America, starting as a trainee police officer

Chapter 51 Black Family Disputes

To be honest, the old white-haired Deng wasn't wrong.

Li Wei preferred catching drug dealers rather than going on patrols that didn't earn him any rewards.

At least they should reward those who arrest these people.

"Excuse my bluntness, but I don't believe you have the ability to handle high-risk police calls."

Similarly, Angela also wants to solve some big cases to add to her resume and compete with Bishop for the detective nomination list.

Once she was recognized, after her boss patted her on the shoulder.

(The default rule in the LAPD is that once your boss pats you on the shoulder and tells you to take the detective exam, it means you have a 90% chance of being promoted. This is one of the police department's strange tales.)

She only needs to pass the detective exam to become a full-fledged detective in the LAPD.

At that time, not only will wages and benefits increase, but social status will also rise significantly.

They can also avoid carrying these heavy patrol gear every day, wear plain clothes to work, and not carry body cameras.

"Oh, really? Is this some kind of reverse psychology tactic?"

"No, it's just based on basic observation. I've seen one of your many films."

"What? You don't like it?"

"The movie is okay, but it has nothing to do with actual police work."

Lopez and Payne's conversation was interrupted by the radio.

"7-A-07, 9386 Ninth Avenue, has a police report with code 415."

What does code 415 mean?

Payne became curious again.

"A family dispute. Maybe it was just a loud argument."

"It's not far from here," Payne said with a hint of interest and a slightly teasing tone.

Angela was a little reluctant, but she picked up the walkie-talkie anyway.

Domestic disputes are considered low-risk police calls.

"7-A-07 emergency call received."

"Yea~" Payne shouted happily when he saw that the call had been answered.

...

9386 Ninth Street is a very ordinary American-style house.

On the lawn in front of the house.

A family of Black people are surrounding a large, fat Black man.

The piercing alarm was beeping.

"No! Don't panic! Brother! Everyone makes mistakes!"

A lean, black man was looking at his younger brother with a panic, mainly because his brother was much bigger than the others.

"It's okay! Calm down!"

"No! Shut up!"

"Thai!"

"Hey bro! You scared Mom!"

"Don't do that!"

A group of Black people were acting haphazardly.

The big guy named Tyson seems to have some intellectual disabilities.

At that moment, the police car pulled up to the side of the road.

Li Wei, Lopez, and Payne got out of the car.

"Finally, something's starting!" Payne exclaimed excitedly, seeing the group of Black men looking so nervous.

"You! Stay out of the way!" Lopez looked at Payne, not wanting him to come any closer.

Payne realized that the scene was a bit chaotic, so he didn't argue. Instead, he stood at a distance, took out his phone, and prepared to gather information.

"Thai! Thai! Everything will be alright!"

"Shut up!"

Tyson and his brother are still arguing.

"Everyone, raise your hands." Lopez approached.

"Get away! Get away!"

Tyson's older brother saw the police and became agitated: "Hey! Don't come any closer! We don't need the police!"

"Get away!" But Tyson's condition quickly refuted his statement.

Seeing this, Tyson's older brother got angry and yelled at their elderly mother, "Mom! I told you not to call the police!"

"Oh! The police will shoot!"

At this point, it was unclear whether the other black man was out of fear or stirring up trouble.

But to be honest, Li Wei really wanted to pull out his gun.

The main problem is that the scene is very chaotic right now.

These black people don't listen to people.

Lopez asked them to raise their hands so the police could see them, also for the safety of both parties.

They refused to cooperate, and the police were unable to determine whether they were in any danger.

"Everyone here! Raise your hands above your heads!"

Lopez was getting impatient and repeated the order loudly again.

"Get away!!!"

Tyson clearly has intellectual disabilities; his body is shaking uncontrollably, and he keeps hitting his head with one hand.

"Now!!!"

Lopez placed his hand on the butt of the gun.

Seeing this, the black men became a little more obedient and reluctantly raised their hands.

Seeing the people around him raise their hands, Tyson followed suit and raised both hands as well.

He instantly revealed the knife he was holding in his other hand.

"knife!"

Li Wei had just sensed that things weren't so simple, and sure enough, they weren't.

He immediately shouted, drew his sidearm, and aimed it at Tyson.

"Put down the knife! Sir! Put down the weapon immediately!"

Li Wei shouted loudly.

This startled Tyson.

He instinctively pointed the knife at Levi and Lopez, as if he wanted to fight them with weapons.

"No no no no!!!"

Tyson shouted excitedly.

"Put down the knife!" Lopez shouted as well.

"Don't shoot! Don't shoot!" the older brother beside him cried anxiously.

"Tyson! It's okay! Listen to them!"

At this point, Mom tried to calm Tyson down.

"Please, put down the knife!"

"I did something bad! I, Tyson, did something bad!" Tyson didn't put down the knife, but kept hitting his head.

"Put down the knife! I'm not kidding!" Li Wei warned again when Tyson still hadn't put down the knife.

"He doesn't understand you! Don't do that! He didn't mean to hurt anyone! He only has the mental capacity of a child! He has no idea how big he is!"

Listening to his mother crying and explaining so much to the police, Tyson's older brother felt incredibly aggrieved.

He immediately lowered his raised hands and shouted sternly at Li Wei and Angela, "Listen! I can't stand by and watch you hurt my brother!"

"Back off! Immediately!" Li Wei shouted sternly as the black man approached.

He then placed his finger on the trigger.

Glock is a safetyless design; it can be fired simply by pulling the trigger.

Li Wei's action was tantamount to disengaging the safety on his gun.

Seeing this, Tyson's brother didn't dare to make a move.

He could only stare fiercely at Li Wei.

"Everyone! Calm down!" Lopez shouted.

"He's confused! He's confused by the alarm! I... I shouldn't have yelled at him."

Tyson's mother was in tears, as if she deeply regretted her actions.

Li Wei, standing to the side, scoffed. "Do you really regret it so much? You knew your son was mentally challenged, so why weren't you more patient?"

Oh, something happened, the police arrived, and you only regretted it then?

Li Wei truly felt no sympathy whatsoever for the plight of Black people in America.

People of color, whether Asian or Latino, are not treated this way by the police.

Even police officers with black skin are extra vigilant when dealing with black suspects.

Skin tone speaks for itself.

"Could someone go and turn off the alarm?" Lopez sighed as she listened to the Black mother's words.
