One-Punch Man: Boros, the Universe Overlord

Chapter 10: The System Gave Me a Powerful Breakthrough

At this moment, on the Hero Association's giant display screen, the once calm map was once again covered by glaring red markers. The red light in the city center was the most conspicuous, next to which was marked the despairing disaster level prediction—**"Dragon Level"**, and it was even flashing the words "Crisis Level Rising".

"Quickly! Evacuate the crowd! Evacuate all residents in the area bordering City A and City B!"

"S-Class Heroes! Where are the S-Class Heroes?!"

"It's too late! That strange man is moving towards the city center. At this speed, half the city will be in ruins in ten minutes!"

The high-ranking officer in charge, drenched in sweat, shouted hoarsely into the communicator:

"President Sitch, we just contacted the heroes near the disaster site. Mr. King and Mr. Boros are near the monster!" Alice's sweet voice rang out, like heavenly music, instantly silencing the noisy and chaotic command room.

"Great, this crisis should be resolved soon."

"With the two of them here, there's nothing to worry about. Now we just need to prepare the loss report."

Sitch looked at the command center, which was gradually returning to order, and his tense shoulders relaxed: "King and Boros? Just hearing their names makes me feel incredibly reassured."

the other side

"Fantastic! Fantastic! My brother, I never expected it to be so effective!" A short, bespectacled researcher stood on the giant's shoulders, gesturing wildly and shouting excitedly.

"Yes, beyond imagination, brother, this is the strongest power I've ever wanted."

"Hohohoho, if we combine our two strongest intellects and our strongest strength, we can conquer the whole world! Hohohoho!"

"Sorry, although I really wanted you brothers to say a few more lines, the damage you caused was just too great. You should hurry up and go to hell to repent. Collapse Star Roaring Cannon - Low Power."

With a deafening sonic boom, Boros vanished from his spot in an instant, traversing hundreds of meters to appear before the giant like a ghost. As he spoke, a blazing, dazzling energy beam condensed in his left palm, its brilliance even surpassing the midday sun.

"You bastard... what nonsense are you spouting! Do you know what kind of power this is? Little brother, give it to me... Aaaaaah!!"

Before the giant's massive body could react, and before the mad scientist on his shoulder could finish shouting the order, Boros thrust his left hand out suddenly.

boom--!

The scorching beam of light instantly engulfed everything. The terrifying heat vaporized the giant's upper body along with the researcher on its shoulder, leaving only half a scream before it was completely evaporated from the world.

"Ding, absorbable dimensional energy detected, dimensional energy value +60."

"Ding! Energy reserves overflow! Host's dimensional energy value has reached 156, and the conditions for breaking through the limiter have been met. Please proceed with the level breakthrough as soon as possible to unlock the system's advanced functions."

"Tch, not even as much as the vaccine recipients. As expected, these giants created by drugs are just pretty faces with no substance." Boros curled his lip, but couldn't hide the excitement in his eyes.

However… I've finally met the threshold for a breakthrough. I need to find a secluded place; it wouldn't be good if the breakthrough caused some kind of cataclysmic event and everyone knew about it.”

The aftershocks of the battle hadn't yet dissipated; the energy fluctuations from the giant monster's dissipation still lingered in the smoke. Boros casually brushed the dust off his dark gold armor, pulled out his satellite phone, and called Alice at the association to report the situation:

"Hey, Alice, the giant monster in Sector R has been dealt with, but the scene is a bit chaotic. Could you send someone over to handle it?"

After hanging up the phone, he turned around to call King to go home and continue playing games, but when his eyes swept over the ruins, he was surprised to find King standing next to that familiar bald man.

Although reason repeatedly told him that Saitama wouldn't hit someone without reason, Boros still instinctively felt a chill run down his spine when facing this bald demon king who could kill him with a single punch. He gave an awkward, dry laugh and stiffly raised his hand to wave:

"Hi... Hello, Saitama, what a coincidence, we meet again."

Saitama tilted his head, a hint of confusion on his face. "That's quite a coincidence. Huh? How did you know my name? Never mind, it's not important. You look really strong. Can't you really fight me? I haven't felt the thrill of battle in ages."

"Who would be so bored as to want to fight you, you bald demon king? Damn it," Boros thought to himself.

But this time, when Saitama invited him to fight again, his body betrayed his will.

A long-dormant heat erupted from the depths of his cells, surging down his veins. His long-dormant fighting spirit began to beat uncontrollably, as if responding to a call from the very depths of his blood. The blood of a once-dominant force that had swept across the universe was burning wildly, roaring with excitement—

It was an instinctive yearning for the strong, the primal thirst of this body sealed by the limiter for a thrilling battle. Even facing death, even being shattered to pieces, all he wanted at this moment was... to fight a good fight!

"Hey, hey, hey, stop messing with me. Nothing happened last time, so what's going on?"

Boros was filled with inner turmoil; this feeling was strange. Reason told him that he couldn't, and he had to stop this terrible behavior.

However, every cell in my body was roaring wildly, and every nerve was excitedly shouting, "Fight! Fight to the death! We'll die without regrets!"

"Hey, hey, hey, seriously, don't joke around, people will die," Boros muttered to himself, pressing his agitated heart.

This wasn't a desire for battle; it was a physiological urgency akin to drug withdrawal. His muscle fibers trembled, not from fear, but from the long-suppressed power desperately seeking an outlet. The fear of being "alive yet like a walking corpse" was even more intense than the death threat he faced with Saitama.

He took a deep breath, and the focus in his single eye refocused, locking onto the seemingly harmless bald man before him:

"My body is telling me that if I don't fight you, I'll die, completely die. There will be no more rush of blood, no more of that exhilarating feeling of a racing heart. This time, it wants me to agree to your request."

"Fine, so be it!"

Boros abruptly raised his head, and a sliver of his rationality forced a stiff smile onto his face as he added, "Saitama, I'm a good person."

"Let's go, let's find a desert where no one is around. This place isn't suitable for fighting. Can you keep up with me?" After Boros finished speaking, he soared into the sky and flew away into the distance.

That was the Gobi Desert on the edge of City B, stretching for hundreds of miles with sand and rocks everywhere, utterly deserted. This vast land seemed forever shrouded in silence and desolation, the sunlight shining on the sand reflecting a dazzling yet monotonous light.

There are no trees, no water sources, only wind-blown sand and rocks constantly altering the terrain. In this desolate place, every sound is exceptionally clear, as if the entire world consists only of the whispers of the wind and stones. Here, one can unleash their power without fear of harming the innocent.

The two landed one after the other on the desert sand.

Saitama, eager to try, asked, "Shall we start right away?"

"Call me 'Dou Ma Die'!"

Boros waved his hand dismissively, his face saying, "I know you're in a hurry, but don't rush."

He took a deep breath, focused his mind, and tapped hard on the empty system panel.

"Add more points! I want to break my limiter!"

He suddenly roared to the sky, spreading his arms wide.

however……

It was quiet all around.

There was neither the expected roar of surging energy, nor any unusual phenomenon of the sky and earth changing color, nor even a decent breeze.

Only a few crows passing overhead seemed startled by the sudden, strange cry, cawing and circling overhead.

"ha?"

Boros stood frozen in place, his lips twitching slightly.

"What's going on?" Boros looked at the number of times the system's limiter had been broken, which clearly showed 1. His dimensional energy value had also changed to 56. He stretched his legs in disbelief, feeling that his strength had not changed at all, and was somewhat confused.

"What the hell is this, system? What's going on?"

He examined the system closely and noticed that a "+" had appeared after every attribute point.

[Strength: S+]

Agility: S+

[Physical Fitness: S]+

[Spirit: S+]+

I tried clicking it, and the attribute [Strength: S+] immediately changed.

[Strength: SS]

[Agility: S++]+

[Physical Fitness: S]+

[Spirit: S+]+

The dimensional energy value has also increased to 6 points. Clicking Agility again triggers a system notification.

"Your dimensional energy is insufficient to perform this operation."

The system has detected that the host has exceeded the limit once. The system is currently upgrading. Please continue to operate after 24 hours.

"Is this some kind of rip-off? What kind of garbage system is this? I broke through the limiter, and I'm not even going to be able to dominate the world, but at least raise my four dimensions a bit! So I have to keep using energy points to add to them? This is outrageous, insane secondary consumption!"

"I'm going to file a complaint against you with the Consumer Association!" Boros shouted in grief and anger.

Saitama: "???"

Boros's chest heaved violently. After taking a few deep breaths, he finally suppressed the urge to smash that damn system. He clenched his fist tightly, his knuckles making a crisp "crack" sound.

As his [Strength] attribute increased, an unprecedented surge of power instantly coursed through his limbs and bones. The solid feeling of his muscle fibers being strengthened finally calmed his restless heart somewhat.

He slowly raised his head, and the suppressed fighting spirit in his single eye blazed fiercely once more, as hot as molten lava. With a thought, a crisp metallic scraping sound rang out, and the dark gold armor that had been tightly wrapped around his body but now seemed somewhat cumbersome vanished instantly, revealing the well-defined, explosively powerful muscle contours beneath, poised to strike.

"Come on, Saitama!" Boros roared in a deep, husky voice, his tone heavy with pressure. "Let's begin!"

"Drink up—! Overlord bursts forth, clothes and pants fly away!"

With a deafening roar that seemed to tear eardrums apart, Boros's body underwent an astonishing transformation. His original azure skin rapidly turned into a deep, dark black at a visible speed, and countless dazzling white arcs of electricity, like wildly dancing serpents, raged and exploded across his body.

In the next instant, Boros's figure blurred, leaving only a deep, crater in his wake. He transformed into a black storm of lightning, carrying an aura of destruction, and with a resolute, world-destroying force, crashed into Saitama at a speed beyond visual perception. A rain of fists, a tapestry of afterimages, filled the sky; each punch delivered a sonic boom, containing the terrifying power to shatter mountains, split rocks, and even pulverize stars.

Faced with this overwhelming and ferocious offensive, Saitama remained expressionless, his dead fish eyes nonchalant. He slid backward unhurriedly, his movements agile, using only one hand. His seemingly ordinary fist operated with the precision of a finely tuned mechanical gear, deflecting every single one of Boros's rock-crushing blows with incredible speed.

In an instant, the two clashed hundreds of times, the air compressed and emitting painful groans. Then, Boros roared, his body transforming into a blazing meteor from a supernova explosion, colliding head-on with Saitama's seemingly casually thrown fist.

"Bang!"

The dull thuds of each punch landing on flesh merged into a deafening explosion. A terrifying shockwave erupted from the two men, the tangible air currents sweeping outwards and instantly flattening the sand within a hundred meters radius. Even the once cloudless sky above succumbed to this force beyond the laws of physics, tearing open a gaping, terrifying crack, as if the sky itself had been pierced through by the attack.

The sky has cracked open again...
