Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds: The Path of Evolution

"One side is a dreamer from outside of Neo-Domino City, a Kanpaku player using a next-generation deck!"

"On the other side is Karen Lin, the rising star of today's dueling world, who has crushed all her opponents with sheer luck!"

"Will Karen continue her winning streak, or will Kanpaku create a miracle and crush her opponent? Let's wait and see!"

As the host announced the start of the duel, the two stepped onto the arena and stood apart.

"I hereby declare the tenth match of the Pre-Clock Cup Tournament to begin!"

The two unfurled their duel disks and shouted simultaneously.

"Duel!!"

[Kanpaku LP: 4000]

Karen Lin LP: 4000

"I'll strike first!"

Kanpaku secured the first strike.

"My turn, draw a card!"

"Normal Summon, Next-Generation Neutron Man".

The ripples of pale blue light spread out in concentric circles, causing the air to ripple as if it were being stirred.

The tall, black robot slowly emerged, its mechanical wings spewing flames that propelled the neutron man to hover above and in front of Guan Bai.

"Set one card face down, end turn."

"At the end of the turn, activate the effect of Next Generation Neutron Man to add one Machine-Type Tuner monster from your Deck to your hand."

"I chose to join the hand card as a next-generation controller."

Guan Bai looked at the cards in the opponent's hand and observed Karen's expression.

Karen was clearly smiling.

It seems his hand is just as good as it was in the previous nine games.

"My turn, draw a card!"

"Activate the Spell Card, Holy Grail Ace. Flip a coin. If the result is face up, I can draw two cards!"

They're not even going to act anymore!

Completely ignoring the side effect of throwing to the inside, which would cause the opponent to draw two.

Basically, you're sure you'll get heads, right?

Why are you still pretending to gamble on luck? Just replace the Holy Grail A with the Pot of Greed!

The card image of the Ace of Cups appeared on the field, and under the influence of a mysterious force, it began to spin, eventually coming to rest face up.

"It's heads up, I'll draw two cards!"

Karen quickly drew two cards and then inserted one into the Duel Disk.

"Then activate the perpetuity spell, a second chance!"

"While this card is on the field, it can only be used once per turn. When the effect of my coin toss applies, it allows me to toss it again."

Guan Bai watched his opponent's actions and was somewhat speechless.

Whether it's genuine luck or cheating, you're sure to get the coin you want every time, right?

Then why are you even activating this card?

Are you just putting on an act to avoid being recognized?

Or is it that you're using unnecessary steps to make yourself seem more technically skilled?

"Finally, I usually summon a one-hit kill Samurai!"

The warrior in samurai armor reappeared, his naginata spinning and flying as he bravely pointed it at his opponent.

The appearance of the one-hit kill Samurai inevitably reminded Kanpaku of the soybean series of emojis.

Just thinking about the effects of this monster makes Kanpaku feel like he's about to break out in a sweat.

Karen suddenly waved her hand.

"Battle Phase: One-Hit Kill Samurai, Attack the Next-Generation Neutron Man!"

"Activate the monster effect of the One-Hit Kill Samurai. During the damage step of its battle with a monster, flip a coin and guess the face value."

"If you guess correctly, you can destroy your monster directly!"

If you only look at the literal meaning...

That monster is just a variance monster whose effects cannot be reliably activated.

But when you add Karen's ability to always guess the coin, it becomes terrifying.

It can't destroy a monster directly in battle even once per turn. This is practically a calamity bug that can be summoned!

And it's the plus version, because the Calamity Bug can't directly destroy Dark-attribute monsters!

"I bet it's heads!"

With a crisp clinking sound, the coins flew up and fell, reflecting light on the ground.

—It is indeed the front.

Karen, unsurprised and with a smug expression, shouted loudly.

"One-hit kill Samurai, Lucky Slash!!"

A strong brownish-yellow flash of light wrapped around the naginata that could kill with a single blow, and its silhouette transformed into a meteor streak across the ground.

The next generation of neutron humans was pierced and destroyed!

"Cover two cards, end turn."

The turn of the recluse.

"My turn, draw a card."

He looked somewhat surprised when he saw the card that had been drawn.

"What's wrong? Were you scared by my monster?"

Karen looked at Guan Bai with feigned concern, trying to outdo him in terms of presence.

Guan Bai showed him the answer through his actions.

"Activate the Spell Card, Mind Change. Target your One-Hit Kill Samurai and gain control of it."

"What?!"

The one-hit kill shield that was the absolute shield was taken away so easily!

Our attacking third is completely open, which is perfect for them to get inside!

But it's okay.

Karen looked towards her backcourt, where the trap cards were placed to ensure she would never get hurt!

Moreover, the effect of Heart Change only lasts for one round.

Once the turn ends, the One-Hit Kill Samurai will return to his field!

However, the actions of the regent will not go as he wishes.

"Normal summoning of next-generation controllers."

I'm going to use your monster as Synchro Material for my monster!

"I'll use a level 4, one-hit kill Samurai, plus a three-star next-generation controller to adjust the star level!"

"The combined power born of war, coalescing in the symphony of gears and electricity, heralds the prologue to the end!"

"Summoning of Synchro Forces, Allied Next-Generation Tri-Force!"

The flowing energy surged down from above, stirring up plumes of smoke, like an opening act that drew the attention of all the spectators.

As the three-colored lights rotate and the mechanical sound of gears turning fills the air, the mighty Allied warriors make their entrance!

The appearance of the Synchro Monster made Karen's eyes narrow.

He never expected that this so-called person from the countryside would actually possess unimaginable fighting power.

They've even mastered Synchro Summoning!

Ha, too bad, even if you have amazing card skills, you can't beat me!

Guan Bai waved his hand.

"Battle Phase"

"Next-generation Tri-Force Man, direct attack!"

Karen gave a sinister smile, about to unleash the shouts of the living dead from the backcourt.

However, he found that no matter how he pressed the button, the Duel Disk did not respond at all.

"Why isn't the effect activated? What did you do?!"

Is this a suspicion that he also used some kind of black technology to prevent the other side from using magic or traps?

"Ha, don't assume others are as dark as you."

Guan Bai curled his lip in disdain.

He loudly proclaimed the effects of the Three-Force Man.

"If this card, which is an EARTH card, attacks using Synchro Material, you cannot activate Spell/Trap Cards until the end of the Damage Step!"

"So, blast the enemy down, Tri-Force Cannon!!"
