HP: Wizards at Hogwarts
Chapter 3 Dumbledore: This boy has the air of an old friend.
"When a young wizard experiences his first magical outburst, his name will be written into the Book of Admission by Hogwarts' 'Pen of Acceptance'."
"During the first summer after a young wizard turns eleven, an owl will deliver his Hogwarts acceptance letter to him."
Dumbledore explained in detail how Hogwarts admits young wizards.
"If both of a young wizard's parents are Muggles, their acceptance letters will be delivered personally by a professor from the school."
"Oh, perhaps you don't know, 'Muggle' refers to ordinary people who don't have magic."
"After all, most Muggles would find it hard to believe in the existence of magic without seeing it for themselves, and they also need guidance from professionals when they enter the magical world."
"Given your current situation... I think I don't need to prove the existence of magic to you anymore."
"Now you've altered the memories of this 'hotel manager'—if I remember correctly, that's what Muggles call them—using 'magic'!"
After finishing his long speech, Dumbledore finally stopped, but his eyes remained fixed on Elijah through his half-moon spectacles.
The more closely he looked at it, the more his heart felt blocked.
Short, light blonde hair, sapphire-blue eyes, a handsome face as if sculpted by a knife and axe, and outstanding magical talent...
Merlin's wool socks!
This young man has the air of an old friend!
Dumbledore couldn't help but think of one of his old friends.
Both of them are equally talented and equally daring!
Just think about it, which eleven-year-old wizard could alter a Muggle's memories without any psychological burden, sneak into the most luxurious hotel in Britain and eat and stay for free, or even pull out a gun at the slightest provocation?
Elaine finally noticed the gaze behind the half-moon shaped glasses.
For some reason, he suddenly felt a chill.
"Can you do the same thing as me?"
This is a perfectly normal question.
Dumbledore immediately snapped out of his daze: "You mean altering someone's memories and conjuring up a pistol? Of course, many experienced wizards can do that!"
He paused for a moment, then continued, "But before this, I had never seen any wizard do this without training or a wand."
"Even among the outstanding graduates of Hogwarts over the years, only a very few have been able to achieve this level of magic, yet you have done it at such a young age."
"Without a doubt, Mr. Yakut, you possess remarkably powerful magical talent!"
Dumbledore's eyes remained fixed on Elaine.
"Would you like to attend Hogwarts School and try to master this power?"
"I think you should understand that if left unchecked, your abilities could cause a lot of trouble for others, and even for yourself."
Dumbledore knew perfectly well what the psychology of boys at this age was like.
Instead of immediately reprimanding Elaine with harsh words like "What you're doing is wrong, illegal, and harmful to society," he simply used the milder word "trouble."
This is because he is not yet sure whether Elaine has the mindset and wisdom to accept that he is not special, not God, and not a god, but just an ordinary wizard.
Over the years, Dumbledore had seen far too many children who, relying on their strength, acted with utter disregard for the law.
When dealing with naughty children, it's useless for adults to simply deny them; on the contrary, it may lead them further astray.
The real approach is to teach according to individual aptitude and guide students patiently.
Let children know what they can and cannot do, and what they can discuss and agree upon!
First, state that "many wizards can modify memories," implying that "there are many people more capable than you, and resisting is just asking for trouble," and then acknowledge the other party's magical talent.
By combining deterrence and encouragement in this way, most children can be controlled.
As the headmaster of a school, Dumbledore had no trouble mastering such basic educational techniques.
"You mean...?"
dong dong——
The knocking interrupted Elaine's voice.
"Oh dear, it looks like my afternoon tea has arrived."
Elaine immediately dropped the envelope, his previously furrowed brows relaxing at the same time.
"Would you like to try some, Principal?"
"I think we can have afternoon tea together and chat about Hogwarts."
Dumbledore would never refuse a good meal!
So he nodded and smiled at Elaine, "Hopefully there will be some snacks to my liking!"
Ok……
Perhaps this young wizard isn't a Gryffindor, but a Hufflepuff?
That would be perfect; then I wouldn't have to worry about him following in the footsteps of that old friend.
After all, what bad intentions could a little badger possibly have?
The most vicious thing they can do to someone is to prevent them from having a late-night snack.
As it turns out, the Ritz Hotel truly is the best hotel in the UK, and the honor of "best afternoon tea" is well-deserved.
—Such a fine afternoon tea would certainly not have the 'overly sweet' flavor that Dumbledore likes.
"The taste is very good, but it would be even better if it were a bit sweeter."
Dumbledore put down his tea, looked at the table full of pastries, and could not hide his disappointment.
Elaine could only laugh.
"So, what's your decision?"
"Consider...you mean going to Hogwarts? Oh, of course I'd love to go! I don't think many people could resist entering the magical world. I just hope the dormitories at Hogwarts are as comfortable as they are here."
The two of them looked up at the room's decor at the same time.
"Well..."
"In terms of environment, I think it's about the same."
Dumbledore lied without batting an eye.
The two leisurely enjoyed their afternoon tea, during which Elaine consulted Dumbledore about Hogwarts, asking about everything from the number of students and the quality of the teaching staff to the food, tuition fees, and environmental hygiene.
"...So, wizarding students' dormitories also have toilets and showers?"
"Yes, child! Yes!!"
Dumbledore didn't know why Elaine was so concerned about this, but he still proudly recounted his achievements.
"In fact, this facility was added after I became the principal, after I applied to the Ministry of Magic to have professionals come and add it."
"Can you imagine? Hogwarts has been around for over a dozen centuries, but until fifty years ago, there were still common rooms in the school without washrooms."
"That's right, it's Hufflepuff School!"
"The poor little badgers even have to run outside the Slytherin dormitories and share a washroom with the Slytherin students!"
