Douluo Continent III Haotian Wulin
Chapter 34: Roommate
Donghai College is very large.
The high walls stretched out to the horizon, enclosing the entire academy. In front of the main gate stood a tall gatehouse built of massive stones, heavy and simple, understated yet exuding an imposing presence.
Liu Yuxin led Tang Wulin inside, giving him a brief introduction as they walked.
"Donghai College is divided into an intermediate college department and an advanced college department. Our advanced college department is on the west side, while your intermediate college department covers a larger area, with teaching buildings, dormitories, and training grounds mostly located on the east side and at the back."
Tang Wulin listened attentively, nodding occasionally.
Since getting out of the car, he had been trying his best to appear calm. But once he actually entered the academy, he couldn't help but feel a little stunned.
This place is so different from Aolai City.
The roads are wide, the trees are plentiful, and the buildings are tall. The main road is flat and open, with many side roads branching off to different areas. The further you go in, the more you can feel that this place is different from ordinary academies—it is too complete and too orderly, like a small town specifically for training Soul Masters.
"Ordinary vehicles are not allowed to pass through the college freely." Liu Yuxin pointed to the road under her feet. "Outside vehicles can only park in designated areas, and you have to walk to get further in. It's safer this way, and it won't be too noisy."
Tang Wulin hummed in agreement and looked up at the most conspicuous teaching building in the distance.
It has twelve floors in total.
"That's the main teaching building for the intermediate section." Liu Yuxin followed his gaze and smiled. "The higher the floor, the higher the grade. Since you've just enrolled, you should be on the first or second floor. The intermediate section is a six-year program, and not many people actually make it all the way to the senior section."
She spoke calmly, yet her words carried enough weight for Tang Wulin to discern.
Intermediate and advanced colleges may seem to be separated by only one level, but in reality, they are quite different.
Intermediate academies offer compulsory education; any Soul Master from Donghai City and its surrounding towns with a recommendation letter from a junior academy can come here for systematic learning. Senior academies, however, are different; only those who pass the entrance exam are considered true elites.
"Go to the Academic Affairs Office to register first." Liu Yuxin pointed forward. "After you finish the formalities, the dormitory building is behind the teaching building. If you need anything later, you can also find me in the senior section. I'm in Class 1 of Grade 11."
"Thank you, senior," Tang Wulin said immediately.
Liu Yuxin looked at this junior who had been very polite since they met and couldn't help but smile.
"Don't be so reserved. Donghai Academy isn't as scary as you think. After enrollment, you'll be assigned to classes, and then there will be an assessment. Doing well on the assessment will bring many benefits, so you need to get into the right mindset these next few days."
"I will." Tang Wulin nodded seriously.
Tang Wulin watched Liu Yuxin walk away to the west before turning around and entering the Academic Affairs Office.
With his temporary reception badge and a letter of recommendation from Hongshan College, his procedures went smoothly.
Two sets of free school uniforms, one dormitory key, and one registration form; courses and learning materials will be distributed after the official start of the semester.
Class 5, Grade 1.
From this moment on, he was officially a freshman in the intermediate department of Donghai Academy.
After completing the formalities, Tang Wulin slung his bag over his shoulder, walked around the teaching building, and headed towards the dormitory building.
The dormitory building is the same height as the main teaching building, also twelve stories. Because it was registration time, the building was a bit chaotic, with voices everywhere. Some people were dragging suitcases, some were helping their children make their beds, some were standing at the door giving instructions, and others were students who had arrived at the dormitory early and were looking around at their new environment.
Tang Wulin searched for a while using the door number before finally finding his dormitory.
205.
The door was open.
He had just reached the door when two pairs of eyes from inside turned toward him.
The dormitory was small and simply furnished. Two bunk beds, two long tables, four chairs, two cabinets, and a lamp overhead—that was all.
The two lower bunks are already occupied.
Sitting on the lower left bunk was a tall boy, noticeably half a head taller than Tang Wulin. He had broad shoulders, thick arms, short hair, and slightly bulging eyes. Although he was young, his face already carried a hint of ferocity.
Another boy was sitting on the lower bunk to the right. He was thinner, wore glasses, and was holding a book. He seemed much quieter.
"Hello," Tang Wulin said first. "My name is Tang Wulin, and I'm new here."
The skinny boy nodded first.
"The cloud is small. The cloud in the clouds is small in size."
"Hello." Tang Wulin smiled at him.
The tall, muscular boy on the other side merely rolled his eyes and gave him a lazy glance.
"You're new here, huh?" he said, his tone somewhat matter-of-fact. "Then you should clean the dorm first."
Tang Wulin was new to the place and not familiar with the rules. He thought that as a newcomer, he should do more, so he nodded in agreement.
"oh."
After he finished speaking, he put his luggage on the upper bunk on the left, turned around to get the washbasin and rag in the corner, and prepared to go out to get water first.
Seeing that he had really left, Yun Xiao looked up and glanced at the tall, strong boy.
"Zhou Changxi, are you serious?"
The tall, muscular boy chuckled and stood up from the bed.
"Hey, mind your own business, you shrew." He said as he walked toward Tang Wulin's bed. "If we don't put this new guy in his place first, how will we get him to do anything later? Didn't you see? He obediently went to fetch water with just one word from me. We might as well take advantage of this kind of person."
Yun Xiao frowned.
"Don't overdo it."
Zhou Changxi snorted, completely ignoring what he said.
He reached out and pulled down the cloth bag that Tang Wulin had placed on the upper bunk, unzipped it, and shook it down.
Clothes, blankets, toiletries, and the two sets of school uniforms they had just received all fell to the ground.
Yun Xiao sat up straight immediately.
"You've gone a bit too far."
Zhou Changxi laughed even louder.
"Look at all this stuff I brought." He casually picked up an old piece of clothing, shook it, and said, "They really bring out all sorts of junk. Tsk, there's even a flower here, crooked and twisted, who embroidered that? It's just too—"
Footsteps sounded at the door.
Tang Wulin walked in carrying a half-basin of water.
He stopped abruptly as soon as he entered the room.
His things were scattered all over the ground.
His blankets, clothes, personal belongings, and the two sets of school uniforms that had just been issued were all lying on the ground, covered in a layer of dust. Zhou Changxi was still holding his bag, standing there with an indifferent expression.
Tang Wulin first put the washbasin on the table before looking up.
"What are you doing?"
His voice wasn't loud, but it had clearly turned cold.
Zhou Changxi pursed his lips.
"Nothing much, just checking what you, a country bumpkin, have brought with you."
Tang Wulin stared at him.
"Pick it up."
Zhou Changxi raised an eyebrow.
"What did you say?"
"I told you to pick it up." Tang Wulin repeated each word carefully.
This time, the atmosphere in the dormitory was noticeably different.
Yun Xiao sat to the side without saying a word, but had already put down the book in her hand.
Zhou Changxi's smile faded, replaced by an unpleasantness at being contradicted. He took a step forward, stood in front of the pile of scattered items, looked down, and suddenly lifted his foot, stepping directly onto the quilt.
He even deliberately ground it harder.
The spot I stepped on was right next to that crooked little flower on the corner of the blanket.
That was embroidered by Na'er.
The stitching was messy and the needlework wasn't pretty, but Tang Wulin recognized it at a glance.
He seemed to freeze for a moment, and the coldness in his eyes vanished completely in that instant.
Zhou Changxi hadn't noticed yet; she just looked at him with her chin raised, her tone full of provocation.
"What, you're not happy about it?"
Tang Wulin looked at the trampled little flower and spoke in a low voice.
"That was embroidered by my sister."
