America, starting as a trainee police officer

Chapter 22 focuses on the real crimes.

"You mean... painkillers?"

Bianca may be naive, but she's not stupid; otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to graduate from American medical school and become a doctor.

Medical school in the United States is not only expensive, but graduating is also very difficult.

You really can't graduate from there without some brains.

"Bingo! The only thing that can keep these drug addicts and alcoholics in the hospital is painkillers."

As he spoke, Li Wei turned the IV drip control valve to stop the drip. Then he slowly withdrew the needle from Frank's hand.

Frank, who was pretending to be asleep, immediately opened his eyes in a fit of rage after realizing that his medication had been cut off.

"For Fuck Sake!? Can't you just let a disabled old man like me enjoy some peace and quiet? Do you have to be so cruel? Seriously?"

He stared at Li Wei in disbelief. This old acquaintance who had arrested him twice.

He spread his hands, looking displeased.

"No, Mr. Gallagher, please describe the appearance of the person who attacked you yesterday. You are not a suspect now, but a victim."

As he spoke, Li Wei gave a warm smile.

Seeing Frank's discomfiture, Tim stood a short distance away, hands clasped together, a slight smile playing on his lips, clearly satisfied with Levi's handling of the situation.

"God, if only I had seen him! That lunatic was dressed all in black, wearing a black hood, and the streetlights along that stretch of road were broken; I couldn't see anything at all. How was I supposed to know who he was!"

Frank got angry when he talked about Levi yesterday.

Unfortunately, he didn't know that the person who broke his leg was the very policeman standing in front of him.

"Frank, with this information alone, it's difficult for us to help you. Can you think of any other details? For example, is there anything special about the suspect?"

To confirm that Frank really hadn't noticed anything, Levi asked very detailed questions.

But Tim saw it as a demonstration of a police officer's dedication and responsibility.

At this moment, Li Wei had successfully left an impression on him as a future good policeman.

"God! I told you I couldn't see clearly! I definitely want to find that bastard more than you do!" Frank exclaimed excitedly.

Seeing that he really couldn't remember anything, Li Wei was relieved.

He burned the clothes he wore during the crime yesterday on the balcony of his apartment with an iron bucket. As for the iron baseball bat, he cleaned it with alcohol and put it in the closet.

He planned to throw it in the trash can after the storm had passed.

He closed the notebook: "Well then, my TO and I will go to the scene and investigate further to see if we can find any other clues."

"You better be! Mother Fucker, what kind of psychopath would do such a thing to a disabled and helpless old woman like me? Ouch, I can't take it anymore! Doctor, I'm in pain! Give me painkillers!"

As he spoke, Frank began to wail.

Bianca had just arrived in Los Angeles and didn't know that Frank was a deadbeat. She thought he was really in pain and was so anxious that she wanted to put the IV needle back into Frank's vein.

But as soon as she reached out, Li Wei grabbed her wrist.

The two of them were pressed together, less than ten centimeters apart.

"Dr. Samson, you may not know much about Mr. Gallagher. He absolutely refuses to pay for your hospital's medical expenses. You'll have to pay for all the medications you give him yourself."

"My suggestion is, as long as he doesn't die, just throw him out of the hospital."

Tim, who was standing nearby, nodded in agreement.

Frank's alcoholism reminded him of Elizabeth, his ex-wife, a narcotics officer.

However, her undercover work led her to become addicted to drugs, and she was subsequently dismissed from the police force.

Now he's homeless, no different from a scoundrel like Frank.

Tim had absolutely no liking for Frank, and he wouldn't have come if the case hadn't fallen to them.

"Are you serious? Is it appropriate for a police officer to say something like that? I need medical help! You inhuman bastards!"

Frank panicked; he was genuinely afraid that Bianca would cut off his medication.

"He's right, don't listen to these poisonous insects. They're full of nonsense, not a single word of it is true."

Tim thought of Elizabeth, his wife.

Elizabeth's affair made him hate poisoners to the core.

Upon hearing this, Bianca glanced at Frank, then at the two male police officers beside her, whose physiques and looks rivaled those of supermodels.

Clearly, these two policemen were more credible than the smelly drunkard lying in bed, no matter what.

"I understand, officers. I'll arrange for his discharge right away."

"No! You can't do this! What you're doing is inhumane!" Frank spread his hands, his face full of dissatisfaction.

"Let's talk about humanity after you pay the medical bills you owe the hospital, Frank." At this moment, the nurse, who had received Bianca's permission, looked at Frank with a smile.

To be honest, Frank should have been kicked out a long time ago.

Bianca was completely new to the area and didn't know this bastard at all, so she was fooled by him.

After watching Frank being forcibly lifted from the hospital bed and "escorted" out by several burly nurses.

Bianca then looked at Levi and Tim: "Thanks for the reminder, officers."

"It's just something I did, don't worry about it." Li Wei waved his hand, not taking it too seriously.

Speaking of which, Bianca has had a pretty tough time.

I studied hard until I was over thirty. I successfully transitioned from a resident physician to a fully licensed doctor.

Just when everything was on track, fate played a cruel joke on her.

He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

On the other hand, a scoundrel like Frank has been living a perfectly good life, even though his liver was damaged by drinking.

Under this ridiculous system, they haven't even given him a free replacement.

In Li Wei's view, this is a great insult to organ donors.

Seeing Bianca and Levi chatting and laughing, Tim patted Levi on the shoulder.

"Rookie, I'm leaving."

...

After leaving the hospital, in the police car.

"Aren't we going to investigate the site of Frank's attack?"

Li Wei glanced at Tim, still thinking about going back to check and see if there was anything he had missed at the scene.

"Nah, it's perfectly normal for addicts like this to get attacked. It was probably some small-time drug dealer. If they won't pay for drugs, they'll use their legs. They're lucky they didn't cut off his legs. No need to waste your energy."

"Listen, rookie. The LAPD doesn't have as many people as the NYPD. We need to focus our efforts on real crimes."

Hearing this, Li Wei was relieved.

"Yes, sir!"

...

The sandy land below the overpass.

The police car slowly came to a stop.

Tim stepped out of the police car: "I managed to embed us in a raid. How about that, rookie? If you're going to back out, say so now."

Upon hearing about the surprise attack, Li Wei showed no fear whatsoever; in fact, his eyes gleamed with excitement.

This kind of operation, which can only be carried out by detectives, means that the targets are serious criminals, and serious criminals mean more rewards.

He has a [Scapegoat Coin] on him, so there's really nothing to be afraid of.

Tim noticed the excitement and fearlessness in Li Wei's eyes.

The more he looked at it, the more he admired it, and he even considered swapping his rookie with Lopez's.

"Detective Sain!" Not far away, several plainclothes police officers got out of two ordinary Ford sedans.

"Haha, Bradford! Haven't you considered leaving the patrol unit and joining our Major Crimes Unit?"
