One-Punch Man: Boros, the Universe Overlord

Chapter 68: Complete Hero Compendium

"Who? What was that? What was that thing that flashed by in a flash? My eyes are going to be blinded!"

An A-rank hero suddenly turned his head, his voice filled with astonishment, his eyes frantically searching the air for that fleeting afterimage.

"Just now... just a moment ago, did someone really walk past us? Am I hallucinating?" Another hero stared wide-eyed at the freakish pieces of flesh falling everywhere, muttering to himself in disbelief.

"No, I heard it too..." Death Gatling put away his weapon and said with a solemn expression.

"I think I vaguely heard someone say 'Excuse me'? I thought there was something wrong with my hearing."

The heroes stood there dumbfounded for a long time before exchanging bewildered glances and beginning to discuss the matter. Each of them wore a look of confusion and shock.

"This...this speed?...Who on earth is this person? Damn it, whoever you are...why did you have to show up now, and then let me pass just when I was about to make my move? It makes me look like a complete idiot..."

Flashy Flash remained awkwardly in a sword-drawing stance, watching the heroes around him excitedly discussing the afterimage he had just witnessed. He, who should have been the protagonist of the battlefield, now felt like a forgotten background figure, not even a supporting character. He felt as if a million alpacas were stampeding through his chest…

………………

In the super fighting arena, the lights are focused, and the match between Boros and Bakuzan has officially begun. In the commentary booth, the host, as always, delivers a double standard, showering Boros with praise while mocking Bakuzan.

In the stands, the atmosphere remained high, with tens of thousands of spectators waving flags and cheering for Boros as always, their cheers sweeping across the entire stadium like a tsunami.

Faced with this overwhelming momentum, Baoshan remained unmoved. He slowly raised his eyelids, a disdainful sneer appearing on his lips.

"Heh," he snorted coldly, his voice hoarse yet extremely penetrating.

"You don't naively think I'll be like that weakling before, scared off by this pressure and run away, do you?"

Baoshan clenched his fists tightly, his knuckles cracking, and his eyes flashed with a bloodthirsty glint.

"Listen up!" he shouted sternly, his whole body radiating murderous intent.

"The martial arts here aren't some mindless hero game; they're real, life-or-death battles! If you think having a lot of fans and being popular guarantees you the championship, you're sorely mistaken!"

"Today, I'm going to let you experience the terror of my 'Dark Hell Killing Fist Technique.' I'll crush every bone in your body and make you kneel and weep in agony before those foolish fans!"

As expected of a god of the highest level, 108th rank, Boros is far superior in terms of arrogance.

"Anyone who dared to talk to me like that before is probably over three meters old by now! This arena has saved you! Enough talk, unleash your full power!"

Boros crossed his arms, too lazy to waste his breath on this idiot.

"I'll kill you!"

Seeing Boros's nonchalant attitude, Bakuzan was furious. His killing intent exploded on the stage in an instant. His figure disappeared from the spot in a flash. Accompanied by the cracking sound of joints, his right leg kicked down fiercely with a whooshing force, aiming directly at Boros's right knee joint.

Boros remained expressionless. In order to observe more martial arts techniques, he deliberately suppressed his power, precisely adjusting his physical functions to the same level as Bakuzan.

Without dodging or avoiding, he used his left hand to block Baoshan's powerful shinbone with precision, like a snake emerging from its hole. He then used his flowing energy to deflect the force with a light twist of his wrist. Immediately afterward, a rebounding force surged back along the opponent's leg bone, forcefully pushing Baoshan's massive body away.

Baoshan felt as if he had kicked steel in his right leg, and the pain was excruciating. He was so shocked that he slid back several steps.

"Impressive, it's well-deserved!"

He was, after all, a martial arts master. Instantly, he abandoned his arrogant contempt and exerted force with his feet. His figure began to move like a ghost across the arena, circling around Boros and unleashing all the Dark Hell Killing Techniques he had learned in his life.

Whether it's a cunning finger strike aimed at the throat, a vicious palm strike aimed at the neck, or a sharp leg sweep aimed at the joints, every move contains a deadly intent.

Until Baoshan's offensive subsided like a storm, the dust on the arena had not yet settled, and he was already panting heavily, his chest heaving violently.

A storm began to rage within him, and he was secretly horrified:

"This guy... his martial arts have probably reached the Grandmaster level! He moves with effortless ease, his attacks are flawless. Even if my strength is equal to his, I simply can't break through his fist techniques. I need to think of another way!"

As Bakuzan was pondering how to break through his opponent's defense, Boros's cold voice suddenly rang in his ears.

"I've finished watching. The moves were ruthless, and they did have some merit, but the game should end now."

Boros remained calm, and before he finished speaking, he vanished from his spot. The next instant, Baoshan only saw a blur before Boros closed in on him, thrusting out a palm and unleashing a devastating force that struck Baoshan squarely in the chest. Before he could even scream, he was sent flying backward, crashing heavily to the ground below the arena and instantly losing consciousness.

Seeing that Baoshan had already been sent flying out of the ring and could not get up again, the host's enthusiastic voice once again resounded throughout the venue through the loudspeaker.

"The outcome is decided! Just as expected!"

"After allowing Bakuzan to fully showcase his abilities, Boros decisively knocked his opponent unconscious with a single blow! This was not only absolute domination, but also a display of respect and sportsmanship, while simultaneously demonstrating the overwhelming and despairing gap in skill! Let us once again congratulate the victor, Boros!"

On the other side, in an abandoned warehouse in the suburbs, sunlight streamed through the cracked glass windows, dappling the concrete floor piled with discarded tires and rusted iron frames. A faint smell of rust and dust filled the air.

On the worn-out mattress in the corner, the hungry wolf slowly exhaled a breath of stale air, his bones emitting a series of fine popping sounds. He stretched languidly, feeling the renewed power surging through his muscles, a satisfied smile appearing on his face:

"Phew, I'm finally fully recovered. It's been so long since I felt this full of energy..."

He withdrew his hand, turned his head, and his gaze fell on the little boy beside him who was curled up in the tattered sofa, sporting a messy watermelon-shaped haircut. A glistening snot hung from the tip of the little boy's nose, but he was engrossed in reading a book.

"Hey, kid." The wolf's tone carried a rare hint of gentleness.

"Thank you for the food these past few days."

Hearing the sound, the snot bubble looked up blankly, its snot bubble trembling slightly with its breath, and it gave a silly, good-natured smile, saying, "It's okay, uncle."

The hungry wolf curled its lip in annoyance, squatted down, poked the slug's round forehead with its finger, and emphasized:

"Hey kid, how many times have I told you? I'm only eighteen! Eighteen! How do I look like an old man?"

The snotty-nosed boy was poked and leaned back, but he didn't seem to care. Instead, he hugged the book in his arms even tighter. He sniffed, snot wafting in the air, but a smug look shone in his eyes.

"Hehe, but you look fierce and mature, uncle."

"Being fierce is a sign of fighting power, you know...?" Garou rolled his eyes, but his gaze was drawn to the cover of the book. The words "Hero Encyclopedia" were faintly visible on the cover. Curious, he leaned closer and asked:

"What on earth are you looking at? You're always holding that thing, so engrossed in it."

"You just don't understand!"

As if it had heard something incredible, the slug immediately straightened its back, held the book up to the hungry wolf, pointed to the densely packed names and portraits, and said with a smug look:

"This is the 'Complete Hero Encyclopedia'! It contains detailed information on all registered heroes of the Hero Association, from S-rank to C-rank. It clearly lists who has their signature moves and who has their achievements!"

"All hero information?"

Hungry Wolf's pupils contracted slightly, and Boros, who was like an abyss and whose depths he could not fathom, flashed through his mind in an instant, as well as the bald man who had casually knocked him away and almost killed him!

Thinking of this, his previously lazy expression vanished, replaced by a serious look. He softened his tone and spoke in a consultative manner:

"Hey kid, can I borrow this book?"

"Hey, I can only lend it to you for a little while, uncle. You have to give it back to me when you're done. It's my treasure."

Snotty complained, his face full of reluctance, but he still carefully wiped the corner of the book with his sleeve, reluctantly handed it over, and finally held up a finger to emphasize:

"Don't wrinkle it!"

"Okay, okay! Stop nagging."

Hungry Wolf gave a perfunctory reply, but his eyes were already glued to the pages of the book. He snatched the hero encyclopedia, eagerly flipping through it, quickly weaving through the dense text and illustrations, searching for detailed information on Boros and Baldy.

He flipped through the pages, his fingertips tracing the paper rapidly, finally finding the page about those two people. As his gaze swept over the words, a wave of disappointment washed over him. He looked up, asking the snotty-nosed boy in bewilderment:

"Hey! Kid, didn't you say this book contained detailed information on all the heroes? What kind of nonsense is this Boros writing? It's all irrelevant stuff! Where are their moves, their core techniques? Where are their stats? Not a single word!"

"And this bald guy, who's ranked B-class, how could he possibly be ranked B-class? His information is so perfunctory, just one line: 'Assisted several S-class heroes in resisting the meteorite disaster in Z-city,' and that's it? What kind of nonsense is this?..."
