Ordinary World: Starting with a divorce from Tian Runye
Chapter 72: Is someone trying to frame Li Dengyun?
Li Xiangqian pondered Du Zhengxian's words for a moment, then racked his brains. The idea he had suggested should only be known to the people at the cultural center. Who would have spread it out, let alone to the Huangyuan Prefectural Committee?
Old Yang and Little Zhao are both good comrades who passed yesterday's vote, it can't be that serious. Li Xiangqian couldn't figure it out either. He didn't seem to have made any enemies. If it wasn't him, then it could only be Li Dengyun. Was someone trying to get rid of Li Dengyun?
Li Xiangqian raised his head.
"Director, the idea was originally mine. I'll accept whatever the organization decides to do."
Du Zhengxian was stunned for a moment.
He didn't expect Li Xiangqian to accept so readily.
"Specific handling opinions have not yet been issued."
Du Zhengxian's voice also lowered.
"The prefectural party committee leaders are personally paying attention to this matter, so we may have to wait for their personal approval."
Last night, Du Zhengxian repeatedly asked Feng Shikuan on the phone about the handling of Li Xiangqian, but Feng Shikuan could not give an answer. Helpless, Feng Shikuan had to tell him that it was the opinion of the prefectural committee. Only then did Du Zhengxian realize that handling Li Xiangqian was not Feng Shikuan's idea, but that someone on the prefectural committee had their eye on Li Xiangqian.
As for how to handle Li Xiangqian, Feng Shikuan naturally couldn't make the decision; he could only wait for a clear reply from the prefectural committee.
Li Xiangqian nodded.
Du Zhengxian hesitated for a moment, then spoke again.
"Xiangqian, you'd better talk to Director Li about this as well."
Li Xiangqian looked up at him.
"Your dad is very protective of his own. Try to talk to him; it's time for leadership changes in various counties and cities, and tell him not to make a scene."
Li Xiangqian nodded.
According to the original plot, Feng Shikuan will soon be transferred to the Huangyuan Prefectural Committee, and the person who will succeed him as the director of the Yuanxi County Revolutionary Committee is Li Dengyun. He cannot become a stumbling block in his father's career.
Li Xiangqian left the office, but the matter was still nagging at him.
In the original story, Li Xiangqian didn't come to the cultural center, so there was no exhibition. He himself, like a butterfly flapping its wings, directly ruined Li Dengyun's career.
Li Xiangqian seemed preoccupied, and as soon as he came out, he bumped into Du Lili.
Du Lili had one hand on her hip and the other pointing at the door to Du Zhengxian's office.
"What does my dad want with you?"
Li Xiangqian was still lost in thought.
"what?"
He responded instinctively.
"Oh. It's nothing."
Du Lili clearly didn't believe it. She grabbed Li Xiangqian's arm.
"No, something's definitely wrong. I know that look on my dad's face all too well; he always makes that face before he's about to do something he's going to do wrong."
Li Xiangqian shook his arm.
"Oh, it's nothing. Go ahead and enjoy your food."
He shook off Du Lili and went straight back to his studio.
In the studio, Lao Yang and Xiao Zhao pretended to be looking at materials, but their ears were clearly perked up. Li Xiangqian had just sat back in his chair not long ago.
Then, the sound of Du Lili and Du Zhengxian arguing came from the business office.
Old Yang and Xiao Zhao in the studio both frowned and pricked up their ears, listening to most of what was going on. They both turned their attention to Li Xiangqian, who looked embarrassed.
A series of hurried footsteps rushed from the business office all the way to the creative studio.
Du Lili stormed in, her face still flushed, her chest heaving.
In the studio, Lao Yang and Xiao Zhao both lowered their heads.
"Li Xiangqian!"
Du Lili stood in front of Li Xiangqian.
Li Xiangqian raised his head.
"What do you want to do?"
"The exhibition was a collective idea from our cultural center. It's a collective effort. We can't let you handle it all by yourself."
Du Lili's voice was fiery.
Li Xiangqian looked helpless.
This was the idea of the prefectural committee leaders. Do you think I wanted it?
He pursed his lips, but still said something.
"This was originally my idea."
Li Xiangqian stroked his chin and smacked his lips.
"Hmm. Tsk. He deserves it."
Ignoring everything else, Du Lili suddenly turned her head and shouted at Lao Yang and Xiao Zhao.
"We're going to the county revolutionary committee now. We'll explain things to the county leaders. Xiao Zhao, Lao Yang, you two come with me."
Upon hearing this, Li Xiangqian was so startled he almost jumped off his chair.
My great-aunt.
Are you trying to force me to resign or what?
He grabbed Du Lili's arm and forced her into a chair.
"Sit down, sit down."
Du Lili had just stepped out when Li Xiangqian pulled her back.
"Leaders have their own judgment. I accept whatever decision the organization makes."
Li Xiangqian turned to look at Xiao Zhao and Lao Yang.
The two kept their heads down, too embarrassed to look at Li Xiangqian.
"Let's leave this matter here. Nobody else should get involved."
Du Lili was unconvinced. Her eyes were slightly red.
"I just feel it's unfair."
Her voice trembled with a hint of crying.
"Where is it unfair? I was definitely the one who came up with the idea."
"It's just unfair."
Li Xiangqian was completely baffled by this situation.
"My dear aunt, please have mercy. Dedicate your limited energy to your boundless cultural work. Listen to me, let's stop here."
Li Xiangqian's tone was firm and brooked no argument.
While I'm trying to figure out how to downplay the situation, you're still thinking about how to escalate it.
If another news comes out that "Li Dengyun's son led a group to cause a disturbance at the Revolutionary Committee," will my beloved father still be able to make progress?
"Listen to me."
Li Xiangqian lowered his voice, but his tone was unusually serious.
"Let's leave this matter here."
Du Lili looked at him and bit her lip.
"I know you're afraid of getting us involved."
Her voice softened.
"You're worried about me."
ha?
Li Xiangqian frowned.
"Who cares about you?"
……
evening.
Before leaving get off work.
Runye then arrived at the cultural center.
She didn't go straight into the yard; she stopped her bicycle outside the gate and peeked inside.
There was no one under the old locust tree. The courtyard was empty, and the setting sun cast long shadows of the cave dwellings.
Runye mentally estimated the time. There were still about ten minutes left before she could get off work.
She waited outside the gate with her cart.
After a while, there was a knock on the door of the reading room. Old Wu came out with a faux leather bag tucked under his arm and locked the door behind him.
Runye then pushed the cart into the yard.
Old Wu spotted her immediately and was taken aback for a moment.
"Aunt Xiangqian, you're here so early?"
"Forehead."
Runye smiled awkwardly.
"You guys are just getting off work too. The timing is perfect."
Old Wu grunted in response, turned around, and walked out, feeling quite puzzled.
Immediately afterward, Lao Yang and Xiao Zhao also came out of the studio. The two of them reacted exactly the same way as Lao Wu when they saw Runye, pausing for a moment at first.
After realizing what was happening, Xiao Zhao turned around and shouted at the top of his lungs towards the studio.
"Xiangqian! Your wife is here to pick you up!"
Runye bit her lip, gripped the handlebars tightly with both hands, and stared down at the yellow earth on the ground.
Xiao Zhao's shout was incredibly loud.
Old Yang turned his head and smiled at Runye before leaving. Little Zhao, carrying his cloth bag, slowly followed him out, glancing back after a few steps.
"Here it comes, here it comes."
Li Xiangqian responded from inside the studio.
"So early today?"
Li Xiangqian stood at the entrance of the cave dwelling, looking at Runye.
Normally, he would sit under the old locust tree for more than ten minutes before Runye would finally arrive.
