Chapter 223 Unable to Sleep Peacefully
The midday sun in early spring is neither as cold as in winter nor as hot as in summer; a light sweater or cardigan is just right.
The bright sun shone on several insects on the street, their handsome and extraordinary appearance causing the insects passing by to slow down their pace.
"Where exactly are you going?" Jiang Xu looked at the insects opposite him with a grim expression. "If you change your destination again, I think I can go home for the day."
From the moment they received these insects, they changed destinations no less than five times in just two hours.
"I don't have the patience to play your nonsense." Even the warmth of the bright sun couldn't compare to the icy chill emanating from him at that moment.
"Tsk." Jiang Baiyou looked at him warmly and said gently, "This is our first time in the East, so we want to see everything. We didn't mean to make things difficult for you."
"If you really don't want to, we can go back first. We can think it over tonight and make another appointment tomorrow?" Jiang Baiyang chimed in.
These words made it sound as if Jiang Xu was the only one among these insects deliberately making things difficult for them.
Jiang Xu saw through the other party's thoughts at a glance—was he trying to advance by retreating?
Will he get what he wants?
Obviously not!
He couldn't be bothered with the insects anymore, glanced at Fei Ni beside him, and turned to leave alone.
It seems no one expected that he would actually leave.
Fei looked at the astonishment on the faces of the insects, and a flash of pleasure quickly crossed his eyes.
He bowed to the insects and said, "Gentlemen, I presume you know your address. We'll take our leave now."
No sooner had he finished speaking than Jiang Xu's slightly impatient voice came from not far behind: "Aren't you coming?"
Fei bowed to the insects again and quickly ran towards Jiang Xu's direction.
Only a few insects remained, staring at each other in bewilderment.
Looking at the two insects that had already disappeared from sight, Jiang Baiyang chuckled, his eyes full of interest: "Interesting."
He found Jiang Xu even more interesting than before, even though it had only been a few months.
He tilted his head slightly and asked the insect behind him in a low voice, "Have you recorded all the addresses we visited today?"
"I've got it." The insect behind him quickly stepped forward and replied in a low voice.
"Okay." Jiang Baiyang turned and walked towards the direction where the aircraft was parked. "Let's go back too."
"?" Jiang Baiyou followed, puzzled. He glanced around and asked in a low voice, "Are we just going back like this?"
Jiang Baiyang glanced at him sideways and warned, "Don't do anything unnecessary that would ruin our previous plan. Be careful not to overdo it and end up in a mess."
Jiang Baiyou pursed his lips: "I know, the big picture comes first."
"Hmm, let's continue tomorrow. If we keep dawdling like this today, I doubt Jiang Xu will want to take us sightseeing again tomorrow." One shouldn't go too far; it's best to stop when the time is right. A cold glint flashed in Jiang Baiyang's eyes.
Back home, the two insects sat quietly on the living room sofa, neither of them speaking.
The difference was that one insect frowned slightly, as if pondering something; while the other simply sat quietly to the side, its gaze fixed on the first insect.
Looking at the food on the table that was almost cold, Wenxi said helplessly, "Gentlemen, why don't you finish eating first and then think about it?"
If this continues, it'll be getting dark soon.
The male insect, which hadn't eaten all day, let out a rumbling sound from its stomach, just as expected.
A barely perceptible hint of embarrassment flashed in Jiang Xu's eyes. Without saying a word, he got up and walked straight to the dining table.
He subconsciously walked to a seat and sat down, the movement so practiced as if he had done it countless times before.
However, at this moment, his attention was more focused on the plate in front of him.
"Beef?" He looked at Wenxi with some doubt, then turned his head and glanced at the winter melon meatballs on the table.
How did this insect know he liked to eat these things?
Before he could ask, Wenxi, seeing the surprise on his face, explained, "It was Brother Fei who asked me to make it, saying you like these two dishes."
Jiang Xu turned his head somewhat blankly to look at the female insect who had sat down next to him, and asked doubtfully, "Did you ask Grandfather?"
His favorite foods weren't exactly a secret, but today was clearly the first time he'd dined with this insect, and yet the insect had precisely prepared his favorite dishes.
In the past, when he ate at the Jiang family's house, his father-in-law would always mix different dishes to prevent him from being a picky eater.
Over time, it became a habit, and other insects rarely knew his preferences accurately.
A hint of surprise flashed in Fei's eyes.
He had indeed informed the Lord of Wenxi of his preferences beforehand, and today Wenxi simply prepared the meal according to his Lord's tastes.
Unexpectedly, the male insect also happened to like it.
"No." Fei lowered his eyes, reached for the utensils, and slowly began to eat.
Jiang Xu seemed unusually tolerant of the insect's "disrespect" today.
He didn't mind that Fei had started eating first; he just looked at Fei with a complicated expression for a while before picking up his utensils and starting to eat.
Apart from the soft clinking of cutlery, there was no other sound on the dining table.
Dinner ended quietly in this peaceful atmosphere.
As night approaches, it's time to go to sleep.
Wenxi had already taken the insect cubs to the second bedroom, and Jiang Xu couldn't very well go and fight with them for a bed.
After thinking it over, he realized that he and Fei had at least slept in the same bed twice, so he wasn't too awkward about it.
After making up his mind, he returned to the master bedroom. After taking a shower and coming out of the bathroom, he found that the room lights had been turned off, with only the bedside lamp still on.
Jiang Xu groped his way to the bedside and sat down. He saw that there were still three quilts on the bed and breathed a sigh of relief.
After lying down, he glanced at the insect beside him, whose breathing had become steady, and pulled a blanket over himself.
Before closing my eyes, I took a final look at the blanket in the middle that served as a "dividing line" before finally falling asleep.
Inside the room, the steady breathing of the two insects alternated.
Fei suddenly opened his eyes only when the street outside the window fell completely silent.
He stared at Jiang Xu quietly for a moment, then stretched out his uncovered hand from under the covers and gently placed it on the male insect's face.
Perhaps because his face was too itchy, Jiang Xu, still half asleep, raised his hand to grasp the mischievous hand and slowly opened his eyes.
He turned his head to look at the female insect beside him, his voice hoarse from just waking up: "Aren't you going to sleep?"
"Master." Fei called softly as he looked at the awakened male insect.
"Mmm." Jiang Xu responded, and as he closed his eyes, he added softly, "Go to sleep early."
The conversation was perfectly ordinary, yet Fei couldn't stop smiling.
He lifted the corner of Jiang Xu's blanket, rolled over, and lay down on Jiang Xu's chest.
"My lord." He tilted his head slightly, gazing at that familiar face.
"Speak," Jiang Xu replied wearily.
"hold me."
As soon as he finished speaking, Jiang Xu, who had been keeping his eyes closed, opened them again, glanced groggily at the insect in his arms, rubbed his chin against the top of the insect's head, and then pulled the insect into a tight embrace.
Fei obediently pressed her face against Jiang Xu's body, but after a moment, she felt that her clothes were in the way.
After hesitating for a few seconds, he reached out and loosened the tightly tied belt. Their two warm bodies pressed tightly together, and Fei felt an extraordinary sense of security at that moment.
The rustling and rubbing sounds in the room gradually stopped, and Jiang Xu prepared to fall asleep peacefully.
However, some insects didn't seem to want him to sleep so peacefully.
The insect in his arms suddenly stirred, its body pressed tightly against his, slowly rubbing against him. Jiang Xu felt the insect slowly moving downwards along his body...
