and his group with disgust, finding them too much of an eyesore.
"Stop!" Zhao Shanhai snorted coldly.
Then he gave his men a wink, showing that he didn't need thugs to back him up!
Those henchmen were all skilled fighters; they rushed forward and easily took down Wang Ba and his men with a few punches and kicks. Wang Ba was beaten black and blue, lying on the ground groaning, almost fainting.
Well! Karma came so quickly. Liu Xiang rushed over and kicked these people a few more times!
Zhao Shanhai found the security guard somewhat interesting but didn't intend to escalate the situation. He glanced at Wang Ba and spat in disgust, "You're utterly useless!"
After saying that, Zhao Shanhai looked at Li Tianming with a sinister gaze: "Teacher Li, this matter is not over."
Zhao Shanhai and his men left, cursing and swearing.
The sound of the Santana's engine faded into the distance and soon disappeared into the morning mist.
Li Tianming looked at Liu Xiang with a hint of apology on his face, and stepped forward to help him up: "Young man, thank you."
Liu Xiang gritted his teeth and straightened up, his back aching as if it were about to split open. He waved his hand, forcing a smile: "It's nothing, it's what I should do."
Team Leader Zhou quickly ran out of the duty room, helped Liu Xiang up, and saw that there was no injury on his face, but his back and arms were covered in bruises. He couldn't help but sigh: "You're a smart kid, you know how to protect your face."
The surrounding extras also gathered around, chattering amongst themselves. Some said Liu Xiang was bold, others said he was quite foolish, and still others said he was sure to be resented. Captain Zhou glared at them and shouted, "What are you still looking at? Disperse! If you keep crowding here, you'll never be allowed back into the Beijing Film Studio!"
The extras reluctantly dispersed, and the factory gate quickly returned to calm, leaving only Wang Ba and a few others lying on the ground groaning.
Team Leader Zhou called over two young security guards who helped Liu Xiang up: "Come on, let's get her to the infirmary first! This injury looks serious; we don't want it to develop into a chronic condition."
The infirmary was warmly heated and filled with a faint smell of disinfectant. Liu Xiang lay on the hospital bed as the doctor applied medicated wine to his skin. The cold wine made him shiver when it touched his warm skin, and he winced in pain, cold sweat beading on his forehead.
Team Leader Zhou sat on the chair next to him, looking at the injury on his back, shaking his head and sighing: "What were you thinking, kid? Do you think you can mess with Zhao Shanhai? He's got connections everywhere. Don't even mention a small security guard like you, some small directors have to watch their step."
Liu Xiang gritted his teeth and remained silent. He knew Captain Zhou meant well, but he didn't regret it. If he could do it all over again, he would still do the same thing.
Captain Zhou continued, "Do you think I don't know what you're thinking? You just want to be an actor, don't you? You're always squatting in the duty room reading scripts, staring at the actors outside with your eyes glued to them. But look at you now, if you get disfigured, forget about being an actor, nobody will even want you as an extra!"
These words struck a nerve with Liu Xiang. He remained silent, but his heart was in turmoil. In his previous life, his health had deteriorated drastically due to years of staying up late. In this life, he had finally acquired a healthy body, and he couldn't afford to let anything go wrong.
After bandaging Liu Xiang's wound, the doctor frowned and said, "Captain Zhou, this wound looks like a superficial injury, but his complexion is too bad. I'm afraid it's internal. We should take him to the hospital for an X-ray so as not to delay his treatment."
Team Leader Zhou nodded and immediately stood up: "Okay! I'll arrange a car right away and get him to Jishuitan Hospital! If anything really happens to this kid, how am I supposed to explain it to his distant relative?"
Several people hurriedly lifted Liu Xiang onto the factory's bread cart and rushed to the hospital. In Beijing's winter, the roads were covered in thick snow, and the car drove slowly, its wheels crunching over the snow. Liu Xiang lay on the back seat, watching the snow rushing past the window, her mind blank.
Upon arriving at the hospital, after registering and having X-rays taken, the doctor looked at the X-rays for a long time before finally breathing a sigh of relief: "No bones are broken, internal organs are not badly damaged, but there is some soft tissue contusion. You will need to stay in the hospital and rest for a few days, and avoid any strenuous exercise."
Captain Zhou breathed a sigh of relief and patted his chest: "Thank God! It's alright, it's alright!"
He went to register for hospitalization, leaving Liu Xiang to wait on a chair in the corridor. The corridor was bustling with people and quite noisy. Liu Xiang tried to rest with his eyes half-closed, but the pain from his injuries made it difficult for him to fall asleep.
Not long after, Liu Xiang was hospitalized, and of course, no one stayed to take care of her!
Just then, he heard a suppressed groan coming from the next bed. He opened his eyes and saw a middle-aged man leaning on a cane, trying to get up from the hospital bed, but because of the injury to his leg, he was wincing in pain and almost fell to the ground.
Despite the pain, Liu Xiang stood up and quickly went over to support him. The man was wearing a gray cotton-padded coat, and there was a worn-out travel bag next to him; he looked quite simple. His trouser legs were rolled up, revealing a section of his calf wrapped in gauze, which was still seeping blood.
"Brother, are you alright?" Liu Xiang asked softly as she supported him.
The man looked up at Liu Xiang, forced a smile, and said in a hoarse voice, "It's nothing, thank you, young man. The roads were slippery in the snow, I slipped and fell, and hurt my leg."
Seeing him sweating profusely from the pain, Liu Xiang quickly helped him sit back on the hospital bed: "Brother, why did you come to the hospital alone? Is no one with you?"
The man sighed, "I'm from out of town and don't know many people in Beijing. I came here to take care of some business, but I didn't expect to fall like this."
Liu Xiang's heart skipped a beat; judging from the man's demeanor, he didn't seem like an ordinary person.
"Brother, are you in the capital on business?" Liu Xiang continued to ask.
The man nodded. "Yeah, something came up. Young man, were you in a fight?"
Liu Xiang smiled and said, "It wasn't from a fight, I was beaten up on my own. Brother, my name is Liu Xiang, and like you, I came to the capital from out of town to make a living."
"My surname is Lei, you can just call me Lao Lei." The man smiled.
The two started chatting. Old Lei said he came from Wuxi and was in Beijing for a film crew matter. Liu Xiang's eyes lit up at the mention of a film crew, and she quickly asked what kind. Old Lei, however, remained mysterious, saying only that he would tell her when he had the chance.
Liu Xiang didn't ask any questions and sat with Lao Lei in the ward. Lao Lei's leg injury was very painful, and he frowned from time to time. Liu Xiang noticed this and offered to pour him hot water to drink, and even helped him get a hot water bottle from the nurses' station.
Old Lei looked at him gratefully, his heart warmed. He had been in the capital for the past few days and had only encountered cold shoulders; he hadn't expected a complete stranger to be so kind.
Over the next few days, Liu Xiang became Lao Lei's "dedicated caregiver." He helped Lao Lei get meals, changed his dressings, and chatted with him to keep him company. Lao Lei's leg injury gradually healed, and the two became friends.
Old Lei learned that Liu Xiang was a security guard at the Beijing Film Studio and harbored a dream of becoming an actress. Liu Xiang also learned that Old Lei was a director who had made a few small films and that he had come to Beijing to do something big.
That day, Old Lei's leg injury had improved considerably, and he was able to walk slowly with crutches. He looked at Liu Xiang and said with a smile, "Liu Xiang, thank you for taking care of me these past few days. Let me treat you to a meal as a token of my gratitude."
