44. Fake!?
"Sir, it's getting late. Why don't you stay here tonight?" a soldier said as he rode up to the carriage.
After obtaining Louisa's consent, the soldiers dismounted and began preparing dinner.
The accompanying chefs piled stones to create a fire pit. Once the fire was lit, they placed the pre-marinated beef leg on the fire, made several cuts with a knife, and waited for the fat to be rendered out before sprinkling on seasonings and serving.
The chef cut the beef shank into chunks, placed them on a plate, and served them to Louisa, along with a glass of juice.
"Thank you," Louisa nodded.
Louisa, as a member of the main force, was able to have her own table to eat at, while the other soldiers could only squat under the trees and wolf down their stews.
Fala was no exception, but his identity as a black magician made everyone keep their distance from him, so he wisely found a secluded spot under a tree to eat quietly.
After a while, a soldier approached him: "Hey, Lady Louise wants to see you."
Farai froze as he scooped the soup. He looked up to see if he had misheard, but the soldier was already gone. He didn't want to spend another second with this heretic.
"Lady Louisa, you wanted to see me?"
Falley walked awkwardly to Louisa's dining table, his large black robe tightly wrapped around his thin body, his two pale hands constantly fidgeting with the hem of his clothes.
"Don't be nervous, have a seat," Louisa said, pushing a plate of beef shank towards him. This was an extra portion she had asked the chef to cut.
Fala hesitated for a moment, then sat down, lowered his head, and used his hood to cover his eyes from the occasional glances he stole at Louisa.
"Don't you like beef? I remember they also brought pork and lamb. Would you like me to have them make another serving?"
After Louisa finished speaking, Falae waved her hands repeatedly, "No, no, no! The beef is good, I like it very much!"
He quickly picked up his knife and fork and began to eat heartily, thinking to himself: Lady Louisa is so gentle...
Louisa poured Falaine a glass of juice and went straight to the point: "Do you know about the Killing Curse?"
"Cough, cough, cough!" Fala coughed repeatedly, choking on his saliva before slowly recovering. "Why did you ask that, sir?"
"A friend of mine has been cursed, and I want to help him."
Farai smiled slightly after hearing this: "Your friend, sir, should be named Norn, right?"
"Looks like I asked the right person. Was it you who cast the curse on him?"
Falley nodded, his tone becoming firm: "I will not betray Lord Angre. He rescued me from the Theocracy's Black Hunt and gave me a second life. I cannot tell you anything."
"Actually, I asked you this question more out of curiosity. I've never heard of a curse that can be triggered according to the caster's will."
Most curses are triggered only after the person meets a certain condition. If the Killing Curse is really as Norn says, capable of killing him anytime, anywhere, then can you also kill me?"
"No! I am devoted to you, sir, it's absolutely impossible for me to..."
Farai looked up in alarm, his black and red pupils reflecting a blue orb that was constantly gathering.
Louisa's magic circle glowed blue, pointed directly at Fara's head: "Do you think I would trust the words of a dark mage?"
"Stop! Sir! Stop joking!"
Fala stood up, intending to escape, but his legs gave way and he collapsed.
Seeing that the blue sphere had stopped converging and was about to launch, Falai trembled violently and shouted, "The Killing Curse is fake! There's no such spell!"
*Plop!*
The blue orb suddenly exploded, making a loud fart sound.
"This is a magic spell I came up with out of boredom when I was in Tandinger, specifically for playing pranks on others," Louisa smiled at Falae.
"The Killing Curse is fake, then what about the brand on Norn's neck?"
Farai gasped for breath, then was overcome with remorse. Seeing that he had been exposed, he had no choice but to answer honestly:
"That's another dark magic, I call it the Reaper's Scythe. Wounds caused by it can never be healed."
Louisa suddenly realized that the mark caused by the curse could not be healed, and this dark magic was indeed very suitable for disguising the curse.
"I see, thank you." Louisa gave Falley a smile, turned and walked onto the carriage, leaving Falley on the ground, filled with regret: I'm sorry! Lord Angre!

"Achoo! Is someone talking about me behind my back?"
Norn sneezed, rubbing his nose as he couldn't help but think.
After leaving the restaurant, Norn bought the slightly dilapidated carriage from Pinas for an extremely exorbitant price and then hired a coachman to drive it.
After two days of bumpy travel, he finally arrived at Rose Town, a town under the jurisdiction of the Duke of William.
Although it is a town, its level of development is completely different from that of Rotten River Town.
No need to enter the city; the towering city walls alone are enough to make the impoverished and remote town of Xiuhe appear as nothing more than a roadside roadside landmark.
Upon entering the city, a bustling scene immediately comes into view.
All kinds of houses are arranged in a dense and orderly manner, stretching far into the distance along the bustling streets.
The cries of vendors filled the air, and the ubiquitous flower shops were a particularly distinctive feature.
Selling flowers in most towns is a money-losing business, but here, a hundred flowers bloom, with a dazzling array of specially cultivated varieties, reflecting the town's prosperity.
"Sir! Do you need parking? We only charge two silver coins a day!" A young man in a leather vest approached enthusiastically to solicit business.
Upon seeing a boy about his own age sitting in the carriage, the young man was taken aback at first, but then became enthusiastic again.
"Lead the way."
"Alright! Please follow me."
The parking area was a wooden shed. It wasn't until Norn paid the bill that he realized the young man had used a trick when soliciting customers.
Two silver coins is just the price for parking; if you want to watch over the horses, you have to pay an extra silver coin.
Norn didn't waste any words and casually handed him a gold coin: "I'll make up for the shortfall, and consider the extra as my tip."
The young man deftly stuffed the gold coins into his pocket, bowed repeatedly to Norn, and was about to leave when Norn called out to him, "Where's the best restaurant in town?"
After two days of traveling by carriage, Norn could only afford to eat some portable fast food like dried meat and bread. He planned to treat his taste buds to something better before going to find Louisa.
Finally, the young man led Norn to the door of a tavern with an oak sign above the entrance that read "Meat Paradise" in rough handwriting.
The young man explained that this was a tavern run by a demi-human, whose cooking skills were superb, and even the Duke was a regular customer.
As you walk through the half-gate at the entrance, a colorful parrot nearby shouts a welcome, but it is quickly drowned out by the voices of other customers in the store.
