NBA: My template has no limit

Chapter 40 Don't Let Loyalty Ruin You

This summer, Robinson, who withdrew from the Olympics, returned to Lake County and completed his training tasks on time and accurately every day. This level of self-discipline was so rare that even the Bucks coaching staff showed surprise at him.

They believe that the proud and confident "big dog" has changed his mind.

But the real reason is known only to Robinson himself.

On the one hand, his tenosynovitis keeps recurring, and if he doesn't start rehabilitation training, his muscles will fall off completely in just two months!

On the other hand, Robinson was annoyed that the team had to select a rookie who needed the ball when they already had him and Vin Baker.

What does this mean? Isn't this a blatant attempt to steal my core position on the team?

Therefore, Robinson cannot afford to slack off; he must become stronger and more well-rounded. If he falls at this crucial moment, when he returns, the thief will seize his position as the leader!

Robinson needs to prove that his record-breaking contract was the best decision the team ever made!

The arrival of this fourth overall pick would be the team's most foolish choice.

Unlike Robinson, Vin Baker's reason for practicing was simple.

He needs to win, at least to lead the team to the playoffs, otherwise the Bucks' record will be too bad.

Since Baker was selected eighth overall by the Bucks in 1993 and came to Milwaukee, he has fallen in love with the team and the city.

From a regular rookie to an All-Star, Vin Baker was nurtured by the team, and the beautiful and peaceful scenery of Lake County and the locals' attitude of treating him like family had a great influence on him.

Everything was so perfect, until that damn Robinson showed up!

Robinson doesn't care whether the team wins or whether the playing style is reasonable. He only knows how to be a stat-padder and a cancer, always thinking about those ineffective points.

In Vin Baker's mind, Xu Feng's arrival might be a good thing, indicating that the management wants to redistribute the team's power and no longer wants to be controlled by "Big Dog" alone.

But can that young man shoulder such a heavy responsibility?

Wen Baker is unsure.

Unaware that he had already been targeted by the two veteran teams, Xu Feng was still diligently practicing basketball and racing cars.

He bought another Dodge Viper so he could experience the thrill of a genuine American V10.

What aerodynamics and fluid dynamics? Not fast enough is simply due to insufficient horsepower! 450 horsepower is the cure for underpowered horsepower phobia!

With a tap of the accelerator, Xu Feng felt his soul soaring to heaven.

When Xu Feng arrived in Milwaukee, the first player to approach him was someone he never expected.

Johnny Newman!

The veteran visited the house and took the initiative to apologize for his rudeness that day.

Newman is a gentle person in private. He introduced the team to Xu Feng, and the two exchanged their hobbies and experiences, and agreed to watch a movie together at a certain time.

Happy times always pass quickly. In mid-September, all the rookies were going to Florida to gather at the Marriott Hotel World Center in Orlando.

The league mandates that rookies must complete a rookie training program before officially entering the league.

The course lasts for four days and is under complete closed management.

Not going? Sure.

A $20,000 fine is imposed for each missed class, and a five-game suspension is imposed for not participating in any game.

On the day the report was published, the alliance confiscated cell phones and pagers, which could only be used at fixed times each day thereafter.

Forcing these highly individualistic and strong-willed rookies together will inevitably lead to various conflicts.

That very evening, the first incident occurred.

The players needed to undergo a full physical examination, and when it was Kobe's turn, he moved quickly.

"Doctor, I'm very healthy, I have no problems at all!"

Clearly, Kobe was focused on passing the physical exam as soon as possible and ending this incredibly boring training.

Seeing Kobe's serious expression, Ray Allen, standing behind him, suddenly felt a mischievous urge:

"Hey kid, you got checked so quickly and there's nothing wrong with you? That's because you're only 17 and haven't experienced anything yet!"

His playful tone drew laughter from the entire audience, including Xu Feng.

But Kobe didn't see it as a good-natured joke. He glared at Ray Allen with a cold expression, his eyes filled with offended anger.

Ray Allen hadn't expected this guy to be so serious. He shrugged and muttered something after Kobe left:

"What a spoilsport!"

Allen Iverson, Xu Feng, and Stephon Marbury, all high-draft lottery picks, lived on the same floor.

The day after the report, another problem arose, and this time it was quite serious.

Allen Iverson has disappeared! Nobody knows where he went.

Despite the efforts of league staff, representatives from the 76ers, and all on-site security personnel, they still couldn't find it.

Finally, Iverson, who had disappeared, returned to the hotel on his own in the early hours of the fourth day. He told the staff:

"I was just a little homesick, and the air here was too stuffy, so I just went out for some fresh air."

Ignoring these unexpected incidents, everyone else received their training as usual.

The courses include gambling and gang prevention lessons taught by former core members of the Mafia.

Financial planning and investment strategies presented by NBA Finance and The Wolf of Wall Street.

NBA players share their experiences in drug prevention education.

Media relations techniques revealed by a veteran sports journalist.

There are also courses on handling legal contract disputes, protecting the rights and interests of the players' union, sex education, and adapting to referee rules.

Based on the current state of the league, Xu Feng is certain that not many rookies are truly taking these lessons to heart.

Finally, and the lesson that left the deepest impression on Xu Feng, was Bob Lanier's sharing of legendary experiences.

The legendary center stood on the podium and passionately recounted his experiences.

"My first point is to tell you all: cherish your bodies!"

"I had knee surgery during my rookie year, and the doctor told me I needed to rest. But the team, the media, and the fans were all shouting, 'Bob, come back! We need you!'"

In my youthful ignorance, I insisted on returning to the field, thinking it was a symbol of courage, but it turned out to be a sign of foolishness!

For the next 10 years, I endured pain every day; my knee never fully recovered.

"Secondly, don't let fame and money bury your original aspirations..."

……

"Finally, don't let loyalty ruin you!"

I'm a Hall of Famer, and my jersey has been retired by two teams, but I've never even touched the NBA Finals floor in my entire career!

It's not that I didn't work hard enough, it's that I realized too late that loyalty is worthy of respect, but you can't let it ruin your career!

You can love your team, but love your dream even more!

Bob's words deeply moved Xu Feng, and Xu Feng was certain that many people would take Bob's instructions to heart and put them into practice many years later.

After class, Xu Feng approached Bob and asked him many questions.

"If a player is incredibly strong during the regular season, but then experiences various physical problems leading to withdrawal from the playoffs, how should we view this?"

"If a player openly and repeatedly forms superstar teams during his prime in order to win a championship, should we still respect him?"

……

Xu Feng asked a series of questions, leaving Bob a little bewildered. After patiently answering all the questions, Bob said with a complicated expression:

"Xu Feng, some of the questions you asked and the things those fictional players did are things that I've never seen anyone do in all my years of playing and watching basketball. Your questions are really tricky."

"Haha, it's just a hypothetical thought, don't worry about it. You are a really good teacher. I have learned a lot here, and I am a little reluctant to leave now!"

"Then, shall we meet again sometime?"

"You've given me a lot of inspiration; my teaching materials may need to be revised because of you. Goodbye, you interesting little guy."
