Lying in bed, Xu Bo looked at the time on his phone, calculating how long it would take for Yang Xun to return, when his phone rang again.

"This little girl is so clingy now."

The caller was Luo Qiaoqiao, who believed she should be leaving Northeast China soon.

She should be at a tutoring class today to improve her grades, so this phone call must have been made secretly from her landline when she got home.

"We need to buy her a mobile phone, otherwise it won't be convenient for her to use."

Xu Bo didn't answer the first call, but let it ring. He got dressed and went to the door to greet his parents.

"Mom and Dad, I'm going downstairs to help Yang look for his things, otherwise he won't be able to find them tomorrow."

Go ahead, be careful.

After going downstairs, Xu Bo first found a pavilion to sit in.

He checked the call log and called Luo Qiaoqiao back.

The call was answered quickly, within seconds of dialing; the person must have been waiting by the phone.

"I just fell asleep; the signal is still bad here."

Xu Bo pretended to be half asleep and said in a daze.

"Nothing much, I was just worried about you. Where are you?"

Luo Qiaoqiao's voice was very soft, and Xu Bo couldn't understand what she was saying at all unless he listened carefully.

"We've just passed Shanhaiguan Pass, and haven't even reached Tianjin yet."

Xu Bo estimated the time and said, "The signal here is really bad. Should we wait until we arrive at the station and I'll call you back when the train stops?"

After a moment of silence, someone spoke softly.

"I guess we can't call now. Oh well, you should continue to rest. I'll call you back the day after tomorrow when you arrive."

The girl's tone was full of reluctance, yet also helplessness.

After hanging up the phone, Xu Bo reconsidered whether or not to buy Luo Qiaoqiao a PHS phone.

If I buy it, this little girl will probably pester me every day, making it inconvenient for me to do anything.

If I don't buy anything, I sometimes get bored, and I don't even have anyone to keep me entertained.

After thinking it over for a long time, Xu Bo decided not to buy Luo Qiaoqiao a mobile phone.

After all, she was in Harbin, which was a long way from Hangzhou. Without communication tools, it would be quite difficult for her to find him.

Xu Bo isn't worried about this romantic storyline breaking down, since the foundation is there.

Looking up at his balcony, Xu Bo was a little afraid that his parents might be watching him from there. After finding no one around, he took out another phone and made a call.

"Hey, you're still awake?"

On the other end of the phone was He Yimei. Tomorrow, the two of them, along with her father He Jun, would board a train to Hangzhou.

"No, I just wanted to remind you to make sure you brought everything, and not to forget any documents."

Xu Bo carefully reminded him over the phone.

He Yimei had already eaten dinner. During the day, she went to the cemetery with her father to sweep her mother's grave and poured out her longing for her over the years.

She brought some dumplings, which He Yimei made herself, to tell her mother, who was far away, not to worry about her.

She hasn't quite shaken off the emotions from the day before and is still feeling down.

"I've prepared everything, including food. Have you bought it yet?"

He Yimei bought a lot of bread, instant noodles, and sausages.

When He Jun was shopping at the supermarket, he told He Yimei not to buy so much food, as it was all unhealthy.

Anyway, there's a food truck, so even if it's a bit pricey, it's not like Dad can't afford it.

He Yimei resolutely refused her father's offer and insisted on buying so much fast food.

"I haven't bought it yet, I'll just grab it when I pass by the supermarket tomorrow."

Xu Bo said nonchalantly that he prefers to travel light, and that as long as he has enough to eat, that's fine. Besides, there are boxed meals and trolleys on the train.

It's okay to spend a little money when going out.

"Then don't buy any more. I bought too much, so we can share some later."

He Yimei's face flushed red, and her voice sounded slightly unnatural.

Xu Bo grinned and said, "Okay, then I'll eat your food for the next two days and one night."

After the two chatted for a while, He Jun's voice came through.

"Who is it? Aren't you asleep yet? You have to catch the train tomorrow morning."

He Yimei stuck out her tongue, then whispered "Goodnight" before hanging up the phone.

Upon hearing the words "Goodnight," Xu Bo felt a surge of excitement coursing through his veins, rushing straight to the top of his head.

What does it mean when a girl says goodnight to you?

It means that you have at least a place in her heart, or even a very important one.

Especially for girls like He Yimei, who are usually very aloof, it's incredibly difficult for others to even exchange a few words with her, let alone say goodnight before bed.

......

He Jun gently knocked on the girl's door.

"I just heard you on the phone, who were you talking to?"

He Jun's mind is filled with Xu Bo's image, and he's even considering whether to ask his friends in Hangzhou to help look after his daughter.

He was a little afraid that his precious girl would be taken advantage of by that brat Xu Bo.

"Cong Keyao, she bought a new puppy and showed it off to me. Dad, why don't we get a puppy too?"

Pushing open the door, He Yimei said to her father at the door, "Otherwise, I'll leave. I'm afraid you'll be all alone at home with nothing to do."

Holding his forehead, He Jun remained silent.

"I'm already very busy with work. If I bring home a dog, will I even be able to go to work?"

He Jun took leave from work this time, and he finished his work well in advance.

I haven't had a proper rest for several nights in a row, spending the whole night at my desk working on cases.

"Go to sleep early, I'll wake you up tomorrow morning."

Hearing that the girl was on the phone with Cong Keyao, He Jun felt relieved.

He was terrified that it was that brat Xu Bo calling.

I've been busy with work these past few days and haven't had time to keep an eye on the girl. I wonder if she's been in contact with that brat Xu Bo.

"Okay, I'm going to sleep now. You should go to sleep early too."

After closing the door and returning to bed, He Yimei touched her chest. Through the towering Mount Everest, she could feel her heart pounding wildly.

From childhood to adulthood, except when standing in front of her mother's grave, He Yimei would say that she was doing well, so as not to worry her mother on the other side.

This was the first time she had ever lied, and she never expected it would be because of Xu Bo.

"Xu Bo... Goodnight."

After charging her phone, He Yimei lay on the bed and spoke softly to the dark room.

......

Meanwhile, Xu Bo hung up the phone and went to the East Gate, where he found Yang Xun still squatting on the ground.

He and Liu Mei leaned against each other, with only one dumpling left in the lunchbox.

By evening, Yang Xun was already quite full; he had forced himself to finish those dumplings.

"Aren't you going upstairs? Liu Mei, come up and sit for a while."

Xu Bo came up behind the two and said softly.

"I'm not going up. I'll go back after I finish eating." The ground wasn't very clean, and Liu Mei's skirt already had some dust on it.

Seeing his buddy come down, Yang Xun knew he was there to urge him on, so he quickly ate the last dumpling.

Yang Xun patted his backside and stood up.

"I'm leaving now, don't worry about me too much. I'll be back during the Chinese New Year. If you miss me, just let me know."

"It's okay, I'm just worried it might disturb your school."

The two snuggled together and became affectionate.

"It's okay, I'm always here for you whenever you need me."

Before leaving, Yang Xun solemnly swore an oath to Liu Mei.
