You were told to search and attack, but you're supporting Asara?

Chapter 10: Visiting General Chi Xiao to Reassure Him, Returning to the Campfire to Express His Feel

Sayed led Farid to a secluded corner, coldly looking at him and saying, "Come on, let's go see General Tariq!"

Farid shuddered at the name, glanced around, and lowered his voice: "Are you crazy! General Tarik has already faked his death and escaped. Going to him now will only give you away!"

"You've got some conscience after all," Said scoffed. "But with something as big as Skynet falling, I can't rest easy unless I see it for myself."

"Besides, there are some things I need his clarification on."

"Now most of the disaster-stricken areas have been taken over by GTI, which is like walking into a trap!" Farid still disagreed.

Saeed reached out and removed the mask from his face, revealing a horrifyingly large, dark, and resolute face that appeared to be covered in scales.

"That'll solve it!"

Beside the campfire, Chen Xiao took a piece of roasted meat from Karim and wolfed it down.

"Not bad, not bad, no wonder you're a flamethrower soldier." Chen Xiao praised, his words muffled as he chewed on the chewy, juicy roasted meat.

"That's right!" Karim proudly raised his head after removing his stubble. "The boss always says that if it weren't for the war, I might have been a good cook."

Sitting to the side, Hakim patted the wire-controlled rocket launcher beside him and said somewhat dejectedly, "This is all I know how to use. If there were no war, I wouldn't even know what to do."

Chen Xiao blinked, looked at the not-so-young rocket soldier and the crude rocket launcher in his hand, and began to mock:

"Judging from what I see in your rocket launcher, it's not very good. When I get the chance, I'll get you a military artillery shell to have some fun. One shot from that thing can blast open the gate of this dam."

Chen Xiao waved his hands and gestured.

Karim and Hajim suddenly became serious: "Listen, kid, whether the boss wants to cooperate with you or not, I advise you not to mess with the dam."

"This is what the people of Asara depend on for their survival. Whoever destroys it, we will never forgive them!"

Chen Xiao was stunned for a moment, then nodded obediently.

Seeing Chen Xiao nod, the two relaxed their serious faces. Hakim fantasized, "If I loaded my rocket launcher with those kinds of shells you mentioned, I could definitely blast that helicopter that was wreaking havoc over Bakshi into nothingness!"

"Then I'll see how those bastards, Hafk and his gang, slink out of Asara with their tails between their legs!"

Chen Xiao didn't respond. He was thinking about whether the people around him were quite disappointed in him when Lao Sai decided to blow up the dam in the story.

When Taric saw the two men crouching in front of him with their heads in their hands, a look of shock appeared on his aged face, which he quickly concealed.

After the GTI staff who had arranged their meeting left, the three of them sat together, looking at each other in bewilderment.

"At a time like this, instead of guarding the dam, what are you doing here to see this old geezer?"

"I'm a little helpless," Taric said.

"You don't need to worry about the dam!" Sayed Said, who had taken off his mask, was like a child who was annoyed by his parents' questioning in front of Tariq.

Tariq sighed, ignoring Said's tone: "The dam was saved, but it was like a falling star that turned Asara into ruins."

"I came here today to talk to you about this," Said said with a grim expression. "Today I caught a GTI guy over at the dam and got some information out of him."

"He said that the fall of Skynet was caused by Reese and..." Said glanced at Faried beside him, "...in collusion with the GTI mole, and they want to cooperate with us to find the GTI mole."

"He did produce some evidence," Sayed sighed. "But I'm still a bit unsure about that kid. After all, GTI's actions over the years haven't been much more glamorous than Hafk's."

"Although Reis is a bit greedy, he's still an Assara, and I still don't quite believe he can..."

"Hatred narrows one's vision, Said." Taric looked at the conflicted old Said. "Isn't this place you're in right now the GTI's aid station?"

"You weren't in the village when the satellite crashed yesterday," Tariq said calmly. "Several SUVs with GTI badges came to the village that day."

"I personally witnessed a girl and a boy risking their lives to pull Amir's children out of the rubble."

Will the person who started the fire go to put it out?

"You... saw it clearly?" Said looked at Tarik with a serious expression.

"I am getting old," Tariq said, gazing at the now independent young man. "But my eyes have never been wrong, including in yours."

"You've forgotten? I used to be a hunter too."

"I understand..." Said nodded heavily, "I originally thought Reis was smart and tough, and that we would still need him to revive Asara."

"But if that's really the case, I should kill that bastard Reis!"

"Go do your thing, I don't need your help here." Tarik picked up the water glass next to him and took a sip.

Saeed and Farid got up and walked out of the shelter.

Suddenly, a person blocked their way, instantly putting them on edge.

"Gentlemen, it's dangerous outside. If you still haven't been able to contact any family members, you can ask us to help you search."

The two men frowned as they looked at the young girl with braided pigtails in front of them.

"Go out for a walk." Said shoved Lina, who was blocking his way, and walked out with those words.

Lina tried anxiously to call out to him, but Tarik behind her spoke kindly, "It's alright, child. The satellite crash is over. He'll be fine."

"Believe me, no one knows this land better than him."

······

It was already past midnight when Saeed returned.

Beside the campfire in the military camp, Chen Xiao had already put his arms around Hakim and Karim's shoulders, calling them brothers with a thick tongue, and even said that the wine here was so-so, and that he would ask the instructor for some "water of life" to try and taste its saltiness.

Upon seeing Said return, the two quickly shoved Chen Xiao aside, stood up, and angrily said, "Boss, it's one thing for these GTI guys to have a low alcohol tolerance, but their behavior when drunk is equally appalling! They even said our liquor is no good!"

"During the National Day month, I'm definitely going to get that kid a cup of Assara Flavor to shut him up!"

"Alright." Sayed waved his hand. "Wake him up. I have something to say to him."

"Alright, boss." Hakim nimbly grabbed a basin of water and was about to splash it on Chen Xiao's head.

With lightning speed, Sayyid kicked him, pot and all, to the ground: "Who taught you to treat guests like this?"

Hakim lay half-reclined on the ground, staring blankly at Said: "No... Boss, he... this..."

"What do you mean, 'what do you mean, 'what do you mean'? Get some hangover soup!"

Hakim was almost in tears: "Boss, we always just drink and then go to sleep. What is this hangover soup? None of us have ever tried it."

Saeed opened his mouth, then waved his hand helplessly: "Pfft!"

Hakim, who had been kicked for no reason, cried and filled a basin with cold water again, then splashed it on Chen Xiao's head.

"Ptooey! Ptooey!!" Chen Xiao sat up abruptly, spitting out the water he'd just drunk. "We were just drinking together, how come you Asara people change your tune faster than women..."

"Let's talk about cooperation," Sayed said, sitting down opposite Chen Xiao with an air of authority, interrupting his complaints.
