The school bell rang for the afternoon break.

Zhang Han mingled in the crowd pouring out of the teaching building. He asked a few well-informed friends and easily found out which classroom the football team captain, Jack Davis, was in.

After all, as a prominent figure at River Valley Academy, Jack's whereabouts were not a secret.

Sure enough, he saw Jack Davis in a classroom at the end of the corridor on the third floor of another teaching building.

Not just Jack, but also his blonde girlfriend who was the captain of the school cheerleading team.

The two were sticking together, oblivious to everyone else.

Jack was leaning against the wall, his hot girlfriend, dressed in a cheerleader's skirt, practically clinging to him, tilting her head back for a kiss.

Jack's hand also grabbed his girlfriend's headlights without any hesitation.

Zhang Han paused, a surge of intense disgust and jealousy rising in his stomach.

It's happening again!

These gorillas, whose brains are all about muscles, can easily gain attention and affection by running and jumping around on the field.

They don't even know how to behave in broad daylight!

This is utterly disgraceful!

He took a deep breath, forced himself to suppress his emotions, and forced out what he thought was a friendly, even slightly ingratiating, smile before walking over.

"Hey, Captain Jack? Excuse me, can I bother you?"

Zhang Han deliberately raised his voice to make sure he could stop the two from their ecstatic state.

Jack stopped moving and turned his head away impatiently.

His face still showed displeasure at being interrupted from their intimate moment.

His girlfriend also frowned and gave Zhang Han a disapproving look.

But she didn't loosen her grip on Jack's neck.

Jack looked Zhang Han up and down, his eyes filled with wariness and a hint of barely perceptible contempt.

Of course he recognized the young Chinese man.

Those who stayed at the University of Tokyo, well, those who know, know.

This guy is the famous rich kid in school. He seems to have good grades, but he never really interacts with anyone in the sports world.

"What's up?"

Jack's tone was aggressive, clearly indicating he didn't want to talk any further.

"I'm Zhang Han, a senior in high school, in the same grade as you."

Zhang Han stepped forward, trying to appear relaxed and casual, as if he were an instant friend.

"Well, you know, I've always followed the River Valley Academy rugby team, and I especially admire your leadership on the field."

"To be honest, I think you're the real brain and core of the team, the most awesome one. So I've always wanted to find an opportunity to get to know you and make friends."

Upon hearing this, Jack frowned even more deeply and pursed his lips.

This sudden, almost fawning admiration sounded ridiculously fake to him.

If you really admire someone, why didn't you admire them in your junior and senior years of high school?

You're almost graduating from your senior year of high school, and you're only now starting to admire me?

To paraphrase a quote from Dongda University.

Those who offer unsolicited favors are either treacherous or thieves.

What good could possibly come of it?

Jack wasn't stupid, so he didn't reply.

He just looked at Zhang Han with a "get it straight" look.

Zhang Han also felt awkward.

He quickly gave a dry laugh and got to the point:

"Hey Jack, tonight I booked a small venue at the Flame Bar next to the school and invited quite a few... well, girls from the nearby community college and art school. They're all pretty outgoing and fun-loving. Considering how hard Captain Jack and the core members of the team train and how much pressure they're under, how about we go relax together?"

"Of course, you don't need to worry about the cost. Since I'm the one who organized this party, I'll cover all the expenses and provide plenty of drinks to ensure everyone has a great time."

The keywords "bar," "girls," and "having a great time" immediately come to mind.

Before Jack could speak, his girlfriend, who was clinging to him, immediately pouted, poked Jack's chest with her finger, and said in a coquettish voice:

"Jack! Ignore him! Screw that bar! You promised to stay with me tonight!"

Jack's brow twitched almost imperceptibly.

A series of crushing defeats, the Duke coach's daily roars and curses, the increasing boos from the stands, and that damn "Cavaliers Bruce" stealing all the limelight...

All of this weighed heavily on his heart.

He needed to escape, to numb himself, and to regain a sense of being valued and admired.

Alcohol, music, and the adoring gaze of a strange girl held a fatal attraction for him at that moment.

He glanced at Zhang Han, seemingly assessing what ulterior motives lay behind this unexpected act of kindness.

"...Who's going?"

Jack asked, his tone much softer than before, but still scrutinizing.

"I'm the only one hosting."

Seeing an opening, Zhang Han immediately moved closer, adopting an intimate posture:

"The invitation is primarily for you, Captain Jack. Also, you can bring a few of your closest and most reliable buddies for a small get-together. But..."

He paused, observing Jack's expression, before continuing:

"There's this guy named Bruce, but let's not call him that. Personally, I don't really appreciate his... overly flamboyant style. It's like the world stops turning without him. I think the atmosphere might change when he's around. We're all family here, so let's have some fun, okay?"

"Bruce?"

The name was like a thorn, precisely piercing the most sensitive and vulnerable part of Jack's heart.

His eyes suddenly flickered.

A mixture of intense jealousy, humiliation at being outdone, and resentment flashed across his eyes.

He remembered the Duke coach pointing at Bruce and calling them all cowards.

I remembered the applause that rang out for Bruce after last week's game.

Zhang Han's words struck a chord with Jack.

He needs to prove himself.

Even at a small bar party hosted by this rich kid, he wanted to be the center of attention.

So Jack ignored his girlfriend's disgruntled tugging and grumbling from the side.

Finally, he nodded and said:

"OK."

As she spoke, she realized that she hadn't been very respectful to Zhang Han, her sugar daddy.

So he tugged at the corners of his mouth, revealing a smile that wasn't entirely sincere, but was enough to show his attitude.

"What time tonight? Blazing Flame Bar, right?"

Zhang Han was secretly delighted.

"Yes, I'll make the arrangements after nine o'clock."

Jack's girlfriend pinched his arm hard.

"Jack!"

Jack impatiently brushed her hand away, his tone dismissive:

"Honey, stop fooling around. This is a boys' gathering; they're talking serious stuff. Go home first, or go shopping with your girlfriends."

After saying that, he stopped looking at his girlfriend's sullen face and gestured with his chin towards Zhang Han:

See you tonight.

Zhang Han tactfully said goodbye and left immediately.

Behind him, Jack quickly started feeding his girlfriend cream puffs.

……

night.

Inside the River Valley Flame Bar, deafening hip-hop music pounded against the walls.

Colorful lights swept across the billowing smoke.

As Zhang Han said, he booked the entire venue tonight.

In the only large booth in the entire venue, four or five stylishly dressed and exquisitely made-up young girls were already seated.

The group of foreign girls, dressed in short skirts or tight-fitting clothes, were chatting and laughing.

The atmosphere was quickly ignited by alcohol and music.
