You were told to search and attack, but you're supporting Asara?

Chapter 13 The Tower of Babel casts a silent shadow, and the old echoes of Relink linger.

"Wheat is right," Lina said, her lips pressed tightly together. "Headquarters might tolerate your unilateral cooperation with Red Owl, and they might even tolerate your cooperation with Reis and Yousef, but they will never tolerate you teaming up with Hafk!"

"I didn't say I wanted to implant that thing. I just wanted to get a brain-computer interface to study." Chen Xiao didn't expect them to react so strongly, and he chuckled awkwardly to make amends: "Besides, a head-mounted device and an implanted brain-computer interface are different."

"If you just want to study brain-computer interfaces, then I suggest you get along well with Zoya," Deep Blue suddenly joked, his words clearly aimed at easing the tense atmosphere.

"Perhaps, but it seems rather difficult at the moment." Chen Xiao shrugged and took the opportunity to back down: "If that new operator fails to complete the mission, then I do have an idea to solve the communication problem, but in that case, it depends on Dr. Zoya's follow-up actions."

······

"Anonymous, location confirmed."

In the pitch-black night at the foot of the Tower of Babel, a ghostly black shadow was silently slithering.

Zoya was met with silence.

Zoya scratched her head in frustration: "Listen, our deal is clear. I'll help you remove the brain-computer interface to get rid of Hafk, and you'll hack into the Skynet terminal and restore GTI communications."

"Some people within the organization are already pessimistic about your operation. Respond immediately!"

"Bang." A faint gunshot rang out in the night. A figure holding a sniper rifle lay limply on the ground, blood seeping into the cracks between the bricks, his body twitching unconsciously.

A masked figure emerged steadily from the shadows, the lightning that tore through the sky illuminating his slender frame and flowing long hair, his cold, azure eyes carrying a hint of the sensuality typical of the French.

He crouched down and checked the pulse of the fallen man with his fingers. After confirming that he had no vital signs, he said softly, "I'm in position."

His body was wrapped in a matte black full-body tactical suit, flowing into the Tower of Babel like a shadow.

In front of the data room of the Ocean Monitoring Office, two Hafk soldiers stood guard with guns, and under the GG sign that read "Hafk Space", the shadow was already close at hand.

The Whisper tactical silencer emerged from around the corner, accurately striking the chest of an oncoming Hafk soldier. Another soldier felt a warm liquid splash onto his Kevlar body armor.

His strong military skills allowed him to immediately draw his gun, turn around, and point it in the direction from which the bullets came, but the other side was clearly faster!

"Da da, da," three bullets struck him in a triangle, hitting his chest and forehead respectively, and he was silent in an instant.

Long, slender fingers pressed against the fingerprint lock, and a synthesized female voice greeted them:

Welcome home.

"The archives are safe." The nameless man, holding a K437, cautiously stepped into the dark house.

"Gu received." Zoya's magnetic voice rang in Wuming's ears: "Find the Skynet terminal as soon as possible!"

Just as Wuming was about to reply, a sudden change occurred.

"Welcome home, Nameless." A sharp pain shot through the brain-computer interface behind him, and the unforgettable male voice bypassed his eardrums and entered his brain directly:

"I've said it before, you are the best fit for Relink."

"Don't resist..."

"Accept it..."

The pale gold brain-computer interface flashed red light continuously, and the man's voice penetrated his brain like a bone-deep infection.

The nameless man's pupils suddenly contracted; he could no longer bear the whispers and stinging pain in his mind, and roared to the sky, "Get out of my brain!!"

"Intruder!!"

Suddenly, a flurry of footsteps sounded outside the data room. The door burst open, and the bright beam of a tactical flashlight shone in. Wuming rolled over and hid behind the server room, panting heavily.

Several symbolic gunshots rang out, shotgun bullets whizzing around him, but Commander Hafk, still unable to hear anything, cautiously gestured twice with tactical hand signals and gave the order: "Search the surrounding area!"

The Hafk soldiers poured in and advanced in two groups toward the nameless hideout, the bright beams of their tactical flashlights already within reach.

The nameless man sat on the ground, glanced up at the light switch illuminated by the bright light bearing the Hafk logo, and snorted coldly:

"Let's create some panic..."

He flipped a switch on his left arm, and the "Dark Domain" jammer quietly activated, its soft hissing sound like a lover's low moans in his ear.

The T7 night vision goggles covered his eyes, and the 7.62 bullet accurately hit the light switch, plunging the data room into darkness. Commander Hafk, who was searching forward, felt a sudden sinking feeling in his heart.

The two teams of soldiers gripped their gun barrels tightly, as if only the light from their tactical flashlights could give them a sense of security.

The surrounding darkness was so intense it sent chills down my spine.

With a thud, a heavy object fell to the ground, and the nearby Hafk soldier realized with a start that his comrade had died beside him.

Before he could even turn around, a bullet had already pierced the back of his head.

"He's here!!"

The last remaining soldier in the three-man squad let out a terrified howl and fired his gun into the darkness in a fit of rage.

The sound of bullets piercing flesh made him cry out in surprise, like a fish dying of thirst: "I hit him!"

Before he could finish speaking, a bright yellow bullet pierced his eye socket. Through the overflowing blood, he vaguely saw his teammate's mangled corpse, riddled with bullets from a shotgun, fall down alongside him.

Another group of Hafk soldiers came following the sound, only to find corpses lying haphazardly.

Watch out behind you!

The red cross inside K437's hologram was already aimed at his temple.

Two bullets instantly took his life.

"side!!"

The tactical flashlight shone on it, but only a blurry black shadow appeared and disappeared in an instant.

Unable to bear the fear any longer, a Hafk soldier lunged forward with a scream, then shuddered and fell to the ground.

The captain behind him seized the opportunity, raised his gun and fired. The thick darkness tore open a wound, and a stream of blood spurted out.

The captain quickly looked over, but the man was nowhere to be seen. Then, a heavy thud was heard behind him.

In the labyrinthine archives, in the deep darkness, death silently reaped their lives.

Child of the night, silent and nameless!

The 11-man Hafk tactical squad was wiped out in this short distance, with no chance of survival left.

Wuming let out a soft breath, turned off the "Black Domain" jammer, and calmly walked towards the data room control terminal.

The Skynet Log System loaded successfully without any obstacles, and Zoya's voice rang out at the opportune moment: "Report the situation, has the terminal been found?"

"The terminal isn't here." Wuming looked at all the information about himself displayed on the screen, and said in a deep voice, "We've been tricked."

"Thump, thump, thump, thump!" Several dull thuds were followed by a blinding white light that illuminated the archives room once again, dispelling all darkness.

"I wasn't mistaken, you're still the best one."

A relieved male voice came from the electronic eye behind him, and Wuming suddenly turned around to look.

"I knew you would come back..." The man behind the screen toyed with the ring on his index finger, gently moving the black and white chess pieces on the exquisite chessboard. "But you need to understand..."

"It's not that Hafk needs you, it's that you need Hafk."

"We...are the future!"
