Warhammer 40: Saviors Emerging from the Bottom
Chapter 85 I Saw Shrimp
Soon, the four arrived at their destination. Looking at the unremarkable circular platform in front of them, Xiao Yi couldn't help but sigh that true technology is always simple and unpretentious.
After a quick check of their weapons and the bombs in their backpacks, they took their positions in the center of the teleportation platform.
The most important thing for this demolition mission is "speed": plant the bomb before all the greens can react, and then leave quickly.
Fighting should be avoided if possible.
Once Astartes gets entangled with the Greenskins, even escaping becomes quite troublesome.
Karan and his group's combat strength is beyond doubt, but three Astartes are still too few. If they could gather seven more, Xiao Yi wouldn't need to personally go into battle.
After this matter is over, we must begin the selection and assessment for the Astartes as soon as possible. The governor of the empire cannot always be at the forefront of the battlefield.
Thinking of this, Xiao Yi sighed silently in his heart.
"Sigh, when will I be able to have a group of heroic units under my command that can stand alone?"
"They don't need to be as ridiculously strong as Sly Mabo; they just need to be able to be entrusted with dangerous missions in critical moments."
Although Charles and Redmond were battle-hardened veterans, they were still far inferior to those legendary figures.
Matthias and Oliver, one in charge of soldiers' mental health and the other in charge of frontline command, were simply not suited to do such dangerous work.
Aria is quite strong, but compared to Xiao Yi, her abilities are somewhat unstable.
Governing a planet from scratch is indeed difficult, especially when the vast majority of the previous ruling class has died out.
Take your time, there's plenty of time.
Xiao Yi raised his head and looked at the control panel not far away. The Mechanicus priest in charge of managing the teleportation system had already set up the teleportation beacon.
Energy flowed continuously into the transmission device through the thick pipes.
All the mechanical priests present knelt on one knee and prayed devoutly to the god of machines.
As the Om Messiah hymn resounded, the machine spirit began to slowly awaken.
The Machine Soul was not friendly towards these guys who suddenly woke it up; its muffled roar was the best proof of that.
The mechanical priest, who was usually responsible for maintaining the teleportation system, tried his best to calm the machine spirit's rage, but no matter how hard he tried, it was to no avail.
"How could this happen? It's usually so docile, but of all times it had to be like this!"
This was the first time Karan had encountered such a situation. He frowned and said, "If you can't continue teleporting, don't force it."
"I'll try again."
Just as the Mechanic priest was trying to repeat what he had just done, several green arcs of electricity shot out from Xiao Yi's body and entered the teleportation platform from a corner that no one was paying attention to.
The previously agitated machine spirit immediately quieted down.
"It's okay now."
The mechanical priest, who had been busy all day, wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and then continued with his previous work.
A white halo rose from around the teleportation platform, engulfing the four people standing in the center.
"Teleportation system is ready, coordinates confirmed, initiating."
With this series of commands, the light in front of Xiao Yi was forcibly distorted, and everything gradually turned into flowing, twisted bands of light.
As time went by, the entire field of vision turned white.
The disorientation caused by the teleportation made Xiao Yi feel uncomfortable; he could clearly feel something pulling at his body.
Fortunately, this feeling only lasted for a few seconds. When the white light in front of them dissipated, the dim steel corridor appeared in front of them.
Compared to Xiao Yi, who was teleporting for the first time, the three of them, including Kalan, were much calmer.
"Everything is normal around here. Demolition mission commences."
After briefly reporting his situation to the Mechanicus priest, Karan gripped his tactical dagger and cautiously headed towards the corner of the passage ahead.
The corridor was eerily quiet; normally, a race like orcs, who love excitement, would never be this quiet.
Just when Xiao Yi and his group thought they could successfully complete the mission, a Skull that almost filled half of the corridor rolled out from around the corner ahead.
The ravenous beast looked at the food that suddenly appeared in front of it, a hint of excitement flashing in its small, scarlet eyes. Its gaping maw, large enough to swallow an adult human male, began to drool frantically.
But before it could even kick up its short legs and start gnawing, Karan's power dagger was already stuck in its forehead.
Schug's hard skull was no match for the tearing force field, but the dagger was not long enough to kill him in one blow.
The intense pain in its head caused the giant Skull to struggle frantically, opening its massive jaws to try and bite the food that had hurt it.
The piercing roar was particularly clear in the narrow corridor, and if there were other green-skinned creatures around, they would arrive soon.
Karan drew his power dagger and punched Sguger, who was trying to lunge forward. The powerful impact sent Sguger rolling away like a ball.
Following closely behind, Xiao Yi raised his power sword and immediately caught up, splitting half of Sguger's face in two.
What would be fatal to a human is merely a serious injury to Squirrel, a fungus that, like the green-skinned creature, is a fungus. It wiggles its short legs, trying to get up.
"This guy's vitality is really strong."
"Ignore it, we're not here to kill greenskins."
Just as Xiao Yi was about to continue forward, the Greenskins' war cries came from afar.
"Who's that fearless brat who dared to bully the boss's pet?!"
The two sides were quite far apart, but Greenskin still spotted the group standing next to the giant Skull corpse at a glance. It rubbed its eyes in disbelief.
"I think I just saw a few shrimp standing there, no, only one shrimp, the other three were big guys among humans."
When it looked over again, Xiao Yi and the others had already disappeared, making Green Skin wonder if it had just hallucinated.
However, upon seeing the corpse of its beloved pet, its mind instantly cleared as if it had been electrified.
"It must be a shrimp that escaped. It couldn't be three big guys with a little shrimp."
"You bunch of lazybones, get on my heels! A fight's about to break out!"
Upon hearing this, the surrounding green-skinned animals immediately became agitated.
"Fighting? I love fighting the most!"
"Shrimp! Where are the shrimp? I'm going to beat those nasty shrimp to a pulp!"
"The shrimp ran off with the big guy, hurry and come with me to chase after him."
"Waaagh!"
The excitement quickly infected every green-skinned soldier, and before long, the entire transport ship was buzzing with excitement.
