From a country cook to a master chef
Chapter 70: The Black-Armored Monster
The moment the rift in the sky appeared, the Taoist gave a soft shout and joined forces with the cultivators from the five sects to make their move again. Each of them used their magical artifacts as a medium, and wherever their finger imprints passed, streaks of spiritual light shone.
Six strands of magical power of different colors converged, like a rainbow evolving into a gate, constructing a stable passage in that dark space.
"The spatial barrier has been opened; disciples from the six sects are preparing to enter the Netherworld Ghost Land."
The Taoist's voice was like a booming bell, and the cauldron-shaped magic weapon in front of him spun incessantly, its golden light leaping and occasionally conjuring up a lifelike spotted leopard.
The six magical artifacts stood guard over each other, forming a hexagonal shape, and their power was astonishing, drawing exclamations of wonder from the disciples of the six sects below who were prepared.
"Remember, you only have nine days. After nine days, we will try to tear apart the spatial barrier again and set up a teleportation array to receive you."
"Remember to keep the teleportation talisman safe. If this talisman is lost, we will not be able to sense your location, and the teleportation array will be unusable. If you miss it, you will be trapped inside for sixteen years."
As soon as the Taoist finished speaking, beams of light descended from the sky, enveloping the disciples of the six sects and ten disciples of Tianwu Mountain, including Lin Jue.
The next second, everyone felt their feet lighten and their bodies were lifted into the air, heading towards the spatial rift in the sky.
Everyone was extremely nervous, and they couldn't stop swallowing.
Lin Jue was positioned at the rear of the group, his eyes fixed on the empty, dark, unknown land ahead.
In his view, the disciples of the six sects in front of him disappeared completely as soon as they entered the crack, as if they were swallowed by darkness.
Lin Jue took a deep breath. As his body entered the dark space before him, before he could see his surroundings clearly, a blinding light struck him.
Under the intense light, Lin Jue subconsciously closed his eyes. After a long while, he slowly opened them and was greeted by a series of magnificent and imposing islands.
His location was above a sea area, with surging waves below.
Lin Jue was protected by a light shield formed by the magic power of the teleportation array, which prevented him from falling into the sea.
"Why am I the only one here? Where is everyone else?"
After taking in his surroundings, Lin Jue was filled with shock.
Nearly fifty people from the six sects and Tianwu Mountain entered the Netherworld Ghost Land this time, but there was not a single person beside him at this moment.
Just as Lin Jue was filled with doubt and wondering what had happened, the light shield around him shattered and dissipated into starlight.
Before Lin Jue could even realize what was happening, he immediately lost his balance and plummeted from the sky, crashing into the sea and creating a huge splash.
The icy seawater instantly filled his nostrils, and a feeling of suffocation immediately overwhelmed him. Lin Jue remained calm, determined his direction, and swam vigorously toward the surface of the sea. As soon as he surfaced, he greedily inhaled a breath of fresh air.
Before long, he swam to the nearest beach and, dragging his heavy body, slowly walked towards the area where the tide wouldn't reach him.
As his strength was exhausted, his movements became increasingly sluggish, and he had no choice but to sit down and rest under a coconut tree for a while.
call!
Lin Jue sat down and let out a long sigh of relief. After calming himself down a bit, he took out two steamed buns from his storage bag and began to eat them in large bites.
But just then, he suddenly heard some strange, babbling conversation coming from the woods behind him.
These people's accents were not like those of the Dawu official, nor were they the same as those of the Wushan monks he had once encountered by chance.
Lin Jue's expression hardened, and in his alarm, he immediately hid himself in the dense grass nearby.
Suddenly, a dark shadow approached from afar, seemingly rushing towards him. As it drew closer, he could see more clearly that the shadow was an indescribable, strange creature.
It has silver horns on its head, is covered in black armor, and has scarlet eyes that flash with eerie lightning.
Lin Jue was startled and was about to get up to avoid it when he saw the monster turn around and charge straight into the forest.
A bloodcurdling scream came from the forest, so piercing and chilling that Lin Jue felt a chill run down his spine and gasped.
It turned out that the monster's target was not him, but an unknown person with a peculiar accent in the forest.
Just as Lin Jue was pondering whether to go and help, two more piercing screams echoed from the forest, filled with endless terror and pain.
Lin Jue was horrified. Just as he was about to turn away, he looked up and saw a delicate body hurtling towards him.
With a muffled thud, the woman's body pressed heavily onto Lin Jue. He instinctively tried to push her away, but unexpectedly grabbed two soft spots. This startled Lin Jue, who had been tense all along, and he quickly withdrew his hands.
But this brought the two of them even closer, their bodies enveloped in warmth and fragrance, so close that the woman's lips inadvertently brushed against his cheek.
Lin Jue was able to determine that this person was not a disciple of the Six Sects.
The woman woke up with a start, and in her panic, she realized that there was someone lying on top of her.
Seeing that it was a strange man, she was about to get up when he grabbed her and hugged her tightly, saying, "If you want to live, don't move."
"..."
Upon hearing this, the woman did not move. At that moment, a few feet away from the two, the black monster was tearing apart several corpses lying on the ground.
After an unknown amount of time, the monster's figure disappeared, and the two finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Lin Jue looked at the woman and met a pair of bright, clear eyes. She looked to be quite young.
The woman's breathing quickened, and her voice trembled slightly as she asked, "Who are you?"
"You can speak Dawu Mandarin?"
Lin Jue's heart skipped a beat. He was quite surprised to hear a familiar accent from the woman.
"Who exactly are you?"
The woman had a beautiful voice. Only after she finished speaking did she realize that she was on top of a strange man. Her heart was pounding, her cheeks were flushed, and she got up and moved away shyly.
Fearing the monster might not have gone far, the two dared not make too much noise, and squatted down in the grass, curiously observing each other.
This space is quite different from the Great Martial Realm. Although it is the dead of winter, the weather is hot, so the women are dressed very lightly, barely covering their private parts with cloth.
"Where are you looking?"
The woman noticed the strange look in Lin Jue's eyes and glared at him angrily.
"Don't misunderstand, young lady. I was just worried about whether you were hurt."
Lin Jue gave a wry smile. The woman in front of him didn't have fair skin; she had a bronze complexion, a high nose, full lips, and delicate features. She reminded him of the Antelope Princess; they were practically identical.
Upon hearing this, the woman gave a soft snort and said nothing more, choosing to believe Lin Jue's explanation.
When their bodies were pressed together, she could feel that the man's private parts were not aroused. He was a gentleman. Although she was embarrassed and annoyed, she could not lash out. After all, if it weren't for him, she would probably have become the monster's food.
"My name is Gulimina, and those are my people. Thank you for saving my life."
After a moment of silence, the woman suddenly began to introduce herself.
Lin Jue clasped his hands in a salute and said, "I am Lin Jue, a native of Dawu."
Considering that he was currently in the Netherworld, Lin Jue pondered for a moment and quietly inquired:
"This place is a ghostly realm. Do you know what that monster from earlier was?"
