One-Punch Man: Boros, the Universe Overlord

Chapter 8: Boros is here, everyone get out of the way!

Doodle.

The call was answered quickly: "Hello, Mr. Boros, how can I help you?"

"Hey? Sitch, what's going on with your association? It's been days and there's still nothing..." Boros's words stopped abruptly, as if he had discovered something, and he hurriedly hung up the phone.

"Damn, I've gotten so used to being with King that my tone of voice is starting to sound like a comedic character!"

He quickly took a deep breath, cleared his throat, and dialed Sitch's number again, saying in a cold tone:

"Hey? Sitch? I'm Boros. If there are any Wolf-level or Tiger-level monsters in the future, contact me even if they're not nearby. Hmph, this planet of yours is so boring, it gives me no thrill in battle."

"Ah, I'm so sorry, Mr. Boros. Since you've just arrived on Earth, I thought you'd be busy for a while."

"Yes, okay. In the future, whenever a strange person appears in any of the cities near you, I will arrange for a dedicated operator to contact you immediately."

"Okay, Mr. Boros, have a nice day." Sitch hung up the phone, wiped the cold sweat from his brow, and wondered how this alien could have a dual personality.

On the other side, King looked at Boros with some surprise, who wasn't playing games today, and asked, "Boros, you're not playing games today? That's perfect, do you want to come out with me to buy some groceries?"

"I had enough food at home to last me a while, but you eat so much that we're almost out of food."

"Hmm, it's good to go out for some fresh air." Boros thought for a moment. It seemed like he had been staying at King's house ever since he came to this world. Going out for a stroll now and then seemed like a good idea, so he agreed.

"But Boros, you're a celebrity now, so we need to cover up when we go out. Going out like this will cause trouble. Everything else is fine, we can just wear the same hoods as me to cover it up, but what about your one eye?"

King looked at Boros with distress. Boros's single eye was too distinctive to be concealed by a hood.

Boros was also a little confused. The two men looked at each other with their three eyes locked.

"I've got it! I'll just wear a mask!" Boros's eyes lit up.

"Wearing a mask is possible, but most masks on the market are made to resemble our two eye sockets. Would you be able to see where you're going if you wore a mask?"

"Hmph, foolish mortal. This overlord of the universe doesn't just see the road with his eyes. Do you know about mental perception? Never mind, you probably wouldn't understand even if I told you. Anyway, just make me a mask."

"Tch, if you're so capable, go order it online yourself. Do you even know where to order it? Do you even have a shopping account? What's wrong? The so-called cosmic overlord is so powerless?"

"King, you're shameless! Isn't that a line I, the person who got vaccinated, said? You actually plagiarized my lines?"

"Hehe, it's not about stealing words, it's about using them."

Ding-a-ling, ding-a-ling.

Just as Boros and King were exchanging heated words, Boros's phone suddenly rang.

Boros's eyes lit up, thinking, "Finally, some work!" He forgot all about arguing with King and quickly cleared his throat, answered the phone, and resumed his indifferent tone: "Hey? This is Boros."

A sweet, unfamiliar voice came from the other end of the phone: "Hello, Mr. Boros, this is Alice, your designated contact person at the Association headquarters. A Tiger-level threat monster has appeared in R City, which is near you. Are you available to go there now?"

"Sure, send me the monster's exact location," Boros replied coldly, his tone exuding an undeniable air of dominance.

"Okay, Mr. Boros, we will send you the location of the monster shortly. Thank you very much for your contribution to the association."

After hanging up the phone, Boros turned to King and said, "King, wait for me a moment. A Tiger-level monster has appeared in R City. I'll be right back."

Although King didn't know how strong Boros was, he understood that a mere Tiger-level monster wouldn't pose much of a threat to Boros, so he nodded to indicate that he understood.

Boros, fully prepared, reactivated his hidden Dark Gold Demon-Sealing Armor. The armor rapidly materialized on his body, radiating a cold metallic sheen. With a flash, he leaped from the window, transforming into a golden bolt of lightning that tore through the air and vanished into the horizon.

In R City, a pitch-black, mantis-like monster is wreaking havoc. It wields its sharp forelimbs, easily slicing through roadside vehicles while screaming and destroying everything in its path.

"Fear it, wail it! Nature has given us such a wonderful living environment, and you ungrateful bastards have wantonly destroyed it. This is nature's punishment!"

"wack!"

"It's a weirdo! Run!"

The moment the strange man appeared, the crowd scattered in terror, screaming and creating utter chaos.

"Hehehe..." The mantis monster wasn't in a hurry to kill. It seemed to enjoy the fear it brought to the crowd, its eyes flashing with cruel light.

"Attention! Attention! Emergency notification from the Hero Association: A monster tentatively classified as a Tiger-level threat has appeared on the International Trade Street in R City. The Association is urgently dispatching nearby heroes. All residents in the vicinity are requested to evacuate to the shelter immediately."

"Please pay attention, please pay attention..."

The city of R was broadcasting emergency evacuation notices on a loop, with piercing sirens mingling with screams from the people.

Meanwhile, in the sky above R City, Boros hovered among the clouds, already halfway there. This distance was nothing more than a blink of an eye for him. However, seeing that the monster hadn't yet begun slaughtering humans, he didn't rush down. Instead, he hovered in mid-air, beginning to ponder.

What troubled Boros was not the strength of this so-called mantis monster. Let alone a mere Tiger-level monster, even Demon-level or Dragon-level monsters would be nothing more than slightly larger ants in Boros's eyes.

"This is my first official appearance in this world! My presence has to be impressive, my posture has to be cool, and it has to be awe-inspiring. How should I make my entrance?"

Boros stroked his chin, lost in thought. "Is it about descending from the sky at supersonic speed, shattering the ground, creating a massive explosion, and then crashing down through the smoke like a Terminator, stunning everyone?"

"Or should we gradually increase our momentum, mobilize the surrounding energy, and slowly descend with an oppressive aura, making the monster feel despair?"

"Got it, that's it." Boros's eyes lit up, and he muttered to himself before disappearing into the air in a flash.

The mantis monster on the ground was indulging in the pleasure of creating panic, cackling and slicing all the buildings and obstacles in its path into pieces.

"Are all so-called eccentrics like you?"

A cold voice abruptly cut into the noisy street; the sound wasn't loud, but it seemed to explode directly in the depths of everyone's soul.

At the same time, a suffocating, heart-pounding pressure descended from nowhere. It was not just weight, but an absolute condescension from a higher life form to a lower one, like an invisible giant hand gripping the throat of the entire street.

The once bright and sunny sky over R City was instantly covered by churning, inky clouds, the light dimmed abruptly, and the gloom seemed like the end of the world. The temperature dropped sharply, and even the pebbles and shards of glass on the streets began to tremble slightly.

This soul-chilling sense of oppression caused the mantis monster, which was indulging in destructive pleasure and brandishing its sharp forelimbs, to suddenly freeze. The savagery in its compound eyes was instantly replaced by terror, and its proud senses were now issuing a frantic red alert.

A fear stemming from an ancient creature's instinct drove it to stop all movement, even forgetting to breathe, and it turned its grotesque head uneasily and stiffly toward the direction from which the sound came.

From the swirling dust at the end of the street, a tall figure slowly approached. Each step was steady and powerful, as if treading on the rhythm of everyone's heartbeats.

Boros wore a hideous dark gold armor that reflected a chilling luster in the dim light. His shoulder spikes stood tall like mountains, and the scarlet cloak behind him fluttered in the wind.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

As he walked, the sky seemed to resonate. With each step, a blinding bolt of lightning would erupt from the thick clouds, illuminating the dim street in a ghastly white light. Dark clouds gathered and swirled wildly around him, as if the entire atmosphere trembled in fear of his arrival.

The howling wind subsided the moment Boros stopped in front of the Mantis, and the raging lightning, which had reached its climax, came to an abrupt halt, like a still image on a canvas.

The world seemed to be paused at that moment. Only an invisible sense of oppression, so strong it almost crushed people, and the sky above, which had been forcibly torn apart, silently indicated that the strange celestial phenomenon just now was not a hallucination.

"Strange, strange person..."

"We're doomed, we're dead. Someone even more ruthless is coming from over there."

"Great, great! We're saved! He's a hero, a hero of our association! He's the newly promoted fifth-ranked A-level hero!"

"I, I, I remember now. That's right, he's the association's new hero. I've seen him in the videos on the official website. The aloof alien warrior, the Azure Heaven Fist, Boros."

"What?!"

"I was so scared my heart almost stopped! Was it really our hero? I thought some big boss had appeared, I was terrified!"

Someone in the crowd recognized Boros, and the quiet atmosphere gradually became noisy as people started discussing him. Although the oppressive feeling just now was really strong and suffocating, they felt instantly safe after learning that he was one of their heroes.

The Mantis Monster, sweating profusely, looked down at the sole of Boros's boots, feeling an invisible pressure binding him tightly, and roared inwardly.

"I can't move, I can't move at all! Damn it, with my speed, as long as I can escape, there's still hope for survival. Hurry, get moving!"

"Don't you even have the courage to look me in the eye? You're just a nobody who's wasting my time."

"Nature...nature..." the mantis-like monster managed to squeeze out a few words through clenched teeth. Its carapace creaked painfully under Boros's oppressive aura, as if it might shatter at any moment. "You...you're also an enemy of nature? Humans are destroying the environment...I...I'm going to punish them..."
