HP: Wizards at Hogwarts

Chapter 16 Be a Warrior

After reintroducing themselves, Elaine and Harry invited the Weasley twins to sit down.

"Would you like to sit down and talk together?"

Thank you very much for your invitation.

"However, we regret to inform you that we cannot."

"Because we're going to walk around the middle carriage now, Li Qiaodan brought a big bag of spiders."

Upon hearing the word "spider," Ron instinctively shrank back.

"We're entrusting our little brother to you. See you later."

"Alright then, I hope you have fun."

As soon as the twins left, Ron couldn't wait to close the door.

Elaine lay back down.

However, after being disturbed by the Weasley twins, he was no longer sleepy and simply closed his eyes to pretend to doze off, while listening to Harry and Ron's hushed conversation.

Ron's emotional intelligence was noticeably lower than his two older brothers'; after only a few words, he steered the conversation to the scar on Harry's forehead, and soon the two were talking about their respective families.

"...Before Hagrid told me, I knew nothing about wizards, my parents, or Voldemort."

"You actually mentioned the mysterious person's name?!"

Ron was so frightened he barely dared to breathe, his face a mixture of shock and excitement: "I should have known, there's only one like you in this world..."

Harry quickly said, "I said his name not because of bravery or anything, but because I never knew that name couldn't be said. I believe I still have a lot to learn..."

"You certainly have a lot to learn, but that definitely doesn't include things like 'you can't say someone's name'."

Elaine's sudden interruption brought the two to a halt in their conversation.

"Uh... I thought you were sleeping."

"How can I possibly fall asleep if you all speak in such low voices? I might fall asleep more easily if you speak normally."

Ron asked curiously, "What's the reason for this?"

"Well..."

"It's probably a habit I developed in the past."

"As you know, my living environment in the past wasn't very good, so I always slept in noisy environments."

Upon hearing this, Ron felt as if a knife had been plunged into his heart.

I shouldn't have asked!

Harry looked at Elaine: "Why did you say that what I'm supposed to learn doesn't include 'not saying someone's name'?"

"Listen, Harry."

"After buying the textbooks, I had already read 'The History of Magic' beforehand, so I had a general understanding of Voldemort."

Elaine stared at Harry: "Excuse me for being blunt, but that guy is essentially a terrorist with absolutely no intellectual depth, downright low."

When Ron heard Elaine so boldly utter the name "Voldemort" and even speak so disparagingly of him, he was once again so frightened that he dared not breathe.

He suddenly felt itchy all over.

Looking down, I realized it was the fat mouse Banban in my arms. It had woken up sometime earlier and was now trembling uncontrollably.

Ron figured it must be because Harry and Elaine had mentioned the infamous name "Voldemort" one after the other that his Scabbers were frightened.

"Voldemort was able to be so rampant only because others feared his power."

"But a rule built on fear is doomed to fail, so Voldemort will ultimately be defeated!"

Harry pressed, "Why?"

Elaine replied, "Because humans are creatures that have evolved gradually in the process of facing fear, overcoming fear, and ultimately using fear to their advantage."

"The hymn to humanity is the hymn to courage, and the greatness of humanity is the greatness of courage."

Voldemort could never understand this, not even in his death.

As Elaine spoke, he clenched his fists, his voice becoming increasingly impassioned.

"As human beings, we should learn to face and overcome fear, and become brave, rather than learn to be cowardly and weak."

Answer me, Harry.

"Will you be a warrior or a coward?"

Elaine's words, like a bull in a fight, relentlessly assaulted Harry's mind.

At that moment, Harry felt his scalp tingle, his heart pound, and his blood rushing.

He had never heard such words before, not even as a child.

Each word is familiar to me, but when put together, they become so extraordinary, so unforgettable, and so resounding.

He suddenly had many thoughts.

The first person he thought of wasn't Voldemort—he didn't yet have a clear understanding of Voldemort.

So the first thing he thought of was his life with the Dursleys.

If Voldemort was the most feared being in the wizarding world, then Uncle Dursley… no, Vernon Dursley was the most feared being in the Dursley family.

In a sense, Vernon Dursley was another Voldemort!

However, despite living under someone else's roof, despite being isolated and helpless, and facing oppression and abuse day after day, he never forgot to resist and never lost his courage. In the end, he saw the light at the end of the tunnel and waited for Hagrid's arrival, thus defeating 'evil' and 'fear'.

Isn't this a form of argument?

Harry suddenly understood.

It's as if a bolt of lightning suddenly flashed across the back of my brain, opening up and connecting something.

Never in his life had he had such a clear understanding and experience of the words "fear," "courage," and "resistance" as he did now.

"Eleven, I understand what you mean."

Harry gripped Elaine's hand tightly and shouted excitedly.

"You're right. Humans should learn to be brave, to face fear, to overcome fear, and ultimately to turn fear into their own."

"To dare to say Voldemort's name is certainly courageous, but to call Voldemort 'Mysterio' is undoubtedly a sign of cowardice."

"I want to be a warrior, not a coward!"

Elaine nodded in satisfaction.

"It seems you've figured it out."

"Yes, I understand!"

"Great, very energetic!!"

Elaine leaned back again: "You guys keep talking, I'm going back to sleep."

Harry: "..."

Ron: "..."

Banban: "..."

Isn't the contrast between your past and present too great?

Around 12:30, a series of clicking and clattering sounds came from the corridor.

A smiling woman with dimples pushed open the cubicle: "Honey, would you like to buy something to eat?"

She glanced at Harry first, then swept her gaze over Ron, and finally fixed her gaze entirely on Elaine.

Having served as a snack vendor on the Hogwarts Express for so long, she had long since developed a sharp eye, able to quickly discern which student was richer.

Of course, whether the students have money or not will not affect her work attitude.

"There's food?!"

Harry was the first to jump up and head down the aisle to start his shopping spree.
