Chapter 50 The Power of Imagination
“Use your imagination,” Lynn said. “For example, with your ‘Focus Light’ spell, I suggest you imagine the surrounding light as a three-dimensional space woven from countless rays of light. And casting Focus Light is like pulling those rays together one by one, handful by handful…”
His principle has some scientific basis, but it is not entirely correct.
With his limited scientific knowledge, he only knew that light is a dynamic and ubiquitous wave, and that the room they were in was a bright, three-dimensional space woven from waves of light.
But in his view, the world has taken a completely different path from scientific research because of the existence of magic. It is meaningless to use the scientific theories of his previous life to explore the essence of magic. The most important thing is to realize magic within the limits of theory.
The method he proposed was something he naturally comprehended after obtaining the bloodline of the Dark Elves and mastering multiple spells related to the natural phenomenon of "light".
Of course, this understanding is also inseparable from the knowledge he gained in his previous life. At least in Lynn's view, his understanding of the world, nature, and magic is completely different from that of others.
Upon hearing this, Blake gripped his chin with his hand, his brows furrowed as he fell into deep thought.
Those who can become sorcerers must have some comprehension. In addition, Lynn's method was very specific, and he seemed to have a spiritual connection with it, so he tried it out involuntarily.
Fortunately, the "Focus Light" spell doesn't consume too much magic power, and he still has some energy left.
Focus your mind, silently bask in the abundant sunlight in the room, and slowly chant incantations to guide the magic.
For a fleeting moment, he seemed to truly see the dense lines of light in the room, interwoven to form a three-dimensional space.
He used his spiritual perception and mental power as an invisible hand to grasp them, merging them with the magic power within his body, causing a qualitative change.
Suddenly, an unreal light gathered at the tip of his staff, like a small sun, and the interlaced light in the room became very dim.
"Did it...it worked?"
Blake stared in astonishment, his face filled with disbelief. His slightly cloudy, weary eyes were stung by the light of the "Focusing Spell," yet he couldn't bear to look away.
This wasn't his first time learning second-circle magic. He had previously spent 13 gold coins to buy a second-circle evocation spell, but it was too difficult for him to learn.
After saving up for several more years, he switched to the relatively simple "Focus Light" spell, hoping to pass the entrance exam for novice mages.
For an ordinary person obsessed with magic but with limited talent, this was already the limit of his life.
For this reason, he has remained single to this day...
The staff member was stunned for a full half minute before he came to his senses. He was even more excited than Blake. "Congratulations, Mr. Blake! You have passed the test. You are now a novice mage. I will prepare the corresponding job badge for you later."
Is the entrance exam for novice mages really just about successfully casting a second-circle spell? Isn't that a bit too easy?
Lynn subconsciously complained, but quickly realized that this was only true for him. It was relatively simple for Eli, but for someone like Blake, it would be enough to consume half a lifetime's time and savings.
Thinking of this, he looked at Blake with a sigh.
The man remained remarkably calm, his eyes unfocused as he stared into empty space. After a long while, he murmured, "Did I really succeed?"
After receiving confirmation from the staff, his vision blurred for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure, turned around, and faced Lynn.
He placed his right hand, which held the staff, over his chest, pressing the top of the staff tightly against his heart, and bowed deeply to Lynn.
"Thank you so much for your help, Mr. Lynn. Your words have been very helpful!"
When he looked up again, his face was filled with an incredibly sincere and joyful smile. "I really don't know how to thank you enough. I spent all my savings to buy the 'Focusing Light' spellbook..."
He smiled somewhat sheepishly as he spoke.
Lynn waved his hand repeatedly, telling Blake not to worry about it.
He spoke up to help the other person partly out of interest, as his recent extensive exposure to "light" magic had sparked his interest in related matters.
On the other hand, she was reminded of her past life by Blake. As a fellow office worker, it was really too difficult to pursue ideals outside of work.
He had some respect for such a person, which is why he went along with it.
[You have successfully imparted your magical knowledge to others and validated your ideas. "Wisdom" inspiration acquisition progress 2/3]
The distorted characters of the Root Codex appeared before his eyes, but Lynn ignored them, secretly pleased.
This action yielded the experience of the [Wisdom] Star, which was within his expectations, since he had already figured out most of the methods for upgrading the Magic Tome.
He never expected to make so much progress; he was just a little short of getting another selectable spell.
Moreover, according to his speculation, this magic should be selected from the second circle.
Blake thanked Lynn repeatedly, saying he could ask him for help with anything, and then left with the staff.
Lynn watched as the two figures disappeared through the door of the examination room. When he turned around, he saw the three administrators of the Magic Association looking at him.
Patton placed his hand on his round belly and looked at Lynn with a smile, as if he admired his prized student. However, when he saw out of the corner of his eye that two colleagues were also staring at their prized student with admiration, his face suddenly turned serious.
"Ahem," he coughed twice, putting his fist to his mouth, trying to attract the attention of others, "Don't waste time, hurry up and take the exam."
The other two ignored it.
Adolf, clad in a blue robe, stared at Lynn with a swirling, almost vortex-like light in his eyes, and asked in a slow, deliberate tone:
"Where did you see those remarks you just made?"
Lynn paused for a moment, then chose to be honest and said, "It's just that some recent insights I've had happen to be connected with Mr. Black's magic, so I couldn't help but say it out loud."
Aldorf nodded. He had expected Lynn to answer in this way, but the theory was quite unique and even many senior mages found it difficult to articulate, so he was confirming it.
He smiled and said, "Child, do you know what the root of demonic cultivation that Blue Tower seeks is?"
The origin of magic? The source of the magical path? I'm just an apprentice mage, it's not time for me to think about such profound questions, is it? Lynn thought to himself with a self-deprecating smile.
He shook his head obediently, looking like a well-behaved person waiting for the old man to teach him.
Aldorf continued, "We at Blue Tower focus on spiritual and intellectual practice in order to seek a power that exists only within intelligent beings, a power that transcends everything..."
His gaze was deep and penetrating as he patiently guided, "That is also a kind of magic, an ultimate magic that can create all things and contains all magic! And as you just mentioned, child, this mental power is 'imagination'."
