The Wizard: Starting with Infinite Part-Time Jobs

Chapter 21 Rare Creature Clues, Suffering

"Child, of course it's not there." Ms. Ollie smiled and waved her hand, sitting back down in her chair. "However, I've narrowed down the range of rare creatures by 98%. Once I reach that level of precision, my project will be complete. As for how to find these rare creatures, where they might be, and whether they can be found at all, that's something that new high-ranking wizard apprentices will need to take over my research after I publish the project."

Ms. Ollie said with a smile on her face.

"At that time, I was probably already trying to become a full-fledged wizard."

"I'll tell you a secret, it's most likely an insect that can fly."

Ms. Ollie suddenly lowered her voice, leaned slightly closer to Aiden, and looked mysterious.

……

After leaving Ms. Ollie's laboratory, Aiden kept his head down, pondering Ms. Ollie's words, deep in thought.

"An insect," Aiden muttered to himself, beginning to mentally search through his encyclopedia of the continent.

The Encyclopedia of the Pan-Continent records approximately 8 species, of which about 4 can be classified as insects.

"There are thousands of flying insects." Aiden's mind was spinning after focusing on the thousands of insects, and he shook his head vigorously.

"The selected flying insects also need to be rare, that is, uncommon, in order to meet the criteria of rare organisms."

"But our circus hardly trains insects, so I don't have much information about how common or rare these insects are. I'll have to spend time researching that myself," Aiden muttered to himself, a look of helplessness on his face.

He stopped and finally sat down on the ground, supporting his head with his hands.

"Well, let's leave it to fate. Ms. Ollie has been researching this for over a decade."

"If he can find this rare creature, he'll definitely revise the research topic along the way. Since she can't find it, there's no need for me to put too much effort into it. Improving my own cultivation is the most important thing."

"I need more Meditation Stone Fragments. I need to go to the market area."

With that, Aiden stood up and walked down the aisle toward the stall area.

……

The market area remained the same as before, bustling with activity, and filled with formal wizard apprentices coming and going.

The goods sold were mostly the same terrifying materials used in mystical experiments. Some stalls displayed bloody animal entrails, emitting a pungent smell of blood, while others had strangely shaped bones covered with a sticky substance.

However, Aiden was much more used to it than when he first came. He wrinkled his nose, but didn't stop walking.

"So the environment changes people. I'm getting further and further away from being an ordinary human being," Aiden thought to himself, a slight twitch at the corner of his mouth, a half-smile on his lips.

"I don't need these materials for now, so I'd better try to find some meditation stone fragments. I estimate I'll need at least two," Aiden muttered to himself.

Aiden looked at each stall one by one, his eyes quickly scanning each one. He was somewhat disappointed to find that most of the stalls did not have the meditation stone fragments he needed.

However, as Aiden was almost at the end of the stall, his eyes suddenly lit up.

On one of the stalls were several fragments of meditation stones, which emitted a faint glow and stood out in the dimly lit stall.

"At least the trip wasn't a waste. These fragments are getting harder and harder to buy these days," Aiden thought to himself.

Just then, a familiar voice came from behind.

"Brother Aiden, you're here too."

Aiden turned around and was surprised to see Quillins, whom he hadn't seen in a long time, calling his name.

Quillins was wearing a faded old shirt, his hair was disheveled, and he looked tired.

His shoulders were slightly slumped, and his steps were somewhat unsteady, as if each step required all his strength.

"Quellins, you're off work too," Aiden said with a smile, patting Quillins on the shoulder.

Perhaps because they both came from humble backgrounds, Aiden and Quillins got along very easily.

Because he knew that the latter's thoughts were very simple, and he just wanted to survive in this forbidden forest basin.

Aiden looked at his thin appearance and couldn't help but sigh softly and shake his head.

"Yeah, I got all smelly today from taking care of Mr. Ironbeard's creatures. I just changed my clothes and came out," Quillins said, pursing his lips and raising his arm to smell himself, frowning.

"I see." Aiden nodded.

"Brother Aiden, I've collected enough magic stones to buy a Meditation Stone Fragment. I need to buy one." He said excitedly.

"Yes, I also need to buy meditation stone fragments. I've memorized my meditation technique to a very crucial point," Aiden said with a smile.

He only needs to consume two more Meditation Stone Fragments to break through the remaining memory blocks at the fastest speed.

"Quelinth, I remember your initial mental strength was quite good. This meditation stone fragment is just icing on the cake for you, after all, it's not exactly cheap," Aiden reminded him.

Keep in mind that Quilins earns far fewer magic stones than him, only two magic stones a month.

After expenses, there might not be much left. Aiden sighed again, thinking of how frugal Quillins usually was.

"I got it on credit from Mr. Ironbeard. I need to buy a fragment of the Meditation Stone for Sera." Quillins blushed slightly, his head lowered, avoiding Aiden's eyes.

"Sera?"

Aiden frowned; he remembered.

Sera was the girl who had previously abandoned Quillins in the tavern, selling her body and dignity to follow a formal wizard apprentice.

Aiden's expression turned serious: "Quelinth, if I remember correctly, you said before that you hated this Sera."

When Aiden and Quillins first met, Quillins told Aiden everything, including how he met Sera, how they fell in love, and how they came to the Forbidden Forest Basin together. He also swore that he was heartbroken.

Aiden never expected that, a few months later, Quillins would come back to his ex. Aiden would never have accepted that.

"Sera has been abandoned and is contemplating suicide. Consider this fragment of the meditation stone my last hope for her," Quilins said helplessly, his face flushed.

"Okay, that's your problem." Aiden regained his composure and didn't continue.

The world is full of wonders, and everyone's experiences and personality are different.

As long as Quillins can tolerate it, what can he say?

Aiden looked at Quillins's thin body again and felt a pang of pity.

"Don't worry, Brother Aiden. I know." Quillins smiled palely, forcing a smile that looked more like a grimace.

The two of them arrived at the stall that sold fragments of meditation stones.

This was a very thin-faced formal wizard apprentice, wearing a dark wizard's robe that gleamed with oil.

His triangular eyes darted around, watching Aiden and Quillins beside him, seemingly lost in thought. He looked like a fox lurking in the shadows, stalking its prey, and exuded an unsettling aura.

"This guy looks like a real shrewd businessman," Aiden thought to himself, shaking his head slightly.
