NBA: My template has no limit
Chapter 56 Taking the Wasp as an Example
Charlotte, North Carolina.
Glenn Robinson's first game after his return was a tough battle.
The Milwaukee Bucks will face the Charlotte Hornets in their second away game after the Heat.
Having just overcome the Heat, the Bucks are beginning to be recognized by mainstream media for their strength, with the media generally believing that their game against the Hornets will be a close one.
The only problem is the compatibility issue with fully grown stags.
Previously, when Xu Feng and Vin Baker were on the court, the Bucks were able to execute smooth passing, cutting, and pick-and-roll plays. Will their offense still be as smooth after Robinson returns to the team?
The Hornets traded All-Star center Alonzo Mourning to the Heat midway through last season in exchange for fellow All-Star Glen Rice.
During the offseason, they traded Larry Johnson to the New York Knicks in exchange for Anthony Mason, a beastly forward.
After completely getting rid of the two antagonists, the Hornets' roster and team dynamics have become much more harmonious. They can now focus all their energy on making a playoff run.
Bucks players entered the Hive Center, where all 24,000 seats were filled, while Hornets fans held up mocking signs.
"Before the match starts, let us see you two fight!"
"Xu Feng? Glenn? Which of you two is the boss?"
"Don't pass the ball, continue the cold war!"
This was followed by an overwhelming chorus of boos and shouts:
"Fight! Fight! Fight!"
Hornets fans, always eager for drama, are fanning the flames of conflict between the Hornets and Bucks.
Xu Feng's expression was indifferent. After experiencing so many big events, these things were no longer a big deal.
Robinson, being more sensitive, reacted more strongly; his face darkened, and he said in a low voice:
"These idiots are just spouting nonsense!"
The commentators also favored the Bucks, making no attempt to mock the conflict between the two players:
"Is it possible that we'll see Xu Feng and Vin Baker get so angry and start fighting with Glen on the court because of Glen's post-up plays?"
"Oh, that's ridiculous. The Bucks are turning the NBA arena into an octagon. Will Xu Feng defeat Glenn with Chinese Kung Fu, or will Glenn subdue Xu Feng with street boxing? Let's have a guessing game."
During warm-up, Hornets forward Anthony Mason walked over to Robinson with a mocking smile and said:
"Big Dog, you guys can't even play your own team properly, yet you want to win in the Hive? Go back to your Milwaukee with your tail between your legs!"
Robinson's face was as black as the bottom of a frying pan, but the angrier he got, the calmer his voice became. He stared intently at Anthony and said:
"Who do you think you are, to presume to tell me what to do? We can argue all the while and completely dismantle your weak and ineffective defenses!"
Robinson's aggressive words didn't give Anthony any advantage, and he sheepishly returned to his own half.
At the start of the game, Anthony Mason, due to his height disadvantage, was unable to gain an advantage over Vin Baker, and the Bucks had possession of the ball.
Robinson got the ball and, as before, didn't look at anyone. He quickly dribbled up the court and faced Glen Rice at the top of the arc. He slammed the ball away, lowered his center of gravity, and pushed Rice aside before taking three big strides straight to the basket!
Behind him was Anthony Mason, who was running desperately. Robinson didn't stop. He used his strong body to push Anthony aside, and then raised his right arm high, igniting the sky!
Boom! —
"My God! 'Big Dog' is still a force to be reckoned with. He stormed past Anthony for a dunk at the start of the game; he's coming off the offensive plate today with a vengeance!"
Soon they will realize that Robinson is not just hot-tempered on offense, but throughout the entire game.
Unlike his usual self, Robinson quickly ran back to defend, closely following Glen Rice. No matter where Rice ran, Robinson was always there to keep up.
Didn't those idiots say their defense was practically nonexistent?
Look, this is my true defensive ability. Aren't you amazing, Dog Bro!
This is tough on Rice. As a striker who specializes in off-the-ball movement, it's difficult for him to even receive the ball with Robinson by his side!
Magath is the Hornets' starting point guard. He is only 1.6 meters tall and has a very low center of gravity, which is a benefit of his height. Few players in the league can steal the ball from him.
He has no three-pointers, no mid-range shots, and no independent ball-handling offensive skills. In a team where no one can consistently hold the ball, Magath's role is simply to dribble the ball across half-court and then pass it to someone else.
If he dares to enter the restricted area, he will become a speed bump for those two-meter-tall giants.
But what do we do now?
Every Hornets player was tightly guarded by their Bucks counterpart, making it impossible for him to find an opening to pass the ball.
With half of the 24-second shot clock expired, Hornets center Matt Geiger moved out to the free-throw line to receive the ball, while Rice and Tony Smith simultaneously made a back-cut towards the paint.
Matt lobs the ball to Rice, who is behind Rice. Robinson suddenly accelerates, gently pushes Rice with his left hand, and steals the ball with his right.
Then, instead of dribbling the ball himself as usual, and waiting for both sides to reposition themselves for another set play, Robinson swung his long arm and the basketball was passed long to the frontcourt.
Robinson's pass was cunning; he deliberately used too much force, trying to make things difficult for Xu Feng, but Xu Feng's speed still exceeded his expectations, and he easily caught the pass.
Xu Feng received the ball and slammed it home with one hand!
"Is this the kind of fluid and aggressive offense the Bucks can produce when Glenn Robinson is on the court?"
In the next round, Magsi fell into Xu Feng's trap again. Xu Feng deliberately lagged behind by half a body length, and Magsi passed the ball over, which was intercepted once more.
Robinson received a pass from Xu Feng, easily shoved aside the weak defender Rice with his buttocks, and slammed the ball down with both hands!
In the opening three possessions, the Bucks silenced the Hornets with three thunderous dunks.
"Is this still the Charlotte Hornets? They've gone cold on offense!"
"What a brutal transition offense! The sound of the ball slamming against the rim was like cannons firing in a honeycomb!"
The Bucks' early onslaught forced Dave Cowens to call a timeout before the first quarter was even halfway through. The Hornets, however, showed no improvement after the timeout.
Rice struggled to get the ball, his touch was ice cold, and even when he finally did get the ball, his prized off-ball three-pointers turned into repeated misses.
The scene that Hornets fans had imagined before the game—Rice shooting over Big Dog—did not happen.
In contrast, Robinson stood at the free-throw line with his back to the basket, and as soon as he reached out, he received Xu Feng's bounce pass, made contact, turned around, and shot in one smooth motion!
Swish! A clean hit!
After scoring, Robinson walked slowly to the side, his steps long and heavy, making a thud on the floor.
With arms half-open, like a large dog guarding its food, it finally lightly pounded its left chest with one hand, lowered its head, and lightly tapped the floor with its toes.
This is one of his most iconic moves, the "Dog Walk".
I don’t know if it’s just my imagination, but Xu Feng felt like he looked a bit like a crab.
"Your All-Star selection is a bit weak, because that should be my spot!"
Robinson didn't hold back, unleashing both trash talk and physical attacks!
Seeing his defense go cold, Anthony Mason had no choice but to move forward to receive the ball and try to attack.
Anthony swung his massive body, using his concealed iron elbow to bypass Vin Baker and attempt to hook the ball into the basket.
boom!
Xu Feng burst out from the side, leaped high, and sent the racket flying horizontally!
"Honestly, if I were a Hornets player on the court, I might feel a bit desperate! The Bucks' defense was terrifying!"
Rice finally got the ball with Anthony's screen and took a three-pointer!
It's in! The first three-pointer in the first seven minutes!
In the next possession, Sherman passed the ball to Xu Feng, who dribbled to the three-point line and jumped, seemingly about to shoot a pull-up three-pointer, but actually faked the shot and passed it directly to Vin Baker.
Although Vin Baker's position wasn't as stable as Anthony's, his height and wingspan were superior. He leaned to the side, faked a turn, and then, taking advantage of Anthony's inattention, used a right-handed hook shot to bank the ball in.
The Hornets were completely outmatched by the Bucks.
