FATE: Target of Grand Master
Chapter 28 The Final Battle at the Top
Sword Marshal killed several sea demons in succession and charged towards Magic Marshal.
Marshal Shu seemed surprised by his own youthful courage, unafraid even of these monsters. He immediately opened the Snail Annihilation City Bible, preparing to summon a large sea monster.
Xia Yan, standing to the side, was enjoying a classic Type-Moon scene: "I'm fighting myself," while dodging the sea monster's attacks.
When Xia Yan noticed that Marshal Shu was about to reopen the Luoyan City grimoire, he immediately shouted, "Cut down that magic book!"
Upon hearing Xia Yan's prompting, Marshal Jian understood immediately and thrust his sword at the Luoyan City cult manual.
The moment the sword tip pierced the grimoire, the grimoire of the City of Desolation spontaneously combusted.
"No! My magic book!"
Marshal Shu lay on the ground in a very disheveled state, patting the burning grimoire in an attempt to extinguish the fire, but the grimoire's spontaneous combustion was ultimately irreversible.
Marshal Jian silently watched Marshal Shu. In fact, the moment their eyes met, he knew that the guy dressed like a cultist was himself.
However, he didn't understand why he had become like that.
He grabbed Marshal Shu by the collar and lifted him up.
"Tell me, where is your fake Joan of Arc? And where did you teleport our Joan of Arc here?"
Marshal Shu seemed to have collapsed in despair because the magic book was destroyed, and he didn't say a word.
Marshal Jian pressed his sword against Marshal Shu's neck and roared, "Speak!"
"You will eventually understand that this world does not deserve Joan of Arc."
After saying that, Marshal Shu produced a cloud of black mist in his hand and smeared it on Marshal Jian's face.
Sword Marshal hurriedly used his arms to defend himself, only to discover that the black mist was just an illusion.
When he looked at Marshal Shu again, the other man pressed his hand on a brick on the wall, activated a displacement spell, and escaped.
Marshal Jian immediately stepped forward and touched the brick, but it had no effect.
"Damn it, this is a one-time use spell."
Marshal Jian slammed his fist against the wall, feeling remorseful for his carelessness.
"Chief, where do we go next?"
Because the scriptures of Luoyan City were destroyed, the summoned sea demons immediately lost their vitality and were quickly wiped out by the rebel soldiers.
Now is not the time to be discouraged; I must lead my troops to reunite with Joan of Arc.
After regrouping, the group continued upwards and finally returned to the ground.
Siegfried joined the group as they passed through the courtyard.
Judging from his almost unscathed state, his battle with Atalanta appears to have been a crushing victory.
According to Fei Ge, Atalanta intentionally held back, so most of the attacks were blocked by the Dragon Blood Armor.
Xia Yan thought for a moment and realized that even if Atalanta, whose Noble Phantasm was only C-rank, went all out, she still couldn't break through the Blood of the Dragon Armor, which could nullify physical attacks and magic equivalent to B-rank attacks.
Fei Ge is really a gentle person.
With Siegfried leading the way, the group moved much faster and soon arrived at the top floor of the castle.
"Roar! My wrath!"
Jeanne Alter's Noble Phantasm completely demolished the castle's roof, and the ground was covered with spikes and flames summoned by the Noble Phantasm, giving people the illusion of being in hell.
Jeanne darts weaves between spikes and flames, trying to get close to Black Jeanne, but is constantly thwarted by newly grown spikes and cannot succeed.
Diao Yunshang, Lü Bu, and the remaining half of the rebels stood aside and never joined the battle.
"Joan of Arc, I'm here to help you!"
Upon seeing this, Marshal Jian immediately tried to rush over, but was loudly stopped by Joan of Arc.
"Jill, don't come any closer. She possesses the Holy Grail and has near-limitless magical power. None of your companions without ranged attack capabilities should approach her rashly."
Previously, Joan of Arc and Lü Bu arrived at the top floor at almost the same time, successfully stopping her at the last moment of the Black Joan of Arc's summoning ritual.
Enraged, Jeanne Alter abandoned the idea of summoning a new Servant and directly engaged in battle with two Servants.
However, Lu Bu was not in his best condition after several battles and the release of his Noble Phantasm. Diao Yunshang dared not take the risk and immediately summoned Lu Bu back, using a Command Spell to order him not to risk an attack.
Jeanne d'Arc could understand Diao Yunshang's decision, but in order to buy time for the other Servants of the resistance who had not yet arrived, she rushed into Jeanne d'Arc Alter's attack range without hesitation, and successfully attracted most of Jeanne d'Arc Alter's attention.
"Hahaha, country girl, even if you have ranged attack methods, you can't hurt me."
With a wave of her hand, Jeanne Alter unleashed several more sharp spikes from the floor, which she narrowly avoided.
"She's right."
Lu Bu picked up a brick and threw it at Jeanne Alter.
The bricks were pierced by countless spikes halfway through their flight, preventing them from getting close at all.
"Any physical attack that has a physical form cannot cause any damage. I just had Lu Bu shoot an arrow. With the story of shooting the halberd at the gate as a bonus, the power of Lu Bu's arrow was comparable to a rocket launcher, but it still couldn't even touch Jeanne Alter's body due to the obstruction of countless spikes and flames," Diao Yunshang added.
"Looks like I'm the only one who can do it now."
Siegfried raised the greatsword above his head, and magic power continuously gathered towards it, even including the magic power that sustained his spirit origin.
Jeanne Alter sensed the threat posed by Siegfried and immediately commanded countless spikes to fly towards him.
Clang! Clang!
Lu Bu and the Sword Marshal severed all of Black Jeanne's spikes.
"Even if we can't attack, our defense is still fine."
Lu Bu's words allowed Siegfried to focus intently on gathering his magic.
After signaling his men to make way, Siegfried unleashed the magic of his greatsword, sending a beam of light crashing down from the sky.
"My mana is almost depleted; let this be my final strike. Noble Phantasm! Fantasy Greatsword: Fallen Demon!"
Damn it! That trick again! That damned dragon slayer, I should have killed him first!
Despite her deep regret, there's no going back in reality.
Siegfried's Noble Phantasm was even more powerful than the one that killed Fafnir, splitting the castle where they were located in two. Even Jeanne Alter, who possessed the Holy Grail, dared not take the hit head-on.
In order to avoid Siegfried's Noble Phantasm, Jeanne Alter had to stop her endless Noble Phantasm attacks, which gave Jeanne the opportunity to get close.
Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!
Joan of Arc waved her huge white banner, which clashed repeatedly with Black Joan of Arc's black banner, producing a series of sounds.
"Country girl, do you know what I hate most about you? It's this stubborn, pretentious look on your face."
After the previous exertion, Joan of Arc's armor was tattered and her magic power was clearly waning.
"What's so great about this country that it's worth risking your life to protect it?"
Black Jeanne raised her foot and kicked Joan of Arc in the stomach, causing her to stagger back several steps.
Joan of Arc remained unmoved by Jeanne Alter's words, instead asking, "I understand even less why you hate this country so much? Are you truly the reverse of me—Jeanne Dalque?"
Black Jeanne looked at him like he was an idiot.
"Huh? What are you talking about? Has insufficient magic power affected your brain? I have the same face as you, the same voice, and the same memories of betrayal and burning. If I'm not you, then who am I?"
"Alright, since that's the case, let me ask you, do you remember the name of the village where I lived before I joined the army?"
Jeanne Alter: ......
Joan of Arc pressed on, "Do you remember your mother's name?"
Jeanne Alter: "I forgot. My heart can hold nothing but anger."
"No, you haven't forgotten, you simply don't remember. Because you are not me."
After a series of questions, Joan of Arc finally confirmed her guess.
As a saint, Joan of Arc could never be "summoned from the other side." The Black Jeanne before her was merely a counterfeit, a mixture of anger, prejudice, and obsession, using her appearance.
