Jiang Xu glanced indifferently at the two male insects: "So, only the two of you from the Jiang family of the South have come?"

He glanced around and recognized many of the insects; most of them were originally nobles of the Eastern Insect Clan.

"Hey, Jiang Xu—" Bernd saw Jiang Xu before he could, and nudged Zoe beside him. "Let's go."

"You've come too?" Jiang Xu coldly looked at the insects that were walking towards him. He recognized three of them, and there was one left.

His gaze fell on the unfamiliar female insect.

The female insect caught his gaze, scoffed, and walked over to Fei beside her, saying, "Brother Fei."

"........." A look of astonishment flashed in his eyes as he glanced at the two female insects beside him, then at Zoe.

Seeing his expression, Bernd smiled smugly: "This time, I found out before you did."

He never expected that these two insects would get together, and he had clearly heard before that Zoe was going on blind dates.

"Don't overthink it." Zoe glanced at Bernd indifferently, stopping him from lying, before explaining to Jiang Xu, "We just happened to run into this female insect, so we invited her to come along."

Jiang Xu coldly examined Zoe's face; she didn't seem to be lying.

However, this is only true if he is completely unfamiliar with the other person.

"Hmm," Jiang Xu responded, without saying whether he believed it or not.

But the two insects seemed to be of one mind, understanding each other perfectly.

"Why are you all here too?" Jiang Xu looked around and saw that many of them were the male insects they usually gathered together.

When Jiang Mian informed him, he thought there would only be a few insects, but unexpectedly a whole bunch of insects appeared in the hall.

"Isn't this an invitation from you two gentlemen?" Bernd raised his glass, toasting the two insects not far away. "I've heard you two come from the same family, is that true?"

He asked Jiang Xu with great curiosity.

"........." Jiang Xu saw the curiosity in his eyes and was slightly speechless: "Hmm."

He only found out about it himself.

"So it really is." Bernd said, and was about to go forward to greet the two male insects when Jiang Xu grabbed him by the collar.

"???" Bernd looked at him in confusion.

Jiang Xu's attention, however, was entirely focused on the hand holding his collar. He frowned slightly and withdrew his hand: "I'm not familiar with them."

"Huh?" Bernd paused for a moment, then suddenly remembered the scene when Zoe talked to Jiang Xu when he returned from the south, and nodded subconsciously: "Right, I forgot that you don't have any contact with them."

Zoe glanced at Bernd, somewhat speechless at the bug's thought process; it wasn't exactly a secret among them.

This made my head spin.

He reached out and hooked his arm around Jiang Xu's neck, pulling him slightly to the side. He glanced at Fei behind him, then withdrew his hand and asked in a low voice, "Did you two have a fight?"

As soon as the two insects entered, he sensed that the atmosphere between them was somewhat strange.

Previously, no matter where Jiang Xu went, the female insect would subconsciously look in his direction.

Today, since they came in, the only time the two insects have exchanged glances is when they were talking.

"No." Jiang Xu glanced at him; this insect was still so quick-witted. "Some things have happened these past few days, and he might be under a lot of psychological pressure."

"Really?" Zoe asked uncertainly after hearing the vague answer.

"Hmm." Jiang Xu thought for a moment, then changed the subject, asking, "Were you also notified by the Imperial Court to come here?"

"Who says otherwise?" Zoe glanced speechlessly at the two male insects who were handling the situation with ease. "I don't know what's gotten into these insects from the Jiang family in the south, that they've come all the way to the east to befriend us."

He paused for a few seconds and then said, "I have a feeling that something big is going to happen."

Especially after Jiang Xu told him that a mutated beast had recently been discovered, he felt somewhat uneasy.

Moreover, this unpleasant feeling is getting stronger and stronger.

Jiang Xu sensed Zoe's unease and said in a deep voice, "Don't worry too much, just take precautions in advance."

He had heard some things about the deductions made by Jiang Mian regarding the human Jiang Xu, but the information was not complete.

He wished he could meet the other person someday so he could ask them about their reasoning.

"That's what I think too." For these nobles, if any major upheaval were to occur, preserving their own family would be of paramount importance.

"How do we protect ourselves?" Bernd was a little out of sync with the two insects, and seeing their brief discussion, he quickly asked.

"Don't you have bugs?" Zoe glanced at him. "Do you need to ask us?"

"......." Just one sentence, and the other party still holds a grudge. Bernd's face fell, and he looked at Zoe with disdain: "Do you want to bring up your cub days again and settle the score?"

childish!!!"

"Uh." Zoe looked at Bernd in surprise, then reached out and covered his head with her hand. "Tsk, the kid's all grown up."

Bernd was taken aback by the inexplicable sigh, then lazily uttered two words: "Boring."

Zoe smiled slightly: "Be careful when you walk home these days. You might get a sack full of bugs."

"Who dares?" Bernd rolled his eyes at him; his female general was no pushover.

At this point, he seemed to remember something and looked at Jiang Xu: "I heard from outside that your application for a female consort was approved the day before the registration office closed for the New Year holiday?"

I haven't had a chance to congratulate you yet.

He hadn't heard about these things during the Lunar New Year gathering; he thought it would have to wait until after the New Year.

A hint of surprise flashed in Jiang Xu's eyes. After a few seconds of silence, he said, "Yes. Thank you."

Bernd recalled that a lot had happened during the time Jiang Xu had been married to that female insect.

"Speaking of which, in just a few months, you and that female insect you used to hate have actually become a couple. It's... quite novel." Bernd said with a faint smile.

"I remember you liked him a lot too." Jiang Xu looked at him, then poured cold water on his enthusiasm, coldly uttering a few words: "Do you still like him now?"

"You can't say that." Bernd was startled and glanced at the female insect behind him: "I am an insect with a female lord."

"I'm going to get angry if you say that."

Jiang Xu gave a cold "heh". The bug that had previously encouraged him to make the bet was now acting like a good-natured bug at home. Strange things happen every year, and this year it happened in his house!

"The male father—" Jiang Yi, somewhat bored after listening to the two female insects talk for a while, interjected, "Does this naughty insect like its female father?"

Jiang Xu and the other insects were trying to keep their voices down, but the little insect didn't care. His childish voice was clearly heard by all the other insects around him.

"Is that so?" Jiang Baiyou, always eager for gossip, looked up at Jiang Xu and the other two insects.
