HP: Wizards at Hogwarts
Chapter 31 The root of the chaos in the wizarding world lies not outside, but within Hogwarts!
"Just because it's always been this way, does that mean it's right?"
"It didn't happen before because nobody thought of it or did it."
"But with anything, someone always has to be the first to do it, and I'm willing to be a pioneer and establish a new tradition for Hogwarts!"
Professor McGonagall looked at Dumbledore with a helpless expression.
Dumbledore paused for a few breaths, then nodded and said, "It's alright, Minerva."
"Let's listen to what Mr. Yakut has to say!"
This sudden turn of events caught all the teachers and students off guard.
This was the first time they had ever seen someone give a "freshman speech" at a sorting ceremony, and they found it so interesting that they forgot about their hunger.
All the students stared wide-eyed at Elvin, eager to hear what he had to say.
The Gryffindor table.
Harry frowned, his face full of worry: "What is Elaine up to now...?"
Ron pouted, "He's such a show-off!"
The twins chuckled softly, clearly also looking forward to Elaine's speech.
"George, isn't this funny?"
"That's so true, Fred! Why didn't we think of doing that back then?"
The Slytherin table.
"Hmph, just trying to attract attention!"
"Who does that kid think he is?! Even if there's going to be a freshman speech, it should be Young Master Malfoy who gives it!"
The two short, stout henchmen were indignant, while Malfoy's face immediately darkened upon hearing this.
"Enough, Crabbe, Goyle!"
"I wouldn't stoop to giving a freshman speech! Look at that guy, he's like a monkey in a circus..."
Although he said that, Malfoy didn't really think so.
envy!
I'm so envious!
Why didn't I think of this before, giving a speech as a representative of the new students and stealing the spotlight?!
Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Elaine spoke.
Why am I disappointed with the magical world?
"Because the entire magical world is filled with arrogance, prejudice, and discrimination."
"Have any of you seen, heard of, or experienced similar situations where someone is isolated, ostracized, or even bullied and discriminated against simply because their thoughts, actions, or stances differ slightly from others, perhaps without any reason?"
None of the teachers and students dared to answer.
They've seen this kind of situation far too often.
"Of course you've seen, heard, and experienced it!"
Elaine continued, "Not to mention you guys, even I have seen this situation more than once in the short time I've been in contact with the magical world for less than fifty days."
"When wizards talk about Gryffindor, they say that the people there are impulsive, reckless, mischievous, and thoughtless; when they talk about Slytherin, they say that the people there are all bad and Death Eater trainees; when they talk about Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, they say that they are all bookworms and useless idiots."
What a narrow-minded view!
"What an absurd idea!"
"This is the arrogance and prejudice of wizards!"
Elaine had barely begun speaking when his words quickly resonated with most of the teachers and students present.
Since entering the magical world, bullying and discrimination have been a constant presence around them.
Some people have tried to resist and speak up for the bullied and discriminated against, but ultimately they could not resist the tide. Gradually, some chose to ignore it, while others chose to join in.
Why does this phenomenon occur?
"I do not understand!"
"We're all wizards, so why label others and use just one or two words to define a person or group?"
"After thinking about it for over a month, I finally know why!"
"The root cause of this phenomenon isn't outside, it's here, right here at Hogwarts!"
Elaine suddenly raised his voice, his face contorted with indignation as he held up the Sorting Hat: "From the moment Hogwarts sorted its young wizards into houses, the instant we put this hat on our own heads, a pathetic, thick barrier was erected between us!"
"Hogwarts' Sorting House tradition is a breeding ground for prejudice and sowing discord!"
"If the teachers and students at this school are a little bad, the entire British wizarding world will be a mess!"
"The state of the British wizarding world today is the responsibility of every professor, student, and even this Sorting Hat in my hand!"
These words caused an uproar in the room.
All the teachers and students cast strange glances at Elaine, even the Sorting Hat looked at her sideways with a smirk.
Goodness...
This little wizard is really outspoken!
They actually attributed the chaos and prejudice among wizards that permeated the entire British magical world to Hogwarts traditions!
Who gave him the courage?
Godric Gryffindor?!
but……
That makes some sense!
The audience erupted in enthusiastic applause.
Students from Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin all cheered loudly for Elaine's speech, and many even stood up in excitement.
Professor McGonagall looked at Elaine with a very complicated expression.
It was a headache, but also full of appreciation.
This newly enrolled wizard, although he caused quite a stir, is different from the Weasley twins; he seems to be a very thoughtful child!
Dumbledore also fell into deep thought.
Was Hogwarts' Sorting House tradition really a mistake?
Elaine raised his hands slightly and made a pressing motion in the air. He waited until everyone stopped clapping before continuing his speech.
"Prejudice in people's hearts is a mountain that cannot be shaken off; but discrimination based on bloodline is an even greater river that is difficult to cross!"
"On the way to Hogwarts, I heard pure-blood classmates call Muggle classmates 'lower wizards' more than once, or even worse, use words that start with 'M'."
"To be honest, I'm heartbroken."
Words that start with 'M'...
Is it a mud-based seed?!
Everyone turned their attention to the Slytherin table.
Everyone knows that only a Slytherin student would say such a thing.
Everyone knows that magic originates from the wilderness.
"The first group of lucky ones to gain magic power were all from Muggle families. It was through their tireless efforts and the inheritance from generation to generation that the so-called 'pure-blood families' came into being, and that the magic world we know today came into being."
"But in the current magical world, all wizards are placed on a hierarchy of contempt, and nobility and worth are determined by a wizard's bloodline."
"Purebloods look down on mixed-race people, mixed-race people look down on people of mixed blood, and people of mixed blood look down on people of anonymity."
"Do you know what this resembles? The backward and corrupt Indian caste system!"
The Indian-origin witch sisters: "..."
If you want to criticize British society, then criticize British society. Why are you calling on India?!
Professor McGonagall turned to Dumbledore, frantically sending signals with her eyes.
Aren't you going to stop him?
I have a feeling that if he keeps talking, he'll offend all the Slytherin students!
