I am a mage, with an infinite mana bar!

Chapter 38 Pursuit and Counterattack

From those countless gaps, which were indistinguishable as eyes or mouthparts, came inhuman roars. At the same time, Lynn felt as if he were being locked onto by countless gazes.

The trees around him and Charlotte began to twist and writhe wildly, their trunks and leaves displaying a fleshy, bloody texture.

Just like the vortex of flesh and blood that had just appeared on the stone altar, these mutated plants coalesced together.

Then, Lynn watched as they suddenly changed, and Rigel, who had been standing on the mountaintop just a second ago, appeared right in front of him!

Meanwhile, atop the mountain, the withered, broken tree, having melted and then solidified, moved to its previous resting place!

"Watch out!" he quickly warned Charlotte, who was sitting in front of him.

Charlotte turned her head and glanced sideways, her face immediately darkening, and she quickly whistled.

The wolves beneath them suddenly increased their speed.

Roar!

Upon seeing this, the swollen tumor formed by the fusion of the dark elf Rigel and many other creatures immediately pounced. Its deformed legs were as thick as elephant hooves, and when it pushed off the ground, the immense force ploughed two deep trenches in the ground. Its movements were surprisingly agile and swift!

It slammed into Lynn from the side, and a white light barrier appeared!

It was more powerful than Lynn's own shield spell.

That was one of the three shield spells that Old Man Barton had given him!

Despite the impact of Rigel's massive body, the shield spell remained as solid as a mountain, easily blocking the attack.

Lynn's heart pounded in fear. Even through the barrier, he could feel the ferocious power, which was something his mere first-level shield spell could not withstand!

Fortunately, the wolf was fast enough that Rigel stopped temporarily after his attack and was quickly left behind.

Lynn immediately warned Charlotte, "That monster seems to have the ability to switch places with plants; be careful it doesn't suddenly appear."

Lynn suspected that it could interact with all living things, not just plants.

Charlotte responded lightly, and through her flowing blonde hair, Lynn sensed her unease.

"Riegel...no, that monster is coming for me..." Charlotte's calm voice trembled slightly. "Lynn, I can't drag you down with me..."

She whistled, and soon, Lynn caught a glimpse of a long-horned white deer that seemed to be draped in moonlight—the very one Eli was riding.

They had just fled from the mountains, heading in different directions in their haste, and were now trying to reunite.

"Let's escape with Eli. I'll lead the wolf away from another direction," Charlotte said.

Then she turned to Eli and asked, "You should have brought magic potions, right?"

The Natural Sacred Heart consumes a great deal of magic power, and coupled with her previous use of several second and third-circle spells, her magic power was already depleted.

Eli nodded immediately upon hearing this, took out two bottles of magic potions from his staff, and handed them over when the white deer and the demon wolf were running side by side and the situation was relatively stable.

The pale blue potion was pure and clear. Charlotte glanced at it and frowned.

She almost forgot that, with Eli's apprentice mage privileges, she could only buy corresponding, lower-quality magic potions.

This potion is no longer sufficient for a novice druid.

But something is better than nothing, so she didn't hesitate and quickly drank two bottles of magic potion.

Lynn, however, was more familiar with these common-sense matters than Eli. He looked at Charlotte with some concern, as the supplies they had just received were hardly enough to help her.

Moreover, they are currently in a zone of mana depletion, meaning they cannot replenish their mana normally through magical artifacts.

The more powerful the spellcaster, the more disadvantaged they are in this situation.

"Let's leave quickly. It's too dangerous for us to stay with me. Besides, I'm very familiar with the Whispering Forest. If I can keep it in check, our chances of survival will greatly increase."

She urged Lynn on, but her tone didn't seem as certain as she had said.

Her current magic power is only enough to cast one more second-circle spell; she can't even use "Nature's Sacred Heart."

Lynn didn't hesitate much; with his current strength, he was no match for Rigel.

His "Frost Ring," which he had always relied on, was far too fragile, especially considering that the monster's punch had activated the power of Barton's upgraded "Shield" spell.

He sighed silently, filled with resentment, only then realizing that he still had too many shortcomings and was still too weak.

The wolf and the white deer paused temporarily. Lynn rolled off the wolf's back and was about to climb onto the white deer's back with Eli's help.

Suddenly, his spirituality surged wildly, and out of the corner of his eye, he saw that the body of the demon wolf beneath Charlotte was twisting and melting, with cracks appearing on its surface, emanating an evil and chaotic aura, resembling mouths and eyes.

"Danger!" He hurriedly turned around and grabbed Charlotte's arm. Fortunately, Charlotte also noticed the abnormality at the same time and struggled to fall off the back of the wolf. The two of them fell to the side.

The giant-horned white deer immediately swung its head and slammed it into the mutated demon wolf, knocking it several meters away.

At the same time, the wolf's entire body twisted into an indescribable mass, and in the blink of an eye, Rigel reappeared!

The area within several meters around it seemed to have been hit by an explosion!

Thanks to Lynn's timely reaction, he and Charlotte were spared from being affected.

The two quickly stood up and drew their staffs from their waists. Lynn chanted a spell and fired a fire arrow at them, but it didn't hurt them at all.

Apart from his twisted limbs, all of Rigel's other organs seemed to have melted together, making it impossible to distinguish his neck and head.

But Lynn instantly felt himself being locked onto by a strong, evil, and manic gaze.

To be precise, it was Charlotte behind him that was targeted!

Rigel charged forward suddenly, with astonishing speed.

boom!

The "Shield" spell was activated again, this time by Lynn himself, but unfortunately it shattered in less than a second.

But this buffer time was enough for the giant-horned white deer to turn around again and charge forward, its immense force smashing through the monster covered in melted flesh.

Lynn sighed inwardly, "What a powerful summon!"

He had long recognized that the giant white stag was the magical creature summoned by Charlotte, but he hadn't expected it to be so powerful, even comparable in strength to the thing created by Rigel's sacrifice!

But Eli, riding on its back, wasn't having such a good time...

Because the white deer had two "close encounters" with the mutated Rigel, Eli also got to observe the monster's graceful figure up close.

She was retching repeatedly, her green eyes filled with despair...

With the White Deer holding him back, Lynn quickly condensed a Frost Ring and manipulated it to continuously slash at his enemies.

Its body surface is not hard, and it can easily cut long and deep wounds, but not a single drop of blood flows out of those wounds.

And it heals again in an instant, like a gel.

It was all for nothing... Just as Lynn was feeling discouraged, a sharp arrow pierced through the air, carrying a dazzling flash of fire, and went straight through Rigel's body.

The flames immediately burst into flames, and the sizzling sound of flesh being burned by the intense heat filled the air.

Immediately afterwards, Urshi, riding on the back of a dire wolf with her hands on her bow and arrow, appeared in Lynn's sight.

Following closely behind were Celine and Liam.
