Huayu: Live a carefree life

Chapter 19 I Want to See You

After finishing a game, Lu Jie picked up the folder and started looking through it.

Someday or One Day, written by Chien Chi-feng and Lin Hsin-hui, is a romance, suspense, and science fiction film.

After patiently reviewing the script outline and some scene details, Lu Jie felt it was indeed quite interesting, and that casting Xiao Hu as the female lead should be no problem.

Since the second female lead in "Serenade of Peaceful Joy" wasn't suitable, let's just get the female lead in a modern romance drama.

Therefore, Lu Jie asked Xiao Wu to notify Lin Zixian, the general manager of Lingjie Entertainment Investment, to come to the general office to discuss the matter.

Lin Zixian was introduced by Wang Changtian and initially worked in a management position at Sohu Entertainment.

"Mr. Lin, I think this script is pretty good. Take it back and study it, then contact the two screenwriters. Ideally, we should buy out the script directly. If that doesn't work, we can take control and invest in and find someone to film it ourselves."

Lin Zixian nodded silently, then quickly went through the script outline. Although he was not a professional screenwriter, he still had basic appreciation skills.

"Okay, Mr. Lu, could you tell us which production company we're planning to collaborate with? This is an original script, and the outline looks quite interesting. Do you think a buyout budget of five million is appropriate?"

"You can decide on the price." Lu Jie was indifferent to money. "When you negotiate, tie the two screenwriters to the script and let them continue writing the script for this drama. Like I said, money will never be a problem for us at Lingjie."

"As for who to hire, we have shares in Daylight Entertainment, Lemon Pictures is coming soon, and New Classics Media and Huace Media are also candidates."

Upon hearing that four well-known film and television production companies were involved, Lin Zixian immediately felt confident. "Okay, Mr. Lu, I will definitely get it done this week."

"Okay, get it done as soon as possible. Also, hurry up with the recruitment of staff for the film and television investment department; I can't do everything myself."

"Okay, Mr. Lu. I submitted the suitable candidates to HR two days ago, and the headhunter is currently in talks with them. Three of them have already expressed their willingness to join the company."

"Very good." Lu Jie nodded and smiled with satisfaction. After listening to Lin Zixian's report on Yu Tou's other recent work, he then signaled for him to leave.

Seeing that the time was right, Lu Jie called Han Zijie to thank him for recommending the script and to say that he had decided to take the lead in the production. He added that if Tencent were to co-invest, he could recommend other actors besides the female lead.

Han Zijie was overjoyed to receive Lu Jie's call. President Sun had already instructed him to cultivate a good relationship with President Lu, and this unexpected gain was just the beginning.

Lu Jie didn't tell Xiao Hu about the new drama right away because he was in a hurry to finalize the casting last time.

There's plenty of time this time. Anyway, her role in "Spirit Sword Mountain" isn't very big. Even if Xiao Hu is terrible at acting, she can finish filming in 20 days. It probably won't even interfere with her final exams.

So let's wait until everything is ready before giving her a big surprise. As for acting skills, idol dramas don't need acting skills at all... a pretty face is the most important thing!

…………

"Brother A-Jie, long time no see!" Liu Haocun deliberately tossed his hair as they met. "Hey, look closely, I'm not a tomboy, hmph!"

Lu Jie especially liked the tone of her voice, which made him even happier. "Hehe, who said Little Cun is a tomboy? Tell me, and I'll go and argue with him for you!"

"Hmph, of course it's some philandering bad brother!" Liu Haocun pouted his cute little lips proudly and sat down with Lu Jie's help.

Lu Jie invited them to dinner at a Japanese restaurant again; there was no other way, these women all liked that kind of food.

Liu Haocun's outfit today is a combination of a busy top and a simple bottom: a European-style round-neck short-sleeved shirt on top and light-colored straight-leg jeans on the bottom.

You have to take off your shoes to enter the private room. Lu Jie noticed that although she practices dance, her feet are not deformed and are quite pretty with fair skin.

Another reason why Lu Jie dislikes Japanese food is that almost all Japanese restaurants have private rooms where you sit on tatami mats to eat, and even if you sit cross-legged in a Chinese style, it's uncomfortable to sit for a long time.

"Can you drink?" Lu Jie's original intention in inviting her out was to test drive, so he started to probe when ordering food.

Liu Haocun casually flipped open the drinks menu. "Sure, but I don't really like sake."

"Then let's have some sweet red wine, there's nothing good here." Lu Jie flipped through the bottles and lost interest when he saw that they were all from the US, Australia, and New Zealand, so he ordered the most expensive sweet red wine.

Liu Haocun responded, "Brother A-Jie, you can decide. I don't know anything about wine."

After ordering drinks and food, and the waiter left the private room, Lu Jie directly pulled Liu Haocun, who was still pondering the topic of conversation, into his arms and kissed her, leaving the young girl completely bewildered.

But after her gentle pushes failed, she stopped resisting and relaxed her body, actively engaging with Lu Jie.

Lu Jie kissed her for a full minute before letting go, admiring Xiao Cun, whose face was flushed from the kiss and who was still in a daze.

"You big bad guy!" Liu Haocun, having regained his senses, swung his little fist and punched Lu Jie on the shoulder. "How could you do this... suddenly kiss me!"

The little pink fist didn't hurt at all. Lu Jie looked at Liu Haocun with a dangerous gaze again, "Go look through the chat history yourself. Didn't I tell you that if you called me a big bad guy, I would kiss you to death when we meet?"

"Yes... umm..." Before Liu Haocun could refute, his mouth was covered again, and they continued to entangle.

A moment later, Lu Jie parted Liu Haocun's lips again, licking his lips triumphantly to savor the taste. "This is punishment for your careless words just now. By the way, the lipstick tastes nice~"

This time, he didn't let her slip out of his control; he still let her lean on him.

"You..." Liu Haocun hadn't expected Lu Jie to be this kind of person. After quickly thinking it over, she leaned against him even more decisively. "Fine, I can't fight city hall. I'm already in your arms, so I can only let my bad brother do as he pleases~"

Just then, the waiter started serving drinks and side dishes. Lu Jie held Liu Haocun in his arms until the waiter left, then gently rubbed her nose.

"You make me sound like a villain who abducts women."

Liu Haocun wrinkled his nose. "Brother, isn't that right? You've already got your eye on her when she's only 18! No, wait, I haven't even known you for long. Ugh~ You really are a big bad guy!"

"Do you know what day it was when we first met?" Lu Jie recalled that the two first met at the wrap party for "One Second". The date was easy to remember because it was his 23rd birthday.

Liu Haocun didn't really know the man she was leaning on, but she quickly remembered seeing his birthday on his QQ profile. "I remember now, our birthdays are only two days apart. Was your birthday the day of the wrap party?"

"Smart!" Lu Jie gave her another light peck. "So, wouldn't you say we're destined for each other?"

"Hmph, let's just say we're destined to meet!" Liu Haocun responded to the light peck, but his tone remained arrogant.

Then she lightly punched Lu Jie a few more times, "How long have you been chasing me calling me 'tomboy' since that day? Huh? You big bad guy! I'll bite you to death!"

Liu Haocun grabbed Lu Jie's arm and started biting, seemingly biting hard but not hurting at all.

After a long while, Liu Haocun released his arm, which bore a tooth mark, and said arrogantly, "I told you, if I ever see you, you big bad guy, I'll bite you to death! Humph!"

Lu Jie touched the teeth marks, pulled her closer, and chuckled mischievously, "I think I also said I'd show you what a bite really is?"

"You!" Liu Haocun blushed again, but she had already mentally prepared herself for the fact that they had chatted online for so long and she had agreed to meet in person.

But how was she supposed to respond to this? Just then, the waiter knocked on the door to start serving the food, so she took the opportunity to break free from Lu Jie's embrace and return to her own side.

We'll deal with the rest later; right now, filling our stomachs is the most important thing!
