Greece: I am the master of destiny!

Chapter 56: Giving the Gods a Small Shock

As the ocean that encircles the world, Oceanus was considered one of the best among the Titans in terms of both knowledge and power.

Even though He had been targeted by the brutal god-king Uranus, the powerful lord of the heavens, for so many years and had suffered all kinds of hardships, He had never been so bewildered.

Everything before my eyes was simply too unbelievable.

Ten Titans entered the Underworld, eight of whom attacked Prometheus. Now, these eight are floating neatly on the River Styx.

They were lifeless, their faces ashen, and filled with terror, as if they had encountered something extremely horrific before their deaths.

Not only that, their own laws also completely disappeared, their divine power completely dissipated, and not even a trace of divinity remained.

They floated on the dark River Styx like eight corpses drifting with the current, which looked rather eerie.

Oceanus and Tethys escaped disaster because they chose not to attack Prometheus, but their mood was no better than that of the eight "corpses".

Oceanus had never seen such an incomprehensible method.

Prometheus was clearly just a prophetic god, and there was no fluctuation of any law emanating from him, yet he could manipulate a series of laws such as time and space.

Moreover, He created the concept of "death," a more thorough and terrifying punishment than imprisonment, which also broke the world law that the God of Laws cannot disappear.

How could Oceanus not be shocked?

Oceanus was so shocked that he became somewhat numb to Prometheus's terrifying feat of easily annihilating eight Titans.

After the initial shock, the final result is probably just bewilderment.

At this moment, Oceanus even began to doubt the existence of the gods.

What is death?

What is life?

What is the boundary between life and death?

Tethys's situation wasn't much better, but this primordial water god was ultimately too gentle and couldn't bear to see his brothers and sisters die, so he couldn't help but ask Prometheus a question.

Why create the concept of "death" at all?

Tethys's beautiful eyes were filled with pity, and her tone was even somewhat reproachful: "Prometheus, my child, isn't death too cruel, both to the gods and to all things in this world?"

Faced with Tethys's questioning, Prometheus simply shook his head and spoke softly:

"Gentle goddess of the primordial water, Your Highness Tethys, the meaning of death lies primarily in its contrast with and the value it bestows upon life."

"Death is not the end of everything; quite the opposite, it is the beginning of everything."

"Death is not cruel; it is a relief and a kind of happiness, which is reflected in every day we are alive."

"Death is life."

Tethys frowned; she didn't understand what Prometheus was saying, but Prometheus was already preparing to leave and wouldn't say anything more.

Tethys opened his mouth to call out to Him, but Oceanus stopped him.

Oceanus slowly shook his head at the goddess of the original water, and Tethys swallowed the words that were on the tip of his tongue, watching helplessly as the white figure disappeared into the distance and entered the depths of the underworld.

Behind Him, in every place He walked, countless emerald green shoots miraculously sprouted on the black earth full of sand and stones.

These tender shoots sprouted quickly, grew, and then withered, but after withering, long green stems sprouted again, with fiery red flowers blooming on them.

These flowers continued to spread rapidly into the distance, and in the blink of an eye, they covered both banks of the River Styx, becoming an endless source of vitality in this lifeless world.

Oceanus and Tethys stared blankly at the scene, unable to utter a single word.

"Okeanos, my beloved, what are we to do now?"

Tethys looked at the fiery red flowers covering the mountains and fields, then at the eight "corpses" floating on the River Styx, her beautiful eyes filled with worry.

"Let's leave this world first," Oceanus said, letting out a sigh.

It is unknown when it began, but the child that the Titans watched being born and growing up had grown to a point that they could no longer understand.

This world, its wondrous methods, and the concept of "death" created out of thin air—everything about it left Oceanus both shocked and bewildered.

But He was, after all, the Lord of the Ocean, the eldest of the twelve Titans, and the one who had withstood Uranus's torment the longest. He quickly calmed down and realized the crux of the matter.

"Tethys, my love, perhaps we should think carefully about how to cultivate a good relationship with this prophetic god," Oceanus said.

"He is indeed powerful enough, but this time He has offended a total of eight Titans!" Tethys couldn't help but raise his voice. "If we try to build a good relationship with Him, wouldn't we be making enemies of these eight Titans?"

"What if Prometheus were to lose to the Titans someday..."

"There's no 'what if'."

Oceanus interrupted Tethys without hesitation, and meeting his wife's hesitant gaze, the Oceanid's tone was utterly resolute:

"Even without this possibility, don't you understand, Tethys? Prometheus is not only the lord of this underworld he created, but also the world itself!"

"In this world, He is the embodiment of all things, the creator of all rules, and the absolute ruler. No one can defeat Him here, and no one can harm Him here."

"To defeat Him, you must first destroy this world, otherwise He will never be defeated."

"And what about outside this world?" Tethys couldn't help but ask, "Will He still have this power outside this world?"

"I don't know." Oceanus could only smile wryly at Tethys's question. "But I do know that someone who can create a world is more worthy of friendship than the King of Gods."

Upon hearing this, Tethys seemed to be deep in thought.

During their conversation, the two gods finally arrived at the edge of the underworld. The River Styx, as if throwing away garbage, disdainfully tossed the eight "corpses" floating on its surface.

The instant they left the underworld, the power of law erupted from those eight lifeless bodies, and the deathly ashen color on their faces quickly faded.

The gods awoke from their terror, panting heavily and covered in cold sweat.

Even when they were sealed away underground by Uranus, they had never been so terrified.

The feeling of death was truly terrifying! So terrifying that even the gods would never want to experience it a second time!

Just as the gods were still in shock and had not yet recovered from their experience of being resurrected, they suddenly heard a piercing scream.

"Where is my source power?! How come it's gone again?!"

The gods looked up at the sound and saw Cronus staring wide-eyed in horror at his own hands.

And the already weak laws of harvest and growth emanating from Him were once again tragically fragmented.

A hint of bewilderment flickered in Oceanus's eyes. He wondered why there was life emanating from the death-filled underworld; it was the primordial power of Cronus...

That Cronus is really pitiful...
