Diamond Ace's Passionate Swing
Chapter 28 Hellish Intensive Training
The meal is over.
It had gotten completely dark.
With a snap, all the stadium lights turned on instantly.
Bright lights illuminated the entire stadium, signaling the official start of the evening's training session.
"Shuttle runs, twenty laps." The assistant coach's voice rang out on the court, clear and powerful.
Upon hearing the order, Sawamura charged out confidently, a hint of disdain on his face.
"I usually run while dragging a tire, so this is nothing."
Sawamura thought smugly as he finished a training session, feeling that it was a piece of cake for him.
"Ninety-second break in the middle," the teaching assistant said immediately. "Go on, Sawamura."
Sawamura was startled when he heard this.
I didn't expect the break to be so short; I'd only had a short time to think.
"So fast?"
He blurted it out without thinking, but quickly composed himself and prepared to set off again.
"One hundred base runs." The assistant coach stood at home plate, holding a stopwatch, and solemnly timed everyone.
At first, Sawamura was able to maintain a good pace, but after running for a while, his breathing rhythm began to become disordered.
He was panting heavily.
Kominato and Furuya weren't in much better shape either; no one could easily adapt to such high-intensity base running training from the start.
Lin Xiao, who was behind them, seemed particularly relaxed.
He kept repeating the base-running motion, circling first base, second base, third base, and finally sprinting to home plate, his movements smooth and steady, as if he never got tired.
"First graders, no slacking off allowed."
Seeing the state of Sawamura and his two friends, a senior student couldn't help but shout, "Look at Lin Xiao, and then look at yourselves!"
"Run now!"
The three of them had no time to listen to what their senior was saying; they just wanted to recover some strength as quickly as possible.
"I... I haven't caught my breath yet."
Sawamura looked at the timekeeper with a pained expression, his eyes full of helplessness.
"Go on, Sawamura," the timekeeper urged mercilessly.
"No way."
Sawamura could only continue dragging his weary legs and running forward with difficulty.
"Go, Furuya."
Upon hearing the command, Furuya, though exhausted, gritted his teeth and persevered, thinking, "This training can't possibly be difficult for me."
However, his speed noticeably slowed down, and his base-running rhythm became somewhat erratic.
"What's going on? You're all losing your rhythm. Do you want to start running from the beginning?"
"Lin Xiao's story ended a long time ago."
"What are you three trying to do? Run faster." Seeing their condition, the assisting team members couldn't help but verbally provoke the three of them.
"Damn it!" Sawamura shouted angrily, unable to contain his weakness, his heart filled with resentment.
Despite his physical discomfort, he persevered and continued running the bases.
Time passed by, second by second.
Every base run was an ordeal for Sawamura, Furuya, and Kominato.
Their legs grew heavier and heavier, their breathing became more and more rapid, and sweat rolled down their foreheads, soaking their clothes.
Finally, the 100 base running drills were over.
Sawamura, Furuya, and Kominato finally completed this arduous base running training.
Furuya was completely exhausted. He lay on the ground unconsciously, his eyes closed and his chest heaving violently.
Kominato was no longer able to stand up and could only squat on the ground, supporting himself on his knees with his hands, panting heavily.
"this..."
"this..."
"This kind of life... I'll have to live like this for a week," Sawamura thought to himself, a look of despair on his face.
He simply couldn't imagine spending the next week in such intense training.
"Alright, that's enough for the first day," Coach Kataoka's voice came through.
Sawamura was overjoyed. "I'm... I'm saved." He looked like he was about to collapse, thinking that he could finally end this painful training.
However, Coach Kataoka hadn't finished speaking: "Before the team disbands, run 20 laps around the field one last time."
"Everyone, cheer up and shout out the rhythm!"
Upon hearing this, Sawamura's lips instantly puffed out; this wasn't an attempt to act cute.
Instead, it was because the food he ate that evening rose up in his throat after strenuous exercise, and he almost vomited.
Lin Xiao stood in front of Ze Cun and couldn't help but laugh when he saw this scene.
"Hahaha," he laughed so hard he couldn't stand up straight.
He reminded him, "Sawamura, if you spit it out, you're wasting food, and you'll be punished if the coach sees you."
Sawamura was unable to speak at this moment, but his expression clearly showed his thoughts.
It was an expression that conveyed both anger and helplessness.
"Cheer up!" Yuki shouted, his voice full of strength.
"Yes," everyone replied in unison.
Although exhausted, I mustered my strength and prepared to start this final run around the track.
"1234..." The group started running around the court, shouting the rhythm as they ran.
......
The second day of training.
On Court A.
Ping!
Ping!
Ping!
Frequent sounds of batting could be heard as the team members practiced their striking.
Lin Xiao stood in the batter's box, his posture upright and his eyes focused. The bat in his hand swung more and more smoothly.
Yuki stood to the side, watching Lin Xiao's outstanding performance with a gratified smile. Shirasu and Sakata were also watching Lin Xiao's performance closely, their eyes revealing a hint of worry.
Lin Xiao is not only a pitcher, but also an outstanding outfielder.
Even if the coach doesn't let him pitch, but puts him in the outfield, his hitting ability can still be a great help to the team.
This idea instilled a strong sense of crisis in them, and they understood that they could only work harder now to avoid falling behind others.
"Alright, watch this!" Sawamura shouted, confidently swinging his big stick.
However, the ball went under his bat, and he missed his target.
Everyone stared at Sawamura speechlessly, their eyes seeming to say, "Is this guy really reliable?"
Lin Xiao turned his head away helplessly and muttered to himself, "It's too embarrassing to be in the same class as Sawamura."
"Damn it, I must have been too tired yesterday." Sawamura scratched his head awkwardly, making excuses for his mistake.
"Fine, go practice catching the ball." The assistant coach looked at Sawamura helplessly.
"Two hundred swings, plus catching drills and running." The assistant coach assigned Sawamura a new training task.
Sawamura was devastated. "He practiced so much in one go without even having breakfast."
Lin Xiao looked at the busy Sawamura and shook his head.
Morning exercise over.
He walked up to Sawamura, Furuya, and Kominato, and greeted them, "Hey, are you three still alive?"
However, the three of them were so exhausted that they didn't even have the strength to respond, and they only moved their bodies slightly.
