Greece: I am the master of destiny!
Chapter 52 Lord of the Underworld
Oceanus, the ocean god, had a rather interesting expression as he looked at the River Styx blocking his path.
He recognized it, of course; the river was His daughter, Styx, incarnate.
But some unknown substance was added to this river, and even the mighty gods were unable to cross it!
Even when Styx himself appeared, he could only show a helpless expression.
"The living must not enter the River Styx. This is a rule set by the Lord of the Underworld, and it is also a rule recognized by this world. As long as you are in this world, no one can violate it, not even me."
Upon hearing Styx's explanation, the gods were immediately thrown into an uproar.
"Who is the ruler of the underworld? Prometheus?"
Crios, the god of the heavens, spoke first, his expression extremely grim: "He not only created a world himself, but also became its ruler?"
"It seems so," Coeus, the god of wisdom and foresight, said coolly. "At first I thought Cronus had misjudged things, but it turns out it's really true."
Upon hearing this, Cronus's lips twitched.
He is still too weak. After all, He was not chosen by the world to be the God-King. He has not yet obtained all the power of creation. It will take at least several hundred or even a thousand years before He can become powerful.
His current strength is still somewhat insufficient, which means that no one takes him, the god-king, seriously. Koos even addresses him by his given name without any respect.
But having endured for so many years, Cronus wouldn't reveal his dissatisfaction at this moment; he merely feigned concern and said:
"My brothers, although this prophetic god has long been dissatisfied with me, I am, after all, the god-king you have recognized. If Prometheus disregards me so much, doesn't that mean he disregards you as well?"
Upon hearing Cronus's words, the expressions of the Titans instantly changed.
Even the usually composed Oceanus couldn't help but say, "Prometheus's actions have indeed gone too far."
The other Titans echoed their sentiments, and the crowd was instantly agitated.
Cronus, who could easily stir up the emotions of the gods with just a few words, suppressed his pleasure, showing no sign on his face, but couldn't help but sigh inwardly:
"Prometheus, you've delivered yourself to my door this time."
Cronus had even made up his mind to seize this opportunity to completely eliminate this prophetic god whom he feared so much.
After all, as long as this guy isn't eliminated, Cronus won't be able to have peace of mind.
"Your Majesty the God-King! Your Majesty the God-King!"
Just as the gods were discussing and Cronus was making plans, a sudden voice rang out.
The gods instinctively looked over and saw a colossal figure supporting the sky at the far end of the horizon, shouting in their direction.
Naturally, it is Atlas, the god who holds up the sky.
"Atlas, what are you doing here?!" Iapetus asked in shock as he looked at his eldest son.
When Atlas was punished by Uranus, the twelve Titans were sealed underground and unaware of this.
Atlas's fate had been altered, and the gods subconsciously overlooked the existence of such a god until they saw him at this moment and were suddenly shocked.
"It's all because of that damned Prometheus!"
Atlas roared, "He deceived Uranus and imprisoned me here! Only a new king of the gods can release me!"
The gods immediately turned to look at Cronus, who unusually showed a serious expression.
He was actually quite emotional, because he had finally become the king of gods, but no one recognized him. The first person to respectfully call him "Your Majesty the King of Gods" was actually Atlas, that brainless fool.
Cronus neither liked nor disliked Atlas, but since the other party fawned over him so much, he didn't mind showing some of his divine authority.
He instinctively wanted to release Atlas, since it was just a matter of a word for Him anyway.
But before He could speak, two figures appeared on the River Styx.
One in white and one in black are Prometheus, the god of prophecy, and Hecate, his attendant and weaver of fate.
Upon seeing their arrival, the gods immediately looked over, and Cronus temporarily ignored Atlas, who was still shouting, and became alert.
"Prometheus, why did you create a world here? Do you even respect the gods?" Hyperion, the sun god, spoke first, his expression somewhat displeased.
"Naturally, it is the will of fate," Hecate said calmly, answering for Prometheus.
Hyperion was momentarily speechless. He thought of the black-clad goddess's "achievements" and her divine role of destiny, and for a moment he did not know how to answer.
Seeing that Hyperion was all show and no substance, defeated by a single word from the god, Cronus sighed inwardly with some helplessness and stepped forward to speak:
"God of Prophecy, you must have sensed the will of the world. To create a new world is such an offense; it is something the world will not allow. Shouldn't you give us an explanation?"
With clear logic and meticulous reasoning, Cronus was indeed far superior to Hyperion, which finally gave Prometheus the interest to reply.
But He didn't give Cronus the explanation he wanted; instead, He smiled and said, "I was just trying to protect myself."
"What kind of self-preservation?" Oceanus asked. "What kind of self-preservation requires creating a world?"
Prometheus, as if asked about something painful, shook his head and said sadly:
"Uranus, the Lord of the Heavens and once a king of the gods, cursed me before he died."
Upon hearing this, the gods were immediately surprised, their eyes widening in astonishment. Only Cronus clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles turned white.
"That curse is extremely vicious, and it is a curse that comes at the cost of His burning everything. There is no way to break it, so I resorted to this desperate measure to find a place to hide."
As Prometheus spoke, he glanced at Cronus, seemingly intentionally or unintentionally, and said meaningfully, "That curse is truly wicked."
At this moment, Cronus's heart sank to the bottom. He finally understood where the curse on him came from. It was actually the curse that Uranus cast when he burned everything!
The problem is, Uranus was supposed to curse Prometheus, so how did he end up cursing himself?
Moreover, judging from Prometheus's words, this curse seems to be related to this newly created world.
In an instant, countless ideas popped into Cronus's mind.
The gods were unsure whether Prometheus was telling the truth or not, and they were all at a loss for how to react. Just then, Atlas's roar came again.
"Prometheus, you've finally met your end! It's a good thing the curse is beyond cure! You should die along with Uranus! Your Majesty, destroy this newborn world, so that the curse on Prometheus will be forever sealed!"
Atlas roared with all his might, a hint of smugness in his heart.
He believed that given the enmity between Cronus and Prometheus, and that by saying these words and expressing such a firm stance, Cronus would surely release him.
He even glanced smugly at Hecate beside Prometheus, thinking to himself, "Didn't He weave the fate of my eternal imprisonment? Is that all?"
But He hadn't been gloating for long when He heard Cronus speak in an extremely solemn and serious voice:
"I, Cronus, in the name of the King of Gods, declare Atlas guilty of instigating discord among the gods, and decree that He shall never again speak aloud, and shall forever hold up the heavens."
Atlas: "?"
After Cronus finished speaking, ignoring Atlas's shocked reaction, he turned to Prometheus and a slow smile appeared on his face:
"Your Highness Prometheus, I deeply sympathize with your plight. I wonder if my divine authority as the King of the Gods can help you?"
The other Titans: "???"
