Chapter 105 Forbidden Magic
"You must be Miss Tana? Hello, I'm Eli. I'm so sorry to bother you so suddenly today. I hope Ms. Becky informed you beforehand?"
Eli tiptoed across a muddy patch and greeted Tana with a broad smile.
She turned her green eyes, carefully observing the other person.
Tana was dressed very casually, wearing only a gray old outfit that covered most of her skin, revealing only her slightly greenish face and brown hair.
However, she seemed somewhat dazed, and only snapped back to reality upon hearing Eli's name, muttering to herself:
"Eli, Charlotte..." She nodded, a slight smile on her face. "Ms. Becky wrote to me yesterday specifically asking me to treat you well. Please come in."
As he spoke, he led the two into the wooden house.
The wooden house looked quite old, but it was very clean.
Eli found it strange; although the place was clean, it always felt lacking in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
"This house was temporarily lent to me by Ms. Becky's friend, who said it could help me treat my psychological problems."
Eli strolled around the cabin, noticing its unique structure. From the outside, it appeared to be just an ordinary wooden structure, but the interior walls seemed to be made of stone and covered with plant-like patterns.
She reached out and touched the patterns, finding the design both strange and wonderful.
"Gentlemen," Tana said, bringing tea and sitting down at the long table. "What brings you here?"
Eli sat down at the table and explained with a smile, "Miss Tana, it's like this, we're looking for teammates for a magic battle competition..."
She briefly introduced the details of the Frey family selection process and promised generous compensation to those who assisted.
"Ms. Becky said you've already mastered magic at the beginner spellcaster level?"
Tana nodded somewhat blankly. "Yes, it's a second-circle spell, but it's more powerful than many third-circle spells. In fact, I'm not sure if I've really mastered it yet, so I haven't had time to apply for entry-level mage status at the Magic Association."
"I've heard it's a rare kind of nature magic?" Charlotte, a druid from the Green Tower, was very interested in nature magic and asked this question on her own initiative, which was quite unusual.
Seeing Tana nod, Eli said with great interest, "Then could you demonstrate this magic for us?"
Tana fell silent. Just as the two thought she was about to refuse, the forest dwarf smiled and looked at Charlotte:
"You seem to be an excellent druid. Could you please catch a little spring bird for me?"
"Just one, just one is enough..." she repeated inexplicably, sounding somewhat neurotic.
But these unusual details were either ignored by the two of them, or some force erased the irrationality from their minds.
Ever since Eli heard those praises about Tana from Becky yesterday, she inexplicably developed the same wonderful expectations for Tana.
When she conveyed this expectation to Charlotte, Charlotte, the other woman also became lost in this expectation, just like her.
They all unanimously believed that Tana Turan was an excellent mage who had mastered nature magic, even though she had been a wanderer just a week ago.
Charlotte looked out the window and saw many trees growing luxuriantly, with brown-feathered finches hopping about among the branches and leaves, searching for food.
She opened her mouth and made a sound that was barely perceptible to an ordinary person, then stretched out her arm.
A moment later, a fluffy spring bird landed on the back of her hand.
Charlotte gave the bird to Tana.
"What a lovely little life..." Tana's face showed a hint of joy.
The next second, she clenched her fist, and the life she had just praised was squeezed into a puddle of flesh, blood and internal organs splattered everywhere.
Eli stared in surprise, while Charlotte frowned; neither of them understood Tana's actions at all.
"Don't rush, you two..."
Tana held the mangled corpse of the spring sparrow in her hand and began chanting a spell.
A moment later, as the incantation drew to a close, the flesh and blood in her hands began to coalesce, writhe, and reshape themselves.
"Is she resurrecting this bird?" Eli, a healing mage, noticed that the way the magical energy flowed was somewhat similar to her life magic.
Although healing and resurrection magic are from the same lineage, their levels of difficulty are vastly different.
Even the simplest resurrection spell is beyond the grasp of a novice spellcaster!
Finally, the blood disappeared without a trace. Tana opened her palm, and under the intense gazes of the two men, a green lizard about the length of a finger crawled out of her hand.
"This is..." Eli had never seen such amazing magic before, which could even change the type of living creature.
She was incredibly curious, leaning forward as if she wanted to touch the newborn life.
Charlotte, who was next to her, suddenly grabbed her arm from under the table and squeezed it hard.
At the same time, Eli heard her message in his mind.
"We have to get out of here immediately! The magic she's using has touched upon the Green Tower's taboos; this girl is dangerous!"
Eli's expression changed, and he instinctively gripped his staff, preparing to flee.
But then Tana chuckled softly, her eyes unfocused, her voice low and fragmented, like a murmur:
"What an amazing power! Look at this little guy, it was just a moment ago a winged, sharp-beaked bird, but now it can only crawl pitifully on the ground... It's all thanks to this..."
"Oh," she exclaimed, looking up at the two people who were retreating towards the door while watching her warily. She asked, puzzled, "What's wrong with you two? Why are you staring at me so intently?"
Without further ado, Charlotte swung her vine-entwined staff, and countless thorns sprang up from the ground, lunging at Tana.
At the same time, Eli conjured a bright light that blinded Tana.
The two immediately ran towards the door, but heard a piercing scream behind them.
Immediately afterwards, the entire wooden house began to tremble, as if a sleeping forest giant had suddenly awakened.
The stone walls covered in plant patterns that had previously piqued Eli's interest also began to crack and writhe in the vibrations and Tana's screams!
This entire house is actually made up of some kind of plant-like monster!
The open door slammed shut in an instant, then twisted and deformed, merging with the surrounding walls.
In an instant, countless slender tendrils stretched out from inside the room, carrying a deep, eerie green color and a nauseating, rotten smell.
Charlotte was almost overwhelmed by the smell.
She then realized that the corrupted monsters had been immobilized by a petrification spell, making them appear lifeless and thus concealing their presence.
However, due to Tana's attack, they all woke up.
The two looked back and saw that the forest dwarf no longer resembled a human at all.
Her body was covered in festering sores, as if her flesh and blood were melting away, and she was constantly merging with the surrounding demons.
Even the lizard she resurrected with forbidden magic became part of her body.
