I revived the Demonic Sect in North America
Chapter 42 The Real Street Expert
These items include a handgun.
Several boxes of bullets in cardboard packaging.
A soft bulletproof vest that looks a little worn.
A nylon waist holster for a gun.
A small can of gun oil and a few gun cleaning cloths.
And several pairs of shooting goggles and earmuffs still in plastic wrap.
Liu Yue's eyes widened instantly.
She took a step closer, her eyes fixed on the pistol, and murmured softly:
"Wow, shock! It really is a real gun, Leon! Are you really going to shoot with me later? This is so exciting!"
Kevin raised an eyebrow and glanced at Liu Yue:
"Of course it's a real gun. What, you've never seen a real gun before?"
Liu Yue said somewhat disappointedly:
"I've never seen it before. I had just arrived in New York and wanted to do it myself, but when I excitedly went to the NYPD, the black female police officer at the window was incredibly fierce. She insisted that I couldn't get a gun license if I was under 21, not even a day less."
After saying that, she pouted, raised her head, and said to Kevin in a sweet, coquettish voice:
"Kevin~ Can I touch it?"
Before Kevin could agree, his fingers were already itching to reach for the pistol on the bar.
"Of course not!"
Kevin reacted quickly, grabbing Liu Yue's wrist and pulling it away, then said sternly:
"Hey girl, you should listen to that black policewoman's advice. You know, under New York State law, unlicensed gun possession is a felony, and getting caught once means at least three years in jail!"
Liu Yue rolled her eyes at Kevin resentfully, muttering complaints that Kevin was a stingy person.
But under the intimidation of Kevin's muscular physique, he obediently withdrew his hand.
But his eyes remained fixed intently on the guns on the table.
"Let me introduce Li Ang first."
Li Ang nodded, equally eager to get started.
Kevin picked up the pistol on the table first.
The gun's body is made of black stainless steel, while the grip is made of black plastic polymer.
The gun had some minor scratches, clearly indicating it was a second-hand item.
"The third-generation Glock 19, 9mm caliber, striker-operated, semi-automatic. It is one of the most robust and durable handguns on the market, and at least one-third of the NYPD agents are equipped with this gun. Its advantages are high stability, reliability, and concealability, as well as sufficient power. A shot to the torso within ten meters is enough to incapacitate a person."
Li Ang nodded, and at the same time spoke frankly:
"Is this gun a second-hand item?"
"Yes, I deliberately bought it secondhand."
"Oh, why?"
"Because the trigger assembly of a new gun has not been broken in, it will be stiff and tight. During continuous firing, it may not return to the starting position properly, causing it to jam, or even misfire in severe cases. A reliable second-hand handgun does not have these problems."
Kevin picked up his Glock 19 and said confidently:
"And although this gun is second-hand, it's in excellent condition. The original owner was a truck driver who just happened to die a few days ago, which is why we were able to snag it. I've checked it, and the barrel and recoil spring are fine. It also came with three magazines."
Kevin deftly ejected the magazine, pulled the slide to confirm there were no bullets in the chamber, and then handed the gun to Li Ang.
Li Ang reached out and took it. It was cool to the touch and felt heavy; it did feel quite nice.
Li Ang asked with satisfaction:
"Cool! How much did this gun cost?"
Kevin said smugly:
"The official price of the new gun at the NYPD is $750, but I got it for only $300 plus a keg of craft beer."
Li Ang's eyes lit up, and he quickly expressed his gratitude:
"Three hundred dollars? Kevin, you're practically my godfather."
"Don't give me that. I don't have a beastly son who's been clamoring to buy contraband before he's even an adult."
Despite saying those words, Kevin looked quite pleased with himself, even as he met the admiring gazes of Li Ang and Liu Yue.
He pointed to the ammunition box on the table and continued:
"Take a look at this. This is 9mm full metal jacket ammunition for the Glock 19. The original price is $15 for a box of 50, but I got a whole case, 20 boxes, for $250. That works out to only $12.50 per box. That's enough for you to practice until your hands are sore."
"Very good."
Li Ang glanced at the huge pile of cardboard boxes and exclaimed excitedly:
"Now I have enough training time in addition to doing my job."
Liu Yue, who was standing next to her, nodded excitedly at the thought of shooting so much later.
Kevin shook his head and corrected him:
"Don't be stingy with these bullets. They're all for you to practice on the targets. Since you're a beginner, you need to go out and cause trouble. I won't feel comfortable with your shooting skills until you've used up all these bullets."
Li Ang asked curiously:
"I'm done practicing. Do you have any more bullets?"
"certainly!"
Kevin opened the cash register, took out a metal box, and smiled slightly:
"Those ordinary armor-piercing bullets are for you to get a feel for the game; this box is for you to use in actual combat."
Li Ang curiously took the tin box and examined it. It was a bit heavy, and there were no labels or instructions on the box.
"What is this?"
Hollow-point bullet.
"Hollow-point bullet?"
Liu Yue interjected curiously:
"Aside from the cooler packaging, how are these bullets any different from the ones in those cardboard boxes?"
"Of course they're different."
Kevin casually opened the cardboard box and picked up an ordinary metal jacket bullet.
Then he took out a hollow-point bullet from the iron box.
Kevin first pointed out the differences in their appearance.
A standard bullet has a solid, round tip.
The bullet inside the metal box had a noticeable small dent at its tip, exposing the lead core inside.
He then explained the difference in effectiveness to the two of them:
"Ordinary bullets don't expand or deform when they hit the body, resulting in small wounds and slow bleeding, making it difficult to impair a person's mobility. Hollow-point bullets, on the other hand, are insidious. Once they enter the soft tissue of the body, the bullet will explode like a flower, churning inside the body and turning into a mushroom shape."
Kevin made a firework explosion gesture with his hand and grinned slyly:
"In this way, all the kinetic energy of the bullet is poured into the human body, which can easily cause huge lacerations. Even the toughest man with the highest endurance will basically be taken down with one shot. After all, even wild boars cannot bear this kind of pain."
Kevin's words were brutal, yet his two audience members showed no fear whatsoever.
Liu Yue's eyes lit up as she listened, wishing she could immediately grab a passerby to test the hollow-point bullet and see its effect.
Seeing this, Kevin could only sigh helplessly and reminded Li Ang:
"But this stuff is a bit pricey; a box of fifty costs forty dollars. But I don't think we should skimp on this."
Li Ang placed the tin box back on the bar and nodded in agreement:
"You're right, Kevin, thank you so much."
"It's not over yet."
Kevin finally picked up the soft bulletproof vest and carefully shook it open.
This bulletproof vest is also a slightly worn second-hand item, but it's still in good condition.
"This bulletproof vest is a piece of police-issue soft armor that was smuggled and sold privately by some corrupt cops within the NYPD. It has the highest protection level, IIIA, which can stop almost all handgun bullets. Its biggest advantage is that it is lightweight enough that it is not noticeable if your clothing is loose enough."
As he tossed the vest to Li Ang for inspection, he explained:
"When I bought it, it had the NYPD logo and NIJ certification, and I checked the quality and there were no problems. The only issue is the price. The new model costs $1000, and I had to haggle a lot to get this one for $700. But I still think it's worth it, because you can only produce if you're alive, and ensuring safety is the top priority."
Kevin was worried that Li Ang wouldn't be willing to spend more money on the bulletproof vest, so he gave him a long explanation.
That's obviously overthinking it. Given Li Ang's cowardly nature, even if he already has a substitute doll, he'll still stack up his armor as high as possible.
Li Ang gave Kevin a thumbs up, sparing no praise:
"You've thought of everything very thoroughly; you certainly haven't let me down, Kevin. You're a true street expert!"
