Chapter 3 Raiding Bird Nests
"Just eating all day without doing any work doesn't seem like a solution."
Shi Geng touched his stomach and frowned.
Now, relying solely on his physical strength, he can exert a force of eight thousand jin with a single wave of his hand. If he were to activate the power of the bone inscriptions, his explosive power would be even more astonishing.
His strength was no less than that of the village's burly men who hunted year-round. Feeling guilty for always eating and drinking for free, Shi Geng thought for a moment and decided to find an opportunity to go hunting in the mountains and earn his own living.
Just as Shi Geng was planning to go hunting in the mountains, a small figure crept over furtively.
It was little Shi Hao, with milk stains still clinging to his little mouth, his round eyes darting around.
"Little one, what brings you here?" Shi Geng raised an eyebrow, his gaze lingering on the milk still clinging to the corner of his mouth, and he couldn't help but laugh.
This kid is so big, yet he still sucks on the breast all the time, isn't he ashamed?
The little one's ears twitched, completely ignoring Shi Geng's teasing. He ran to Shi Geng's side with his short legs, his chubby little hands tugging at the hem of his clothes.
"Shigen, I heard you've gotten really strong lately!" He tilted his little face up, his big eyes sparkling with excitement. "Pihou and I are going to raid the Azure-Scaled Eagle's eggs. Do you want to come?"
As she spoke, she clenched her little fists, striking a pose like a little adult, with the milk stains on the corners of her mouth swaying gently.
Shi Geng's eyelids twitched upon hearing this.
Stealing the eggs of the Azure-scaled Eagle?
These little guys are indeed incredibly bold by nature; they are ferocious birds that even the village hunting team is unwilling to provoke!
"You're too bold, kid. Do you think the Azure-Scaled Eagle is easy to mess with? If it really runs into us, we'll all become its snacks." Shi Geng reached out and flicked Shi Hao's forehead, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
The little one covered his forehead, pouting defiantly, "What are you afraid of? We've been observing for days. That blue-scaled eagle just went out to forage; it'll only be gone for a short while and will be back soon!"
Seeing his eager expression, Shi Geng's heart stirred slightly. After a moment's thought, he immediately nodded: "Alright, I'll go with you. But listen to me, don't be reckless, and retreat immediately if there's any disturbance."
"Okay!"
Shi Hao immediately beamed with joy and grabbed his hand, running towards the village entrance.
Upon arriving at the village entrance, a dozen or so teenagers were already waiting there. The group tiptoed, avoiding the adults working in the village, and darted out of Stone Village in a flash.
As they ventured deeper into the dense mountains, the vegetation grew increasingly lush, and the faint roars of ferocious beasts could be heard.
The children were a little scared, but they still mustered their courage and rushed towards the direction of the Azure-scaled Eagle's nest that they remembered.
Shi Geng followed closely behind, keeping an eye on the surroundings while secretly circulating his bone-inscribed qi and blood, ready to unleash his immense strength of eight thousand jin at any moment.
Before long, a steep cliff appeared before them, with a huge bird's nest on the cliff face, which was the nest of the Green-scaled Eagle.
"The Azure-Scaled Eagle is indeed not here!" Pi Hou and the others whispered, both surprised and delighted.
The little one's eyes lit up, and he started to climb up: "Quick, before the eagle comes back, let's hurry and take the eggs!"
Shi Geng pulled him back, his brows furrowing slightly: "Don't rush, first confirm whether the Azure Scaled Eagle is really not there."
He focused his senses for a moment, then looked up at the sky to confirm that there was no sign of ferocious birds before nodding.
"Go up there, hurry up, grab it and leave."
The children's eyes lit up with excitement, and they quickly divided up the tasks. Some stayed at the bottom of the cliff to keep watch, vigilantly watching the sky in case the blue-scaled eagle suddenly returned, while the rest used their hands and feet to nimbly climb towards the eagle's nest on the cliff face.
Shi Geng walked at the back, seemingly nonchalant, but in reality, his energy was contained within, and his senses were stimulated to the extreme by martial arts, so that no slightest movement around him could escape his notice.
Soon, the group successfully climbed up the 300-meter-high cliff.
A colossal eagle's nest loomed before us, occupying almost half of the cliff top, surrounded by countless ferocious beast skeletons, a sight that sent chills down our spines.
The group exchanged glances, all secretly marveling at how astonishing the bird's nest was.
The next moment, unable to contain their excitement, they rushed into the nest.
"Look, there are several eggs!"
"Great! Let's move it quickly! We'll take it back to the village to hatch, and then we'll have powerful Azure Scaled Eagle mounts too. We won't have to worry about hunting anymore!" The monkey exclaimed excitedly in a low voice.
Shi Gen shook his head. These little guys were really audacious. If it weren't for the Willow God in Shi Village, their village would have suffered the same fate.
However, he didn't say anything. His gaze fell into the depths of the eagle's nest, where three crystal-clear bird eggs lay quietly. The eggshells were covered with strange patterns and spots, shimmering with a faint luster.
Each of the fierce bird eggs is the size of a water basin, emerald green like agate, translucent and lustrous. When sunlight shines on it, the patterns on the eggshell gleam even more, exuding an extraordinary spirituality.
Just as the children cheered and stepped forward, preparing to carefully pick up the eagle eggs, Shi Geng's expression suddenly changed.
The keen intuition derived from traditional Chinese martial arts and the cosmic connection of the bone inscriptions were triggered simultaneously, and an extremely dangerous aura rapidly approached from the horizon, accompanied by a gale and a fierce pressure.
"Oh no! Why did the Azure-Scaled Eagle return ahead of schedule?"
He gave a low shout, stepped forward abruptly, and grabbed the nearest little one, pulling him behind him.
Almost at the same instant, a deafening eagle's cry ripped through the sky, a gale arose, and the vegetation on the cliff edge collapsed wildly.
A massive azure figure descended like a dark cloud, its sharp eagle claws gleaming with a chilling light, pouncing straight at the eagle's nest!
The Azure-Scaled Eagle has returned!
Pi Hou and his companions were so frightened that they froze, their faces turned pale, and they stood rooted to the spot, unable to move.
"Run!"
Shi Geng let out a low roar, picked up the largest blue-scaled eagle egg with one hand, grabbed the little one by the back of the collar with the other, and turned to leap down the cliff.
With the immense force of eight thousand jin flowing through his legs, he leaped swiftly across the cliff face like a nimble ape, daring not to pause for even a moment.
Behind them, the furious cries of eagles and the howling of claws filled the air, and a life-or-death escape was about to begin.
The rubble tumbled down the cliff face, and the enraged eagle's sharp talons almost grazed Shi Gen's back, the strong wind making his clothes flutter loudly.
"Damn it, how did that Azure-Scaled Eagle get back so quickly?"
Shi Geng gritted his teeth, holding the eagle egg and carrying the little one, and relied on the lightness techniques of traditional Chinese martial arts and the blood and qi energies driven by the bone script to leap rapidly across the steep cliff.
With each step he took, small pieces of rock crumbled down, and he carved out a path for himself on the more than 300-meter cliff.
"Jump!"
As he approached the ground, he exerted a sudden burst of strength, leaping down with the little one in tow. He spun in the air to dissipate the force and landed steadily.
The monkeys were so frightened they nearly jumped out of their skin. They scrambled down the cliff face, their legs trembling. Before leaving, they made sure to pack up the remaining bird eggs and take them with them.
"Walk!"
Shi Geng gave a low shout, and the group dared not turn around, running wildly into the depths of the dense forest like madmen.
The Azure-Scaled Eagle circled and roared in the sky, its huge wings whipping up a gale that snapped ancient trees in pieces. It swooped down several times, its sharp claws and talons nearly striking the heads of the group.
But Shi Geng always stayed behind the group, sometimes dodging to the side, sometimes throwing out huge rocks, making it difficult for the Azure Scaled Eagle to get close.
The little one clung to his back, his face showing no fear whatsoever; instead, his eyes shone brightly: "Shi Heng, you're amazing!"
Shi Geng gave him an annoyed look: "Will you dare to steal bird eggs again next time?"
The little one chuckled and decisively shook his head: "I wouldn't dare!"
Shi Geng shook his head, knowing full well that with the little one's audacious nature, changing him was simply impossible.
However, now is clearly not the time to worry about this. The angry cry of the Azure-Scaled Eagle overhead is getting closer and closer, circling overhead and refusing to leave. He has been protecting his companion, which is really restrictive and he can't act freely at all.
