"Your Excellency, good day." Lan, the commander of the front line, quickly walked up to Jiang Xu and saluted him: "Thank you for the Jiang family's support for this campaign."

"When the country is in trouble, every citizen has a responsibility. You are all fighting on the front lines, so shouldn't we do our part as well?" Jiang Xu replied politely, then glanced around at the insects, but didn't see any familiar figures.

"You're looking for Major General Fei?" Lan immediately understood Jiang Xu's intention and explained, "We didn't know that Your Excellency would be accompanying us, so I didn't inform Major General Fei."

He should be resting under that low wall at the camp right now.

"Okay." Jiang Xu responded, "All the military supplies provided this time are here. Send your insects to make contact."

"Okay," Lan replied, then continued, "I'll have Chong take you to see Major General Fei."

Seeing that he didn't respond, Jiang Xu asked instead, "That low wall ahead?" He nodded toward the faintly visible ruins.

"Yes." Lan knew he meant she had to go find it herself.

"Thank you." Jiang Xu started walking towards the ruins, but stopped after a few steps. He took out a new communicator from his outer pocket, turned around and handed it to Lan: "Bernder asked me to bring this to you."

Without waiting for the other person to pause, he handed the box directly to them and continued walking towards his destination.

Jiang Xu walked very slowly, and living in a peaceful era, he once again felt the desolation and cruelty of the battlefield.

Every female soldier in the barracks had bandages wrapped around her body, which showed how difficult this battle was.

"Father, is this what war is like?" Jiang Yi's soft voice rang out at his feet.

Jiang Xu glanced at him, then reached out his hand, and the little insect immediately cooperated by placing its tiny hand in his.

"Yes, this is the battlefield." He led the insect cub forward.

"I don't like fighting." After a while, the insect suddenly spoke up, "They're all injured and bleeding. I don't like being injured and bleeding; it hurts."

"Yeah, I don't like war either."

The appearance of a male insect and a female offspring on the battlefield is quite a miraculous phenomenon.

Every time Jiang Xu walked a certain distance, insects would look at him. Occasionally, when their eyes met, the insects would stop and give him a military salute.

"Where are the male father and the female father? I can't see him." As the low wall drew closer, Jiang Yi craned his neck, searching for Fei.

Jiang Xu didn't see it either. He released the excited little insect and said, "Keep looking."

"it is good."

The insect, having released its grip, took off running, with Jiang Xu following leisurely behind.

Jiang Yi huffed and puffed as he ran from one end of the wall to the other, but still couldn't see Fei. So he shouted loudly to Jiang Xu, "Father, still not here!"

Fei, who was leaning against the wall, suddenly paused. He turned to look at Wenxi beside him: "Did you hear the insect cub's voice?"

"Huh?" Wen west noticed Fei's mouth opening and closing, took out her earplugs, and asked, "Brother Fei, what did you just say?"

Fei paused for a moment, then said, "Never mind, maybe I misheard."

Perhaps he missed the baby insects too much.

Jiang Xu walked to Jiang Yi's side, intending to turn back and look again to see if they had missed anything.

But as soon as he took a step, he heard a familiar voice beside him.

A smile flashed in his eyes; this was something that came without any effort.

His leg suddenly changed direction, and he walked to the low wall and looked down. The shadow under the wall just happened to cover two insects.

He smiled faintly and quietly looked at the female insect beneath him.

Wenxi looked at Fei with a puzzled expression. Fei had said something to him, but when he asked, Fei refused to say anything.

Speechless, he watched Fei close his eyes again, put the earplugs back in his ears, and a long shadow loomed over their location.

He looked up and, upon seeing Jiang Xu, was visibly stunned.

Jiang Xu looked at the female soldier staring at him with wide eyes, put his index finger to his lips, and watched her nod in response, seemingly in a daze.

He smiled and then turned his gaze to the female insect under the wall in front of him.

Looking at the bandages wrapped around the female insect's limbs and abdomen, fresh bloodstains still seeped through them.

He knew then that the insect was lying to him again.

Jiang Yi ran around for a while but still couldn't find Fei. He then turned around and ran to Jiang Xu's side, where the low wall completely blocked his view.

"Male father, I couldn't find female father." Jiang Yi looked at Jiang Xu breathlessly, his little hands wiping the sweat from his forehead.

As soon as he finished speaking, the female insect by the wall opened its eyes again. Just as he was about to turn around and ask Wenxi, he realized that a dark shadow was covering him.

He subconsciously looked up, his half-closed eyes gradually widening as he stared at the familiar face before him, his mouth slightly agape.

"A mighty ruler."

"Huh—" Jiang Yi's eyes lit up when he heard Fei's voice. He grabbed Jiang Xu's body and scrambled up the wall, finally finding his "father figure": "Wow—father figure, I've finally found you!"

Looking at the two faces, one big and one small, Fei seemed to wake up from a dream, quickly reacted, and stood up.

Seeing this, Jiang Xu chuckled softly, "Did I disturb you?"

"No," Fei replied anxiously and nervously, "Why are you here?"

"If you don't come, how will you know exactly how much 'a little bit' you mean?" Because the female insect had stood up, Jiang Xu could see more clearly: "Does it hurt?"

"No..." Fei looked at Jiang Xu's indifferent eyes, swallowed back the words "It doesn't hurt," and honestly answered, "It hurts."

"Pain teaches us a lesson." Jiang Xu picked up the baby insect from the low wall. "Alright, now that we've seen the female parent, we can go back."

Everything happened so fast that Fei didn't even have time to react. He stared in astonishment at Jiang Xu turning and leaving, and without thinking, he chased after him.

Only Wenxi, who had watched the whole thing from under the low wall, remained. He realized that this male insect could really easily control Fei.

When Fei couldn't see, his gaze was so gentle it could melt everything; but the moment Fei opened his eyes, his expression changed so fast it couldn't be caught by the speed of light.

"Fine," Wenxi shook her head, "let them be. They're enjoying themselves, and nobody can say anything about it, right?"

He put his earplugs back in and closed his eyes.

Fei quickly caught up with Jiang Xu, cautiously grabbing his sleeve, and asked timidly, "My lord, are you angry with me?"

Jiang Xu stopped in his tracks, looking at the other person's hand cautiously tugging at his sleeve, and said calmly, "Why am I angry?"

"I..." Fei thought for a moment and said, "I don't know."

Jiang Xu laughed in exasperation; it seemed the other party was used to admitting their mistakes first.

Seeing that Jiang Xu was about to leave again, Fei tightened his grip even more: "I shouldn't have told you that I only suffered a minor injury."

"Hmm," Jiang Xu looked straight at him and continued, "Anything else?"

"Anything else?" Fei was taken aback, realizing that he didn't seem to have anything else he was hiding from him. He looked at Jiang Xu with a puzzled expression.

Seeing his expression, Jiang Xu realized he had clearly forgotten something, so he patted Jiang Yi's little bottom and said, "Tell your father-in-law what he did wrong."
