Chapter 69 The Bicycle is in Hand

Everyone immediately fell silent, winking at Zhao Hua as they walked towards the township government.

After the crowd dispersed, Zhao Hua breathed a sigh of relief, straightened his clothes, took a few steps forward to Jiang Yue's side, and said, "We grew up together, we're used to playing together, haha."

Jiang Yue nodded and smiled lightly, "It's alright, let's go, let's go find Xu Qian first." After saying that, she led Zhao Hua down the path and walked along the alley towards a group of tiled houses.

Zhao Hua followed behind without finding it strange. It would be strange if Jiang Yue and he, a single man and woman, went together.

The two walked a while further in, and Zhao Hua jumped over the small drainage ditches along the path. Through the path, he could vaguely see a field at the end where the wheat had just been harvested.

Jiang Yue suddenly stopped, and Zhao Hua almost bumped into her. Fortunately, there were gravel stones in front of the house, and he stopped in his tracks by stepping on them.

Smelling the delicate fragrance emanating from Jiang Yue, Zhao Hua steadied himself and looked up, asking, "Have we arrived?"

Jiang Yue glanced at him sideways and said, "We've arrived. Wait here for me."

Zhao Hua nodded and looked around at the surrounding buildings. They looked much better than those in Shuanghuai Village. Shuanghuai Village still had many mud houses, but here they were all brick houses.

Seeing Zhao Hua looking around, Jiang Yue took a few steps forward and knocked on the door of the house that was covered with gravel.

Zhao Hua was a little curious. In their village, it was rare for acquaintances to knock on doors like this. Usually, they would call out the name of the person inside when they arrived at the door, and only stop when they heard someone answer. She wondered if the person inside could hear her knocking like this.

Footsteps were heard from inside shortly after, and the door opened a crack a moment later. Seeing Jiang Yue, she excitedly pulled the door open and said, "Why are you here? I was just thinking of coming to visit you. Come in quickly."

Jiang Yue shook her head and said, "Are you busy right now? If not, why don't you come to the hospital with me?"

Upon hearing this, Xu Qian's eyes widened, and she covered her mouth in surprise, asking, "What's wrong with you? Why are you going to the hospital now? Are you sick?" She took a few steps outside, but caught sight of Zhao Hua out of the corner of her eye. She frowned slightly, covered her head with her hands, and retreated.

Jiang Yue smiled and said, "No, he wanted to buy a bicycle from my neighbor, but no one was home at Uncle Li's house, so I took him to the hospital to look for him."

"Oh, wait for me a moment, I'll go get the umbrella!" With that, Xu Qian ran back into the inner room.

Zhao Hua stood a little distance away watching the two beautiful young girls. Seeing that Xu Qian immediately went back into the house to get her umbrella after only asking for a reason, he suddenly thought of the female college student in the news from his previous life.

Just as Zhao Hua's thoughts were wandering off, Xu Qian and Jiang Yue walked over with an umbrella. Seeing him in a daze, Xu Qian punched him.

Zhao Hua snapped out of his daze, glanced at the two girls, and whispered a warning: "Don't be so kind in the future. Nowadays, many human traffickers target naive girls like you. If you get kidnapped, you can imagine the worst possible outcome."

Upon hearing this, the two girls slowed their pace. Seeing this, Zhao Hua said irritably, "I'm definitely not that kind of person. I'm perfectly safe. Haven't you seen me at the market many times already?"

Jiang Yue and Xu Qian then returned to normal. Xu Qian took a few steps forward and punched them again, saying, "Then why did you scare us? My grandfather just told us about this."

"I just suddenly thought of it and wanted to remind you."

Xu Qian pursed her lips and said, "Zhao Hua, I didn't realize you were so rich. You're even planning to buy a bicycle."

Zhao Hua chuckled and said, "You don't have any at home?"

"It's none of our business; they just ride it to work."

"But they're still there. Are you going to lock them up when you want to ride them?"

He suddenly remembered that nowadays, whether it's Phoenix, Forever, or other off-brand bikes, they all come with a 28-inch men's frame.

Glancing at their heights, it seemed that riding this kind of bicycle would be quite strenuous.

The three of them left the alley and headed towards the hospital, which was just a little in front of the township government. They returned to the path and continued downhill.

As Xu Qian walked, she suddenly saw a dozen or so young men standing by the roadside. She stopped and nervously tugged at Jiang Yue.

Jiang Yue followed her gaze, understood what was going on, and smiled, "Those people were all brought by Zhao Hua."

Upon hearing this, Xu Qian patted her small chest and sighed, "So that's how it is. I thought those people from this morning were here again. Zhao Hua, you have quite a few friends, don't you?"

Zhao Hua laughed and said, "Yeah, they just came to join in the fun."

Xu Qian nodded and stayed close to Jiang Yue, speaking in a much softer voice.

Only after the three of them had passed the group of people with their burning gazes did Xu Qian raise her voice a little.

When they arrived at the hospital entrance, Zhao Hua looked at Jiang Yue, who smiled and led Zhao Hua directly to a private ward. As a neighbor, she and her family had visited the person who had been beaten.

Zhao Hua met the man Jiang Yue had mentioned, whom he called Uncle Li. He explained his purpose to him and learned that the bicycle had not yet been sold. Zhao Hua was delighted, but since the man had just suffered an accident, he couldn't show his joy on his face.

The three of them silently followed the middle-aged man with a worried face back to the large red iron gate.

The middle-aged man took out his key, opened the door, and led Zhao Hua into the courtyard. Jiang Yue and Xu Qian were still there. Jiang Yue's home was nearby, so it would be easy for her to go back. Xu Qian, on the other hand, stayed to watch the excitement.

The group entered the courtyard. The middle-aged man shooed away the barking dog and led everyone under the shed. He lifted the tarpaulin, revealing a brand-new bicycle parked inside.

He tossed the tarpaulin aside and said, "This car was originally intended for my child. It's a Phoenix, and all the paperwork is complete. The transfer of ownership can be done in a bit. I bought it for 170, not including the receipt. If you want it, I'll charge you 230. If you can accept that, you can take it."

Zhao Hua thought about it and realized that the price was not cheap, but it wasn't expensive according to the current market price. The key was that the paperwork was complete, so he could ride around the county town with peace of mind.

Thinking of this, he smiled and said, "Okay, Uncle, I won't haggle with you anymore. Two hundred and thirty it is. I'll pay you now. Could you also help me with the transfer of ownership?"

The middle-aged man nodded, pushed the car out of the shed, took out the money, counted it, and handed it to Jiang Yue. Seeing this, the middle-aged man didn't say anything and pushed the car out of the yard.

The police station and the township government happened to be located together. When the group arrived at the police station, the person on duty seemed to know Uncle Li and was familiar with his family situation. Zhao Hua paid the processing fee, and the police officer gave Zhao Hua a receipt.

After Jiang Yue saw that the group had completed the formalities, he handed the money Zhao Hua had given him to Uncle Li. Uncle Li took the money, handed the car to Zhao Hua, and then led everyone home. He then took out the air pump and all the car purchase documents and handed them to Zhao Hua.

Without saying a word or even a greeting, Uncle Li locked the door and headed straight to the hospital.
