America, starting as a trainee police officer

Chapter 49 VIP Ride-Sharing Experience Day

Gray said, looking at Lopez, "Officer Lopez, you go first."

"Simple, guard the body."

As soon as Lopez finished speaking, the police officers present burst into laughter, all agreeing with her statement.

"Very honest." Gray looked at Bradford beside him. "Bradford, what's your answer?"

"We conducted door-to-door checks even on rainy days."

"Bishop?"

"Driving the rickety tour bus was nauseating."

"Without a doubt," Gray agreed with their statements.

"But for me, the worst task is to experience the work of a patrol officer as a VIP."

As he spoke, he walked to the podium and wrote the words "VIP Experience Patrol Police Work" on the whiteboard behind him with a black pen.

"Bishop, explain why I dislike it the most when important people experience police work."

"Because if anything happens to an important person, the patrol officers in the same vehicle will be held responsible. Therefore, the patrol officers in the same vehicle can only accept dispatches with the lowest level of danger."

"This makes the twelve-hour shift twice as long."

After Bishop finished speaking, Bradford added, "Besides, if the important person in the car is a famous socialite who's always wearing perfume, who could stand being cooped up together all day?"

"Damn Stright!"

Gray pointed to Bradford, then walked over to Levi with his arms crossed: "Levi, given your excellent performance in cooperating with the FBI operation recently, this important VIP experience mission will be entrusted to you and Officer Lopez."

"Come on!!! Really? Is it too late for me to ask for leave now?"

Upon hearing this news, Lopez was the first to express his dissatisfaction.

Recently, someone in the Major Crimes Unit is preparing to retire, and there happens to be a vacancy to fill it.

Both she and Bishop are preparing to compete for this spot.

If even the slightest mistake were made while accompanying this VIP today, she would be in serious trouble.

So she was quite reluctant.

"It's too late. Okay, that's it. Get ready to go on patrol. Be careful out there. Also, Lee and Lopez, go to the police chief's office. The VIP guests are waiting there."

As Gray spoke the last sentence, a mocking smile appeared on his face.

...

In Anderson's office.

An elderly man with gray hair was squatting down, looking at the branch office's honor display wall.

"Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to experience this."

"That's to be expected. The LAPD has always been responsive to Hollywood's conventional needs," Zoe smiled slightly.

"Hmm, you won't encounter any danger, right? Haha."

"Sorry, I'm not looking for a thrill. It's just that my film series recently decided to move from New York to Los Angeles for filming, and I was thinking of taking a stroll around the streets to find inspiration and see where the best filming locations in Los Angeles are."

"Which movie series?" Zoe asked curiously.

"The 'Fire and the World' theory," the white-haired man replied.

At that moment, Li Wei and Lopez arrived at the door and knocked.

"Mr. Payne, allow me to introduce you. This is Constable Lee and Constable Lopez. You will be traveling with them in the same patrol car today."

Upon seeing the two enter, Zoe quickly introduced them.

"It's an honor to meet you." Payne came over and shook hands with Levi and Lopez respectively.

He then looked at Zoe and said, "Inspector Anderson, thank you very much to the LAPD for giving me this opportunity. I understand the rules of life, so please feel free to assign any level of duty to me. Don't worry about me."

"Thank you for your cooperation, but the police department will definitely make sure you see some real scenes."

"Great!" Payne wanted to hear that.

After cheering Payne up and getting him out of the office, Zoe's smile faded, and she looked at Levi and Lopez with a stern face: "We absolutely cannot let him take a single dangerous step! Do you understand?"

"Understood, sir." x2

After speaking, Lopez and Levi exchanged a glance, and Levi clearly saw the helplessness in Lopez's eyes.

After leaving the office, Levi, Lopez, and Payne headed towards the parking garage.

On the way, Payne reached into his pocket and pulled out a wallet.

"Tell me, how much money do I need to bribe you to let me witness a real shootout? Don't forget, I have plenty of what people call 'dirty money'."

I saw a thick stack of Franklin (US dollars in 100-dollar denominations).

Lopez immediately refused: "Please take the money away, or you can forget about this ride together."

After saying that, she left first.

Payne looked at Levi, but still didn't put the money away.

To be honest, if there weren't cameras all around, Li Wei would have really wanted to take the money. If you want to see a big scene in Los Angeles, it's easy; just head to the city center.

Grand scenes were everywhere.

Gang fights, drug trafficking, and all sorts of other things happen there.

"Uncompromising? Huh?"

"Section 67 of the California Penal Code classifies bribing government officials as a felony. A conviction typically carries a two- to three-year state jail sentence and a $10,000 fine."

Li Wei didn't answer, but gave Payne a brief explanation of the law before following Lopez.

It's not worth giving up the system's rewards and the identity of a police officer for a few hundred dollars.

...

Inside the police car.

Payne sat in the back seat, looking at the bulletproof vest he was wearing.

"Do I look fat in this outfit?"

Li Wei and Lopez exchanged a glance, ignoring the narcissist.

"Wilshire Police Department, shooting, location MacArthur Park."

Upon hearing about the shooting, Payne, sitting in the back seat, looked excitedly at Levi and Lopez through the safety netting: "Let's go with the police!"

Li Wei and Lopez exchanged another glance, seeing the helplessness in each other's eyes.

"Hey guys, this is an emergency! If you agree, we'll definitely provide you with Lakers VIP tickets printed with your names on them!"

After being educated by Li Wei about the seriousness of bribery, Payne chose to use tickets that money couldn't buy as a bribe.

"Sorry, I'm not a Lakers fan." Lopez looked out the window and shook his head.

"Lee, don't do this, say something for me." Seeing that Lopez disagreed, Payne looked at Levi.

"Me? I'm still in my internship period, I don't have the authority to make decisions. Only the TO can make the decision on receiving the call."

Before Li Wei could finish speaking, the radio broadcast another report: "7-A-07, suspected criminal activity codenamed 459 has been detected at No. 910, Haikandi."

What does 459 represent?

From behind the car, Payne watched the two of them curiously.

Lopez ignored him and picked up the radio: "7-A-07, emergency call."

"What exactly is 459?" Payne asked anxiously.

"A truly reliable police job!" Lopez didn't want to explain to him; she just wanted to get through the day peacefully.

But Payne clearly wasn't very bright, and thought he was in for a real big event.

He immediately smiled and said, "Yea!"

He excitedly rubbed his hands together in the back seat.

...

Outside a nice-looking luxury house at No. 910, Haikandi.

"Seriously? You missed the shooting, and now you're bringing me this?"
