One-Punch Man: Boros, the Universe Overlord
Chapter 20: Unexpectedly
The ruins reeked of dust and scorched earth. Boros felt the violent energy within him subside and let out a satisfied sigh. "Phew—that felt good. Damn it, didn't your mom teach you not to give people nicknames?"
"Hey, Pineapple Head, are you done venting? Shouldn't you go back?" Saitama, standing next to him, calmly patted the dust off his sleeves, his stomach rumbling at the opportune moment, and urged, "If we don't go back soon, King's dinner will get cold."
"You bastard!" Boros roared in fury. "You want to take a hit from my Cataclysmic Roaring Cannon too?"
"Huh? Don't be so irritable." Saitama looked Boros up and down with an innocent expression, his tone carrying a hint of sincere doubt.
"I'm serious, that rhinoceros beetle wasn't that strong, but the 'pineapple head' description is really fitting... Hey, hey, hey, don't let your hands glow! I'm just telling the truth!"
看着琦玉的欠揍表情,波罗斯掌心凝聚的白色能量球闪烁了几下,最终还是无奈的散去。
Sometimes I really want to kill someone to silence them, but I hold back for the sake of friendship. It's definitely not because I can't beat them, absolutely not...
Helpless, Boros turned and walked towards Dr. Genus, who was slumped on the ground: "How is it, Doctor? Were you shocked by the power just now? Would you like to consider cooperating with me? I need your experimental technology to help me break through the shackles of this body and achieve true ultimate evolution."
Genus looked up, his eyes still unfocused behind his glasses. He stared at the man before him, then glanced at Saitama, who stood calmly beside him, and muttered to himself, "...What need is there for a monster like you to evolve?"
"Don't be so downcast, Dr. Genus," Boros said with a smile, patting him on the shoulder.
"Your wisdom is a unique treasure on this planet. Although I am strong, there are indeed threats in this vast universe that are older and more powerful than me. To cope with future crises, I must become stronger. How about this, as a token of my sincerity, I can give you my blood sample, and even the cell sample from that bald guy next to me, I can get it for you. What do you say? This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, let's cooperate, right? You won't let your life's perseverance be crushed like this, will you?"
Upon hearing the words "blood sample," Genos's previously dull eyes instantly blazed with fanatical light. Like a drowning man grasping at a straw, he abruptly stood up, his fighting spirit as strong as that of a mad scientist rekindled.
"Yes, yes! With your blood samples as research material, I'm sure I can crack the genetic lock, break the limiters, and develop the evolutionary key to unlock a new human era!"
"Haha, I'm not interested in Newtypes or anything like that," Boros waved his hand, his expression becoming more serious.
"But one thing is certain: your experiments must never jeopardize the order of this society. Although the base here is destroyed, with your abilities, rebuilding a more advanced one will be a piece of cake. Let Mosquito Girl and the gorilla stay and continue to protect you. If there are any out-of-control test subjects in the future, or if you need my cooperation in testing, please contact me anytime, okay?"
"Okay, I agree!" Dr. Genus clenched his fist, his eyes gleaming with a thirst for the unknown power.
"In return, I will prioritize developing an evolution potion that is highly compatible with your bloodline."
"Haha, sure, Doctor. Don't hesitate to contact me if you need anything in the future." Boros, in high spirits, turned and forcefully patted Saitama, who had been muttering under his breath, "I don't want my blood to be studied by evil scientists..." and said loudly, "Let's go, bald guy, stop dawdling, let's go home for dinner!"
"Please wait for me, teachers."
Just as Boros and Saitama turned to leave, an urgent voice came from not far away. Genos, his body charred black and emitting wisps of black smoke, shakily stood up and, dragging his almost falling mechanical body, stumbled towards the two. His previously dim electronic eyes gleamed with sincere light.
With a muffled thud, Genos, ignoring the protests of his body parts, bowed deeply:
"Saitama-sensei, I sincerely apologize for my previous rudeness and disrespect! I humbly request that you both accept me as your disciple! I... I have a reason why I must become stronger."
What the heck? There are already two teachers? Genos, how can you say such opportunistic things with such a straight face? Your change of expression is even faster than my teleportation… Boros thought to himself.
"Ah, I have no interest in taking on any disciples or anything like that. Don't bother me while I'm going back to eat, or I'll beat you up!" Saitama raised his fist, a little impatient.
Boros strongly suspects that Saitama is retaliating against Genos for ignoring him and treating him like a nobody along the way.
"Teachers, would you like to hear my story?" Genos's expression turned sorrowful as he tried to recount a sad past to evoke Saitama's empathy.
"Die Doha!" Boros shouted abruptly, knowing that if Genos continued, it would go on and on. He quickly pulled Saitama in front of him, pointed at him, and said to Genos:
"See this face? Don't you feel like this face is full of stories?"
Genos hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
"So, we don't want to hear any stories at all. Just looking at this face is enough to tell us everything, understand? We live on 203rd Street in M City. Go back and fix up your body parts first. If you still want to become our apprentice in a few days, come find us, okay?"
"Yes, teachers. I'll head back today and visit you again tomorrow with a gift for your apprenticeship." Genos nodded solemnly.
Boros finally stopped Genos from telling his story, grabbed Saitama, and they made a quick getaway.
On the way, Saitama asked, "Hey, Pineapple Head, what did you mean when you said my face was full of stories?"
"Hehe, I mean you're being complimented."
"I don't feel like that's what you meant."
"Then tell me what I mean?"
"I asked you what you meant because I didn't understand what you meant."

........................
A few days later, in King's living room.
"Damn it, hey, where did the alien go?"
"That guy is still inside the spaceship."
"Something terrible has happened! Someone called your mother back home and is claiming to be your fiancée!"
"What? The alien was killed?"
"I also received a text message saying that the troublemaker has been eliminated and I'm looking forward to our date tomorrow."
"Damn it, that guy is more dangerous than an alien."
At that moment, Boros, who was playing the game, was completely stunned by these explosive lines, almost throwing his controller away. He turned his head in disbelief, looked at Saitama who was watching with great interest, and couldn't help but say:
"Hey, bald guy, what kind of horror movie are you watching? What kind of taste do you have? The plot is such a mess!"
"Ah, it's Alien vs. the Peeping Tom," Saitama said, slowly standing up, walking to the refrigerator, opening the cabinet door, skillfully taking out a bottle of ice-cold cola, and with a "hiss" sound, pulling the tab and taking a big gulp.
He glanced at the television screen and casually asked, "By the way, Boros, have you been feeling some kind of gaze lately? You know, that kind of creepy, sticky gaze that's lurking in the shadows."
"Hmm." Boros, who was engrossed in battling the game boss, didn't even look up. He just glanced thoughtfully out the window and casually responded.
Saitama sat cross-legged on the sofa, his expression suddenly turning serious, and said in a heavy tone:
"Over the past few years, I have defeated countless evil forces, so it's normal for people to harbor resentment towards me. But it's one thing to hate me, but if that hatred ferments and twists in the dark corners and eventually turns into a morbid love, then I'll be in real trouble."
"Don't worry, absolutely not." Boros finally finished a round, turned around and looked at Saitama with the eyes one would give an alien, his lips twitching as he said:
"I'm amazed that you can imagine such a scene. I simply can't imagine that in reality there would be such a pervert as to love out of hatred and treat you as love."
While the two were talking, the atmosphere was unusually heavy inside a makeshift tent several hundred meters away. Genos was intently watching the King family's every move through a crack in the window, holding a state-of-the-art telescope, afraid of missing any detail.
He muttered to himself, his voice low and urgent: "The investigation into the teachers' powerful secrets has been going on for three days now, and so far, there are still no clues and no progress."
As he spoke, a small black notebook appeared in his hand, which he quickly jotted down scattered observations and speculations, the pen scratching softly on the paper. After finishing, he took a deep breath, regulated his breathing, and raised the binoculars again to look into the distance.
"Are the teachers deliberately keeping a low profile to prevent others from discovering the secret? This can't go on forever; they should find some clues by now."
"We're out of ingredients at home. Which of you two will go out and buy some?" King, who works part-time as a nanny, said to the two of them as she prepared to cook.
"Go, Pineapple Head!" "Go, Bald Head!" The two voices rang out almost simultaneously.
As soon as he finished speaking, Saitama and Boros turned their heads sharply to look at each other. The moment their eyes met, it was as if an invisible electric current was crackling in the air, and sparks flew between their eyes.
"I, Boros, am making this clear: even if I die today, even if I jump off this cliff, I won't take a single step out of this door," Boros said resolutely.
"Okay, then we'll all go hungry today," Saitama rolled his eyes and gave an OK sign.
"You two come with me!" King, who had been holding back his anger, finally exploded, letting out a roar that had been building up for a long time.
.…………………………
"My name is Boros. I never expected that I would still have to leave my cozy little home and be forced to team up with this bald guy next to me. With a heavy heart, I came to the vegetable market."
