Alien invasion? Luckily, I'm Superman.
Chapter 9 Falling into the Sun
Commander Zhao remained silent for a long time.
Then he looked up at the screen. His eyes changed, like a piece of iron that had been heated and hardened after cooling. His right hand slowly clenched into a fist.
He silently vowed: even if Su Mo failed, he would continue to fight. From this moment on, every second, every day, every living person would fight. Until the last drop of blood was shed, until not an inch of this world remained for the invaders.

In space, Su Mo's consciousness floated in the darkness. He could feel the sunlight shining on him.
His body was functioning automatically, his wounds were healing, his energy was slowly recovering, and his powerful physique was sustaining his vital signs. But his mind was foggy, his thoughts as if veiled by a layer of mist, indistinct and unclear.
Gradually, he regained consciousness, and what sustained him to continue flying were two very simple thoughts.
One reason is responsibility. There are billions of people on Earth. Perhaps it was the awakening of Superman's abilities that gave Su Mo some of Superman's traits, or perhaps Su Mo himself wanted to be a superhero, and now he wants to protect humanity.
The other hope for victory: the sun. If he could reach the sun, if he could absorb enough radiation within it, he could recover. He could become stronger. He could go back. Sunlight alone made him so resilient; if he could truly enter the sun's interior, things would surely be different.
These two thoughts, like two thin threads, pulled his weary body forward, guiding him toward the sun.
As he drew closer to the sun, his body began to accelerate under its gravitational pull, its trajectory slightly curved, as if being slowly pulled towards that star by an invisible hand. His strength was restored, and his physical abilities improved.
He had entered the Sun's gravitational well. The net behind him, guided by the spacecraft, rapidly unfolded, like a giant blue net, closing in from all directions.
The net shimmered with a cold light in space, and the spacecraft at the edge constantly adjusted its angle to ensure that the net could accurately cover the target.
The net was getting closer and closer. Su Mo felt it, and the instant the net fell, Su Mo turned around sharply.
Thermal rays.
Two intense beams of heat shot from his eyes. Under the sunlight, his energy was restored, and the heat beams were amplified. The net was still sliced through by the heat beams.
The network cable snapped the moment it came into contact with the heat rays, the eerie blue light dimmed, and the broken cable drifted away into space.
On the bridge of the research vessel, the science officer stared at the broken fishing net on the screen for a second, then his expression changed from surprise to annoyance.
"He still has the ability to resist?!" The science officer's voice sharpened, his vertical pupils shrinking to slits. He had assumed Su Mo was completely powerless to resist. Clearly, this space bumpkin was unaware of Kryptonians, creatures whose strength increases with sunlight.
That net was specially designed to capture large creatures; it had successfully captured space creatures hundreds of times larger than Su Mo. It could even capture space whales larger than battleships.
Unfortunately, they encountered Su Mo's heat rays. Su Mo's resistance thwarted the commander's plans. In the flagship's bridge, the commander stared at the screen, his gray face expressionless.
"Never mind," he shook his head and said calmly, "It doesn't matter if we can't catch it."
He didn't order a continued pursuit. Su Mo had already been captured by the sun. He didn't believe any creature could survive inside the sun, and he was unaware that while he was ordering a halt to the attack, Su Mo's wounds were healing and his strength was steadily increasing.
On the screen, Su Mo's body began to accelerate its descent under the sun's gravity, its trajectory becoming increasingly steep and its speed increasing. He was being pulled towards that star, and he was also actively accelerating; he had already penetrated deep into the sun's gravitational well.
"He has entered the sun's gravitational well," an operator reported. "The descent is accelerating."
The commander remained silent for a moment.
Capturing Su Mo deep into the sun's surface is no easy task. This fleet is a standard combat formation, equipped with warships, frigates, and supply ships, but it does not carry any engineering vessels.
Engineering vessels are large ships specifically designed for operation in extreme environments. They have thick protective armor and powerful engines, enabling them to freely enter and exit the gravitational wells of stars.
But they didn't. The fleet's mission was to invade Earth, a planet they had assessed as having a "low-level civilization." Who would have thought they'd need to capture an alien being next to a yellow star?
"Give up," he said. "It's not worth risking it for one individual. That Earthling couldn't possibly survive if he went into the sun."
He paused, then added, "Recover the research vessel. The fleet remains on alert."
The corona.
Su Mo's body finally touched the outermost layer of that star. The temperature instantly soared to millions of degrees Celsius. But his body did not burn.
The Kryptonian's body begins a deep, instinctive reaction the moment it comes into contact with solar radiation. A faint golden glow appears on his skin. The millions of degrees Celsius of the corona temperature are nothing more than a hot bath for him.
But that's not enough!
Su Mo continued his descent through the corona. Solar radiation was seeping into his body little by little, like parched land absorbing rainwater.
He's not as powerful as Superman in the comics, after all. In the comics, Superman can be fully revived by soaking in the sun, and might even gain greater power.
But Su Mo isn't Superman from the comics. He's a young man who was sent to Earth and lived under the yellow sun for twenty-five years, but whose abilities have only recently awakened, unlike Superman who absorbed sunlight for nearly 20 years. His ability to convert sunlight is far inferior to that of Superman in the comics.
Radiation flowed slowly through his body. Su Mo floated in the chromosphere, carried by the torrent of plasma, continuing to sink. He advanced relentlessly towards the solar core.
His eyes were closed as he began to absorb the sunlight with all his might. His powerful heart pounded, urging the blood throughout his body to flow faster. This made him temporarily forget about the alien fleet in space; only by becoming stronger could he protect Earth.
He was enveloped in light, and golden, orange, and red plasma surged around him like a warm blanket.
Those rays of light were also seeping into his body little by little. Just as nuclear fusion requires squeezing light atomic nuclei together to synthesize larger atomic nuclei in order to release enormous energy, Su Mo's body, like nuclear fusion, absorbed sunlight to enhance his physical strength.
Slowly, continuously.
