Marvel: Starting with the forced creation of villainous characters
Chapter 73 Bruce thought he was the Lord of Shadows.
Chapter 73 Bruce thought he was the Lord of Shadows.
There's no way around it, Mister Sinister is just too powerful. In the Marvel universe, Mister Sinister is a rare all-around villain, and his role is similar to Doctor Doom.
One cultivates both technology and mutation, while the other cultivates both technology and magic.
If a person only walks a single path, he is not worried. The most typical example is Magneto. If he had read more books, he wouldn't have messed up his magnetic field control so badly.
Of course, this refers to the movie version of Magneto; the comic book version is not necessarily the same, since the comic book Magneto even strengthens his body through magnetic fields.
Logan, feeling ignored, asked somewhat irritably, "What about me? Aren't you going to invite me to join?"
He's a World War II veteran, still receiving a pension, yet this kid in front of him doesn't even look at this experienced veteran.
Mark glanced at the other person with some disdain, then shook his head and said, "Forget about you."
He just looks down on Wolverine.
There are two conditions for joining the Illuminati: either be among the top ten of that race, or be among the top ten of that race.
Leaving aside Wolverine's intelligence, his strength is also not strong. Among mutants, Wolverine's strength would definitely not be in the top ten.
Of course, more importantly, his villainous aura doesn't affect him.
When Caliban saw this, a hint of disappointment flashed in his eyes. He knew that Mark hadn't taken a liking to him either, but unlike Wolverine, he didn't want to humiliate himself.
Charles asked curiously, "So what are we supposed to do after we join the Illuminati?"
Mark explained, "Someone will contact you when the time comes; just do what you like for now."
Professor X and his team's greatest value now is to charge ahead and draw Mr. Sinister's fire for him, while he tries to loot the supplies from behind.
As a qualified villain, hiding behind the protagonist group and looting their supplies is a must.
After Mark finished speaking, he deactivated the mirror image.
Eric's face turned serious as he watched Mark suddenly disappear before their eyes. He hadn't seen how Mark had vanished.
Caliban said quietly, "Stop looking. What you just saw was just one of its clones."
Charles quickly stopped worrying about the fact that what they were seeing was a clone, because he had more important things to do now.
"Caliban, do you know of any other superhumans around here?"
"There are a few superpowered individuals in Hell's Kitchen. We can go check it out. Normally, those who have awakened the X-gene tend to prefer staying in chaotic areas like this," Caliban quickly said.
Charles nodded. "Then let's go look in Hell's Kitchen."
"If we can't find it in Hell's Kitchen, we might have to check out Arkley Genetics," Eric added.
If Hell's Kitchen weren't so close, he would have loved to go and cause trouble for Arklay Genetics right away.
S.H.I.E.L.D., Trident Building, in the director's office.
Nick Fury has broken his guard again.
Looking at the intelligence in his hand, Nick Fury pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling a bit of a headache.
One wave subsides only for another to rise.
The long-dormant mutants are showing signs of resurgence; he is aware of Arklay Genetics' genetic eradication plan.
As the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., he would be happy to see no more mutants born among humans.
Because mutants mean instability, and no one is certain that among those awakened mutants, another kind of mutant might emerge—
A cataclysmic disaster is about to occur.
Take, for example, the "Phoenix Girl" rampage incident ten years ago.
Professor X and Magneto become younger.
But the problem is—
With a serious expression, Nick Fury picked up the phone on his desk: "I need to go to Refrigerator Jail."
Refrigerator Prison is a top-secret prison with 100 floors and heavy security, and it also serves as a storage room.
Nick Fury, aboard a secret train, arrives deep within the Refrigerator prison.
Inside a transparent plastic enclosure, Nick Fury stares intently at the old man with his single eye.
The old man huddled in the innermost corner of the cell, his sparse, gray hair plastered messily to his sunken head and the sides of his ears.
If Professor X were here, he would definitely recognize this old man.
Magneto, who should have died, now huddled alone in a corner like an ordinary old man.
Nick Fury called out in a deep voice, "Eric!"
Upon hearing the name, Magneto looked up at Nick Fury. His cloudy eyes were devoid of any light, filled only with a desolate and lifeless emptiness.
Nick Fury asked, "Do you have any other sons in this world? Or clones?"
Magneto did not answer him, but instead lowered his head again and buried his face in his arms.
He didn't want to answer the question because quite a few people had obtained his genetic sample.
Besides, he doesn't care about these things anymore. If a clone really goes out of control outside, he would be happy instead.
In his view, those clones were a continuation of his life.
Seeing that Magneto was not willing to cooperate, Nick Fury continued his verbal attack: "My people saw you and Professor X when you were young, and they seem to be preparing to continue to smear mutants."
Upon hearing this, Magneto looked up again, this time with a hint of mockery on his face.
That look in his eyes was like watching a clown's one-man show in a circus.
Now that mutants are practically extinct, would he still care about their reputation? Even if mutants were still around, he wouldn't care about their reputation.
Thanks to the propaganda of those powerful and wealthy individuals, the reputation of mutants has long been rotten to the core.
Nick Fury said coldly, "It doesn't matter if you don't answer, those two guys will be coming in to keep you company soon anyway."
.
After his verbal attacks went unanswered, Nick Fury could only turn and leave with a gloomy expression.
Nick Fury never intended to torture Magneto, nor did he intend to kill him, or even to disable Magneto's superpowers.
The elderly Magneto was very strong, undeniably so.
Such a powerful being is useful; at least when alien invaders arrive and Earth is utterly defeated, he can release these people to carry out humanity's "revenge."
This is also why he kept these extraordinary criminals around; they could be monitored, controlled, or utilized, but they couldn't be wasted.
Having failed to get an answer from Magneto, Nick Fury could only send more people to keep an eye on organizations related to mutants.
He knew about the research being conducted behind the scenes by Essex's subsidiaries, but so what?
Those studies were tacitly approved by the government, because the government also craved controlled supernatural powers and wanted to reap the benefits.
After all, he always believed that only by possessing greater power could he better protect the world.
"Hopefully they won't muddy the waters too much," Nick Fury thought to himself.
Back in his office, Nick Fury summoned his trusted lieutenant, Coulson.
"Coulson, I have a task for you." Nick Fury handed the file to Coulson.
After Coulson took the documents, Nick Fury said, "I need you to go and talk to them, ask them about their purpose and background."
Coulson didn't answer, but instead carefully flipped through the documents in his hands.
A moment later, Coulson closed the file: "Yes, sir."
"Be careful, and try not to get into a conflict with them," Nick Fury added.
If Charles and his team have problems, he'll use Arklay Genetics to cause them trouble, rather than using S.H.I.E.L.D.'s power to wear them down.
After Coulson left, Nick Fury went to the floor-to-ceiling window.
Looking out at the brightly lit New York City, Nick Fury let out a long sigh of relief.
What a beautiful city!
He absolutely will not allow anyone to destroy this city.
Because of Caliban, Mark stopped sending clones to track them and instead contacted members of the Shadow Touch, asking them to secretly help Charles's team.
Little St. James Island
Even after several months, the stench of blood on the island has not dissipated.
Looking at the desolate island before him, Bruce sighed.
This island has been abandoned for some time, so finding clues about the Lord of Shadows here will likely be very difficult.
Bruce carefully searched every inch of the facilities on the island.
All the valuables on the island had been moved, and Bruce searched for half a day without finding anything.
Just as he was about to give up, Bruce suddenly stopped.
He looked thoughtfully at the artificial lake in front of him.
He had searched every place, but it seemed he hadn't searched for the artificial hill in the middle of the lake yet.
Bruce fired his grappling hook and used the momentum to reach the artificial hill in the middle of the lake.
After some searching, Bruce finally found the mechanism hidden in the artificial hill. Without hesitation, Bruce opened the mechanism.
-
The artificial hill beneath his feet began to shake, and after it split into four, a secret passage leading deep underground appeared before him.
Bruce turned on the chest light and then cautiously stepped into the dark passageway.
There were no traps in the passage, and the lights on both sides of the passage turned on automatically after he entered.
After walking along the passage for a long time, Bruce finally arrived at a secret room.
In the center of the secret chamber is a circular arched platform, surrounded by a waterway similar to a moat.
The riverbed was filled with countless bones, all of which were relatively small and clearly not from an adult.
"As expected, they are cult priests," Bruce muttered with a grim expression.
Looking at the skeletons underwater, Bruce's already gloomy face darkened even more.
"You beast!" Bruce cursed through gritted teeth.
Bruce then carefully examined the reliefs on the walls of the secret room.
According to the descriptions on those reliefs, the people on the island used to worship an evil god from another dimension who possessed extremely powerful dark forces.
It also says that as long as a pure soul is sacrificed, the dimensional evil god will bestow blessings. These blessings may include the cure of diseases, increased energy, or even rejuvenation.
However, these blessings are time-limited; a pure soul can only receive one month of blessings.
"Lord of Shadows, I've finally found you!" Bruce muttered through gritted teeth, his eyes filled with murderous intent.
Mark, who took the blame for Dormammu: "————"
Fortunately, Mark wasn't here, otherwise he would definitely protest his innocence, since he controls the power of shadow, not the power of darkness.
Besides, he has no right to try and take advantage of Dormammu!
