You are a cat demon

Chapter 30 Cherry Blossom Village

"Wow! Whose cat is this?! How can it be so shameless?!"

Zhang Qingshan's neighbor, a middle-aged woman wearing a floral overcoat, grabbed the back of your neck with one hand and lifted you up with force.

After feeling your body leave the ground, you don't struggle. Instead, you curl up your limbs, tuck your tail between your hind legs, half-close your eyes, and have a comfortable expression that looks like you're about to fall asleep.

The middle-aged woman was furious at your nonchalant attitude, but since you didn't deserve to die, she forcefully threw you aside, barely managing to restrain herself from kicking you halfway, and shouted, "Get out!"

The story begins about half an hour ago...

You went to your neighbor's house specifically to find that white female dog, your big black dog's mate. You weren't just thinking of stealing your dog's wife; you're not that bored, nor do you have such a perverted hobby. You just wanted to confirm one thing.

No sooner had the neighbor in the floral coat left than you darted through the crack in the door and found a white mother dog nursing a litter of puppies in a beautifully decorated little wooden house.

The white mother dog heard the noise, glanced up at you, and immediately recognized you as the guy who always hung out with her big black dog, and who had become familiar with your scent over time. Although lactating mothers are generally quite irritable, this one was unusually docile, as gentle as a lamb. Even if you walked right up to her and stared at her pups, she didn't bark or growl at you, but instead lay back down and closed her eyes for a nap.

These puppies are all from the same black dog breed, seven in total, all with black and white fur; not one is solid-colored. The first two to catch your eye are two particularly striking little creatures. Their bodies are snow-white, but their heads are jet black, making them look like ruthless burglars. It's a bit comical; if no one points it out, they might think they're a white dog for life.

The puppies are not even a month old, their bodies are shorter than one of your front legs, and they can't walk yet. They can only crawl on the ground, looking like maggots, except maggots aren't this cute.

This looks completely different from you; it's not exactly the same, but rather completely unrelated.

It seems that's not the reason.

Just as you were about to leave, your attention was once again drawn to the puppy suckling at its mother's breast.

You see two puppies eating and suddenly they start fighting. They face each other, their pink little paws pawing at each other, but they are so weak that to an outsider it looks like they are just playing a game of tag.

This scene would be undeniably adorable to humans, but to you, it's undeniably tempting. Compared to motionless, lifeless corpses, living creatures are far more likely to ignite your primal hunting instincts. Even if a cat demon could ignore a whole warehouse full of meat, it would never remain indifferent to a small animal wandering nearby. This urge to kill young lives is something deeply ingrained in every cell of a cat demon's being for millennia. Unfortunately, it already has an owner…

But just looking at them is enough to satisfy my craving. Look at these two, they're not even a month old yet, but they're already so chubby and round, like little piglets. You can tell at a glance that they're getting plenty of nutrition and their food must be really good.

This neighbor usually treated their white female dog well, providing her with meat at every meal. The big black dog was a dutiful husband and father; fearing the family might mistreat his wife, he would bring her extra food from his own home every day. He always gave the white female dog the best food first. One time, due to the village chief Zhang Qingshan's negligence, the big black dog's bowl was empty. He had to go to the river to catch fish, and after catching any, he would tirelessly carry them back one by one to feed the white female dog…

Because the mother white dog was pampered with plenty of meat and fish every day, she ate well and naturally produced a lot of milk. The puppies had plenty to eat and grew stronger and stronger.

Thinking about this, your appetite suddenly diminishes, and your chest feels filled with frustration.

Comparing yourself to others will only make you miserable.

Think back to when I was a child, fighting with my brothers and sisters for milk. I could never eat to my heart's content. Either my domineering older brother would push me aside, or my mother's milk was not enough. Sometimes, when my mother couldn't catch any prey, we would go hungry all day. My fifth brother, who died young, had almost starved to death more than once before he died.

Your upbringing is far worse than that of these puppies born with silver spoons in their mouths. Unlike them, who are born into a safe haven, pampered and cared for by a group of people, you face countless calamities from birth. Your life's countdown begins immediately. Apart from your mother, you receive no help or protection. In the eyes of all the great demons, you are nothing but a piece of trash, cheap food and supplements for them to improve their cultivation. Even if you disappear from this world one day, no one will care...

Seriously, why should I?

You must have had a brain fart to do something like snatching milk, which made the neighbor who suddenly returned exclaim, "How shameless!"

Upon seeing this, the middle-aged woman in the floral overcoat quickly came over, her large feet stomping loudly on the floor.

She lifted you up with a look of disdain, and the moment your face left the mother white dog's embrace, the sudden blast of cold air jolted you back to your senses. But you felt no shame whatsoever. As the saying goes, shamelessness is invincible, and so is shamelessness in cats. In fact, because the feeling of being choked by the scruff of your neck was so similar to your mother carrying you in her mouth, you remained nonchalant, which she saw as rather provocative.

And so, the scene at the beginning unfolded.

Let them get lost! Who cares about these stupid dogs? Let them stuff themselves to death, or better yet, let them choke to death on a mouthful of milk!

You cast a vicious curse and escaped from this house, only to unexpectedly run into a big black dog carrying a meat bone as it was about to enter.

You and it stared at each other for more than a minute.

Finally, you glared at it fiercely, stopped bothering it, and ran away on your own. The big black dog was frightened by your gaze and stood there, blinking its eyes in confusion in the direction you left, probably wondering why you didn't scold it today.

You're seething with anger, but have nowhere to vent it.

Of course, you know this isn't anyone's fault, nor is it any dog's. Your fate as a cat demon has nothing to do with them. How you live is none of their business, and how they live is none of your business. You'll never despise being a cat demon. In terms of identity and bloodline, you feel far more noble than these stupid dogs. They, on the other hand, are destined to be driven by humans their entire lives, ordered around without any autonomy. If they disobey or hurt someone, they'll be mercilessly slaughtered and turned into dog meat hotpot.

Hey, thinking about it this way makes me feel a little better.

Take a deep breath.

"Little Black!"

Listen, Ruoye is calling you. This little girl is running towards you with a bouquet of freshly picked lilies.

Despite the many unpleasant things that may happen, the best thing you've ever done in your life was probably coming to Sakura Village and finding a good family.

The cat demon originally had no name.

But you don't mind having another title.

I can call you whatever I want, it's just a name.
