One-Punch Man: Boros, the Universe Overlord

Chapter 26: Remaining Calm Even When Mount Tai Collapses Before Him

"Teachers, have you received the notification? The Z City branch has issued an emergency notice, requiring S-class heroes to assemble immediately!"

Genos, who had been busy in the kitchen, hung up his communicator, strode out, and asked the people in the living room with a serious expression.

In the living room, Boros was lounging on the sofa. Hearing the noise, he merely raised his eyelids slightly and nodded: "Ah~ Received."

Genos continued, "Professor Boros, Mr. King, shall we go over there?"

"Go ahead." Boros stood up lazily. "After all, I haven't been to many of these gatherings, and this is your first emergency mission since you were promoted to S-rank. It wouldn't make sense if you didn't go. King, what about you? Want to stretch your legs together?"

King thought for a moment, and feeling less uneasy with Boros and Genos around, he nodded and said:

"Okay, it's been a while since I've attended an emergency meeting. I'll go with you guys this time."

"OK, let's go!" Boros snapped his fingers and then smiled at Saitama.

"Saitama, you should just stay home and watch the house."

Genos turned to Saitama, who remained in the living room, and said in a respectful and polite tone:

"Saitama-sensei, the association has issued an emergency summons, requiring all S-class heroes to immediately assemble at headquarters. We're leaving now. Is there anything you need to bring back?"

At this moment, Saitama, who was alone and embarrassed because everyone else in the room except himself had received the notification, said sourly upon hearing this:

"Ah, ah, I know, I know you're all S-class heroes, okay? Now get out of here. Maybe the association just wanted to fire you guys this time, hehehe."

Boros glanced at the sarcastic Saitama with his one eye and joked:

"How dare you, a mere C-rank rookie, slander three esteemed S-rank adults like this! If you dare to spout nonsense again, we will immediately notify the association to expel you."

"Pineapple Head, are you looking for a beating?!" Saitama angrily rushed forward to fight Boros.

"Alright, alright, stop fooling around, let's go together, let's go together!" King, who was standing next to him, quickly intercepted Saitama and grabbed Saitama's waving arm.

"Who wants to go with you guys!" Saitama said, his face clearly showing "I don't want to," looking like he'd rather die than give in, but his body betrayed him as King pulled him out of the room.

As soon as the group stepped into the Z City branch of the association, a gust of cold wind swept through the empty hall, carrying a few withered leaves. Looking around, the office area, which should have been heavily guarded, now appeared unusually desolate, with desks and chairs overturned and documents scattered all over the floor; it was completely deserted.

The entire branch was deathly silent. At the far end of the hall, a sprightly old man with silver hair stood calmly with his hands behind his back in front of the floor-to-ceiling window. His upright figure was out of place in this desolate environment. His piercing gaze was fixed on the group of people who pushed open the door and entered.

"Oh? So many people have come?" The old man narrowed his eyes slightly, his gaze lingering on King for a moment before sweeping over Boros's imposing figure and finally landing on Genos.

"King, Boros, and Genos, they actually came together?"

"Hey, old man, what about me! Hero Saitama!" The bald man, who had been ignored, immediately bristled and shouted in dissatisfaction.

Upon hearing this, the old man showed an apologetic expression and said, "I'm sorry, young man, I didn't know you were also a hero, and I really didn't recognize your name, so I didn't greet you earlier."

He straightened up slightly and continued, "My name is Bang, nice to meet you."

The third S-class hero, codenamed "Silver Fang," is a master of the Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist.

"Bang!" Genos looked around at the chaotic scene, his brow furrowed. "The association summoned us here, but there's no one here?"

"That's right," Bang sighed, pointing to the desolate training ground outside the window with a solemn expression.

"After the association headquarters issued the emergency call-up order, most of the staff and non-combat personnel have already evacuated back to headquarters. As for the S-class heroes who responded to the call..." He paused, his gaze sweeping across the faces of the group.

"Besides you few, only this old man like me is still here waiting."

"What exactly happened?" Genos pressed.

Bang turned around, his hands still behind his back, his voice low and serious: "A disaster that could destroy this city is about to strike. According to the latest observation data, a giant meteorite is hurtling towards Z City at high speed, and the impact area is expected to cover the entire urban area. Everything here will be completely destroyed, without exception."

"A meteorite?" Genos was slightly surprised.

"Yes," Bang shook his head helplessly, a hint of confusion now showing in his wise eyes.

"This kind of natural disaster-level threat is beyond the scope of ordinary heroes to deal with. Although I have some martial arts skills, I am helpless against such a behemoth that falls from the sky. So..." He suddenly changed the subject and looked at the group of young powerhouses in front of him.

"Do you have any ideas?"

"Old man, since you knew there was no way out, why didn't you just run away with everyone else?" Saitama asked blankly.

Upon hearing this, Bangu straightened his back, and an aura of grandmaster's authority arose spontaneously:

"My ancestral Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist Dojo is right here. I won't abandon the dojo and run away alone! Besides..." He glanced at Saitama.

"Don't call me that. I'm your senior. Call me Mr. Bang!"

Saitama, who was being scolded, rolled his eyes and was about to retort when Genos interrupted him. "Saitama-sensei, Boros-sensei, King-sensei, do you have any solutions to this disaster?" Genos asked them anxiously.

"Impulsive and hasty, what kind of behavior is this! Where have you learned the 'immovable as a mountain, swift as thunder' principle that I taught you? Remaining calm even when Mount Tai collapses before you, that is the demeanor of a true strongman, have you forgotten it all?" Boros crossed his arms, his expression cold and dignified.

"Huh? 'Even Mount Tai collapses before you'? Has Professor Boros ever said something like that before?" Genos was stunned for a moment, looking at the teacher in front of him who exuded a powerful aura and was completely unfamiliar with him.

"I feel like Professor Boros is acting a little differently than usual..."

Genos muttered to himself, but his hand still instinctively pulled out his small notebook and quickly jotted down the words.

Boros glanced at Genos, who was writing furiously, and said calmly, "Don't panic. Once the meteorite enters the atmosphere, try your best to stop it. Don't feel pressured."

"Yes, teacher, I understand," Genos nodded solemnly.

Haha, what a confident young man! That drive makes one eager to see what he does next.

Bang stroked his graying beard, a hint of admiration flashing in his eyes. He slowly began to walk, his feet barely touching the ground, his figure nimbly leaping towards the rooftop, as if to witness an impending miracle. He nudged King's arm and asked softly.

"King, has Pineapple Head always been this pretentious outside?" Saitama couldn't help but ask in a low voice when he saw Boros's completely changed demeanor.

"He's always been like this outside, and you're only finding out now?" King answered softly.

"Hmph," Boros glanced at the two who were muttering to themselves, snorted coldly, and flew to the top of the building with Genos.

"Hehe, what a confident young man. It makes one look forward to seeing him." A hint of admiration flashed in Bang's eyes. He slowly took a step, his feet barely touching the ground, and his figure lightly swept towards the rooftop.

As they reached the rooftop, a biting wind immediately swept over them. Looking up, the once clear sky was now shrouded in a massive shadow. The colossal meteorite, wreathed in destructive heat and fire, gradually magnified in their eyes, becoming clearly visible to the naked eye.

"Get ready to make your move, Genos."

"Yes, teacher!" Genos's eyes were burning. "I didn't expect to actually use this experimental subject so soon!" Before he finished speaking, he suddenly pulled out a briefcase from behind him, flicked his wrist, and hurled the briefcase into the air. With a loud "bang," the briefcase exploded in mid-air, and countless intricate metal parts began to shatter into pieces.

Immediately afterwards, Genos leaped into the air and completed a high-difficulty spin. Accompanied by a dazzling series of mechanical meshing sounds, the scattered parts seemed to be drawn by an invisible magnetic field, precisely adsorbing, splicing, and locking together, instantly completing an armed evolution amidst the roar.

In the blink of an eye, a streamlined heavy mechanical arm armor covered his arms, its surface shimmering with a cold metallic luster, and the nozzles faintly radiating scorching energy fluctuations.

"The most deadly kind of show-off is the one who can do it invisibly." Whether this transformation was powerful or not is unknown, but it certainly impressed everyone.

"Damn, this kid is a natural at showing off, and most importantly, he does it so naturally, so smoothly, without any stiffness. He's handsome too, and his moves are so flashy. He might even surpass me in popularity," Boros thought to himself.

Just as Genos's incineration cannons were fully charged with dazzling energy and ready to launch an attack, a sharp blue streak of light suddenly streaked across the sky without warning.

"Hmm? Someone else is here?"

A blue streak of light landed steadily not far away, revealing a metallic robot with a cold, gleaming luster. It was round and heavy, with a round head topped with three scarlet motion-sensor lights.

"So many people have gathered here? Are you here to stop the meteorite?" A cold, mechanical voice emanated from its body.

Genos was the first to respond, suggesting, "Yes, you're Bofoi, right? How about we team up and try to stop the meteor?"

"Please call me Metal Knight," the other party coldly corrected, the three red dots above their head suddenly shrinking as they spoke indifferently.

"I refuse to cooperate with you. My trip was solely for testing the combat performance of a new weapon, and this unexpected meteorite arrived at just the right time."

"Why? If a meteorite falls, you'll die too."

"I won't die, now..." Metal Knight was interrupted by Boros before he could finish speaking.

"Enough, Genos. Since they have clearly refused to cooperate, stop asking those pointless questions."

Boros slowly turned around, his dark gold cloak billowing in the heat, a cold, indifferent glint in his single eye, and said in a chilling tone:

"Remember, in everything, you can only trust yourself. If you had wasted time on this nonsense, you probably would have already succeeded."
