Warhammer 40: Saviors Emerging from the Bottom
Chapter 25 Welcome to the Club
"Quickly, quickly, seize the enemy's armory as fast as you can," Robert urged his soldiers in a hoarse voice.
If he could capture the enemy's armory, this damn war might end sooner, and he could return to Upper Nest to reunite with his family.
Thinking of his experiences over the past few dozen days, Robert couldn't help but show a hint of sadness on his face. Many of his brothers who came with him to Xiachao to quell the rebellion had died here.
They did not die on the way to the enemy as they had expected, but were executed by their own people.
Everyone knows why Brigadier General Lancelot did this, and rationally speaking, there is nothing wrong with making such a decision, but when Robert thinks of his comrade's dying wails, he can't help but feel strange emotions.
"Damn traitor, this is finally almost over."
The sudden loud noise ahead pulled him back to reality. The first company on the first day was the fastest to rush forward, so there shouldn't be any other teams ahead.
Suddenly, Robert realized something. The reason they were able to break through the enemy's defenses so easily was thanks to a group of fearless warriors. Perhaps they were the ones fighting the rebels at the front.
"Hurry, hurry, run faster! The soldiers in front can't hold out much longer."
The group of dozens of people moved forward quickly, and soon they saw a strange Mechanicus Sage who was a head taller than Dominic Sage. He was currently using a hot melt gun to clear out the infected who were attacking like wild beasts.
Further away, seven monsters that appear to have completely lost their human characteristics are relentlessly attacking a strange human warrior.
The situation before him was so clear that Robert didn't need to think too much. He pointed at the plague carriers and the fearless puppets behind them and ordered, "Suppress fire! Buy the time for the Sage of the Mechanicus and that strange warrior to attack."
Upon receiving the order, the Imperial soldiers immediately sought cover and began firing, though they mostly used live ammunition.
These crudely made bullets turned into a pile of rust dust when they entered within about one meter of the infected person, rendering them completely ineffective.
These attacks did little harm to the plague carriers, but they successfully drew their attention.
The number five, the plague carrier, was engraved on the bronze bell. Looking at the humans who had suddenly appeared, a cruel smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.
"Helpless humans."
He reached up and patted his shoulder, then threw the maggots, covered in plague germs, out as if they were ranged weapons.
Because the two sides were far apart, Robert did not notice the Plague Carrier Number Five's subtle movements until the Imperial soldier who was hit was lying on the ground groaning in pain with large bumps on his body. Only then did he realize the seriousness of the situation.
"Incendiary bomb, he's infected."
After all, they were partners who had been together day and night, so everyone hesitated a bit before taking action. In that instant, the strange big bag on the back of the infected soldier suddenly exploded, and a swarm of flies flew out.
They hovered in the air for a while before starting to devour the nearest human.
Fortunately, in order to deal with the plague zombies, the team often carried several flamethrower soldiers. With their help, the swarms of flies and the infected Imperial soldiers were dealt with without serious harm.
However, after all this commotion, the company, which originally had more than ninety people, was reduced to just over sixty.
The strange abilities and appearance reminded Robert of the heroic deeds of the Emperor Angels he had heard in church when he was a child.
These stories often feature evil creatures that are difficult for humans to comprehend—demons. They possess various powerful and unbelievable abilities. Could these guys in front of us be…?
"It's impossible for an alien. He's seen those green creatures that love to yell; they can't do that."
For Xiao Yi, keeping the Imperial army, which was already gripped by fear, here was a problem. It would be fine if they all died here, but if they were accidentally turned into plague bombs, the trouble would be much greater.
We need to get them out of here as soon as possible, before things get to the worst point.
However, he was entangled with seven plague carriers and had no time to notify Robert's soldiers. Fortunately, there was Friedrich.
After analyzing the situation, the overloaded logic engine led him to the optimal conclusion that the Imperial soldiers should retreat.
"Captain, your presence here will only reduce our chances of winning. I now order you to leave immediately and seek heavy firepower support from Brigadier General Lancelot. Energy weapons are the best option; only they can inflict sufficient damage on the warp creatures before us."
Captain Robert, who was about to fight to the death for the Empire, breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the escape sign on Friedrich's screen. Who would want to die if they could live?
"We'll go get reinforcements right away. You guys hold on for now."
More than sixty imperial soldiers left the battlefield, which had no place to stand, at a speed two or three times faster than when they arrived.
"Finally gone." Just as Xiao Yi was refocusing his attention and preparing to continue the fight, the plague carrier who had been clinging to him consciously distanced himself. At this point, even a fool could see that something was wrong.
Sure enough, the ground beneath their feet suddenly softened and turned into a lump of foul-smelling flesh.
Dozens of tentacles covered in blisters kept waving and wrapping around Xiao Yi. There were too many to deal with at once, but fortunately he still had his spiritual energy.
A dozen or so finger-thick bolts of psionic lightning suddenly shot out from mid-air, repelling the tentacles that were trying to wrap around them.
But this was merely a deception deliberately created by the Plague Carrier to mislead him. After the tentacles appeared, Plague Carrier Number Seven, who had been waiting for an opportunity, stabbed Xiao Yi in the abdomen with the dagger bestowed upon him by his benevolent father.
With his vision blocked by the tentacles and his psychic perception filled with a foul green color, and with all his attention focused on the tentacles, Xiao Yi was caught off guard and fell victim to their attack.
The dagger, branded with the mark of a benevolent father, easily pierced through a body that even bullets couldn't harm. Seeing the smug expression on the face of the Plague-carrying Number Seven, Xiao Yi didn't hesitate and directly sliced off half of his head with a single sword strike.
"Welcome to our team." The Plague Carrier, number seven, who had lost half his head, still wore a smile.
As long as their souls remain intact, demons are invincible. If they are killed in the real world, they can simply return to the warp and wait to be resurrected.
Although he would lose some of his power, it was nothing compared to completing the task entrusted to him by his benevolent father. The Plague Carrier No. 7 was already fantasizing about what kind of reward he would receive.
A feeling of weakness instantly swept over his body, and Xiao Yi's legs went weak, causing him to kneel down with a thud. He could clearly feel something entering his body.
"Am I going to turn into a pile of shit like them? Ha, I might as well just self-destruct and blow these guys up."
Just as he was about to use his spiritual energy to self-destruct while he was still conscious, three orbs of light of different colors suddenly shot out from other parts of his body.
Blood-red, eerie blue, dazzling yellow, and nauseating excrement-green—these colors, using Xiao Yi's body as a battlefield, ignited a war over who has the right to settle here.
