I train Batman in a horror world

Chapter 31: Bruce Who Wants to Catch Ghosts

Early the next morning.

As soon as Uncle Nine came out of the house, he saw Bruce alone in the yard, reading a book.

Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that Bruce was only looking at a dictionary.

Why do we need to look at this thing when we can communicate normally...?

"Good morning, Uncle Jiu."

Bruce stood up and greeted Uncle Nine when he saw him.

Although Fu'er claimed he was there to take him on as an apprentice, Uncle Jiu hadn't given a definite answer. He wouldn't just call him that out of nowhere.

"Why are you up so early?"

Uncle Nine casually agreed and looked toward the room where Bruce was staying. A bat was hanging upside down from the eaves, its whole body covered by its wings, and it looked like it was sleeping soundly.

Bruce shook his head: "I can't sleep."

Actually, the bed board was too hard, so I didn't even want to stay in bed.

Without Fu Bao to liven things up, Bruce suddenly felt the atmosphere was a bit awkward, and for a moment he didn't know what to talk about.

Uncle Nine seemed to have figured it out as well, so he took the initiative to bring up the matter of becoming an apprentice.

"Bruce..."

"I'm listening!"

"There's no need to be so loud."

Uncle Nine coughed a few times and said, "I've spoken with the spirit beside you... The mortuary isn't short-handed right now, but considering your steadfast will... I'll just take you on as a disciple."

Is your willpower firm?

It seems they didn't give enough gold bars.

Bruce thought to himself, and then he heard Uncle Nine say this:

"Although I am a disciple in name only, it is only my personal wish."

"..."

Uncle Nine had already examined Bruce's face; the boy's fate was intricate and complicated, as messy as a ball of yarn.

It wasn't just because of that bat; on the contrary, without that bat, Uncle Nine even felt that the child would be in even more disarray!

Definitely a cursed lone star!

"A disciple who is registered in name is still a disciple."

Uncle Nine stood with his hands behind his back, his tone neither too loud nor too soft: "I will teach you what I should teach you. How much you learn depends on your own destiny. As for what I shouldn't teach you... we'll talk about it later."

Bruce nodded seriously, without asking what he meant by "things that shouldn't be taught".

I don't know when Ful woke up.

It loosened its claws, flapped its wings, and landed on Bruce's shoulder, its dark eyes fixed on Uncle Nine.

"Five or six gold bars only get you a nominal disciple?" Falcon said indignantly on Bruce's behalf.

"It's just not on the genealogy." Uncle Nine glanced at it.

Fol grunted twice and didn't say anything more.

Bruce looked at Uncle Nine, hesitated for a moment, and then asked, "Should I call you Master?"

Just call me Uncle Nine.

Uncle Nine waved his hand and left the courtyard.

How come he didn't realize Wen Cai could sleep so much? Bruce gets up earlier than him!

As soon as Uncle Nine left, Foul whispered in Bruce's ear:

"Let me tell you, Wencai and Qiusheng haven't really learned anything. They're just all show and no substance. As long as you use your cleverness, it'll be easy to win Uncle Jiu's favor!"

"Uncle Jiu said that how much I can learn depends on my own fate."

Bruce didn't really want to talk to Fowler.

Foul said urgently, "Then you absolutely must learn lightning magic! When you debut, you can whip lightning and show off all by yourself, without Gotham needing to create the atmosphere for you!"

Bruce stuck a finger into its mouth and continued looking at the dictionary.

A short while later.

Uncle Nine and a sleepy-eyed Wen Cai returned to the courtyard, seemingly there specifically to call Bruce.

"Bruce, pack your things quickly and come with me."

"Are we going to catch ghosts?"

Bruce was a little nervous.

Are we going to start doing this first thing in the morning?!

The mentor that Holmes found for himself is really dedicated!

"No, it's just that Master has never drunk foreign tea before, so he thought he'd bring you along so it wouldn't be so embarrassing!" Wencai said.

"what?"

Uncle Nine couldn't help but slap Wen Cai on the back of the head. "Since Bruce is here, I don't think we need you anymore. You can guard the mortuary yourself!"

"No, Master! I've never seen foreign tea before!"

"..."

Bruce went to town with Uncle Nine and the others.

He thought he was going to catch ghosts, but it turned out he was just going to drink foreign tea.

What other foreign teas are there besides coffee?

Bruce felt that he was being discriminated against.

......

Upon arriving in town, Bruce discovered that Uncle Nine's fame was far greater than he had imagined.

Almost everyone who sees Uncle Nine greets him.

Good morning, Uncle Jiu!

"Good morning!"

"Hey, Uncle Nine, when did you take on a foreign apprentice? He's strangely handsome, is he married?"

"They're still young!"

"Marriage planning should start from a young age; look at how many men are still single!"

"..."

Bruce couldn't help but complain to Fowler, "This isn't what I expected!"

Foul asked in confusion, "What's different?"

Bruce said, "Shouldn't we be out ghost hunting? Why are we so idle?"

"Silly boy, the sea is always calm before the storm. But when you see the real zombies later, don't wet your pants!"

"cut."

Fowler was not at all surprised by Bruce's slight impatience.

Looking at it now, it was right at the beginning of the Mr. Zombie storyline.

Uncle Nine went to discuss an auspicious day for relocating the grave with Master Ren, and then on the day of opening the coffin, he discovered that Master Ren had become a zombie.

Then comes the classic zombie quest to find blood relatives and increase their strength.

To be fair, if it weren't for those two troublemakers, Wencai and Qiusheng, Old Master Ren could have avoided becoming a zombie.

I wonder if Bruce's presence can prevent this from happening.

Foll silently pondered as he entered a Western restaurant with Bruce and the others.

Upon entering the restaurant, a waiting waiter led Uncle Nine and the others to their reserved private room.

"Oh, Uncle Jiu, you've finally arrived..."

"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting, Master Ren."

Master Ren was a well-known wealthy merchant in the town, with a prosperous demeanor.

The first thing he noticed when he saw Uncle Nine and the others was Bruce, who looked like a doll.

"What is this?" Master Ren asked curiously.

"The newly accepted disciple can be called Bruce." Uncle Nine didn't explain much, and then briefly introduced Master Ren to Bruce.

"Greetings, Mr. Ren." Bruce was very obedient.

"Hello, hello..."

Mr. Ren even started using English, somewhat surprised by Bruce's arrival.

However, he did not forget why he had come to see Uncle Nine in the first place.

"Ninth Uncle, about the matter of exhuming and reburying my late father..."

"Mr. Ren, you should think this through carefully..."

Because of Bruce's presence, Uncle Nine and the others naturally didn't make a fool of themselves in front of Master Ren.

But Bruce felt he shouldn't have come here in the first place!

He came to confront new fears and gain experience.

He wants to catch ghosts!

Bruce grew angrier the more he thought about it, so he picked up the milk that Master Ren had ordered for him and drank it all in one gulp!

He's going to catch a ghost!
