Chapter 16 The Insignificant Man Overwhelmed by Misfortune

"Unlock the shackles too." Richard looked at the other man's two thick, hairy legs under his linen shorts, encased in old-fashioned iron chains as thick as wrists.

The treatment you receive depends on your abilities.

Only heroes of this caliber deserve to wear such a medal as proof of their strength.

The man with the mustache glanced at Richard, then at the enormous creature in the cage, which was at least 2.2 meters tall, and his expression seemed to ask, "Are you sure?"

"Don't make me remind you a second time." Richard raised an eyebrow.

The man with the mustache wiped the fine beads of sweat from his forehead, steeled his resolve, and decided to go all in.

With another click, the shackles fell to the ground.

The panda slowly stood up, and the moment it stood completely upright, even Richard unconsciously tilted his head slightly.

It was a full two heads taller than Richard!

The air in the room seemed to freeze.

Several slave guards gripped their spears tightly, their knuckles turning white from the effort.

The panda looked down at Richard.

Richard looked up at it.

The two of them stared at each other, neither looking away.

After a long silence, the panda spoke, in fairly fluent Common: "Why?"

"Why? Why?" Richard smiled slightly.

"Why me?" the panda said. "My brothers and I refuse to be sold like merchandise."

"Because of your eyes," Richard said.

"Eyes?"

"I like your eyes; they have a third of my bravado." The prince uttered the most pretentious words in the calmest tone.

Judging from physical attributes alone, the Eastern Behemoth in the cage could kill a brown bear with just a few punches and kicks.

Even a layman could see at a glance that this Eastern Behemoth could crush the prince in front of him like a bug with just one finger.

The atmosphere suddenly turned cold, then punctuated by soft laughter.

Richard suddenly looked at the man with the mustache next to him and demanded, "What are you laughing at?"

The smile on the man with the mustache's face froze, as if someone had grabbed his throat.

"Your Highness, I...I didn't laugh." His voice was weak.

"You smiled." Richard looked away, his tone as flat as if he were stating the weather. "And you smiled very happily."

The panda warrior glanced at the pale face of the man with the mustache, and his thick neck tilted slightly.

"He did smile," the panda said.

The man with the eight-character mustache, in charge, said: "..."

Damn it!

He was desperate, cursing in his heart a certain Eastern Behemoth who looked thick-browed and big-eyed but was actually treacherous.

The man with the mustache trembled slightly before finally choosing the smartest course of action—kneeling down with a thud.

"Your Highness, spare my life!"

Although the royal family had been fighting the rebels for a year, and the situation was said to be far from optimistic.

But Augustus still sits on the throne, and even if a hundred Perch bearmen were to risk their lives, the Bearded Lord wouldn't dare offend a prince.

Richard felt a pang of melancholy; the feeling of using power to oppress others was simply exhilarating.

It's just unknown how long his title of prince will last.

"Richard, an Enpe from the continent of Assassin." Richard turned his gaze to the Eastern Behemoth before him and extended his fist.

"According to your local terminology, I should be called Sid, a guard from the Eastern Continent." Sid suddenly seemed a little lost, looking at the solemn-looking human in front of him, and finally lightly exchanged fist bumps with Richard.

West Germany was somewhat annoyed; it had originally intended to intimidate this noble human with its cold demeanor.

But this move didn't seem to work on the opponent at all; instead, it excited him even more.

"Sir, please do not associate with us, or we will bring you misfortune." A hint of sadness lingered in Sid's dark circles.

His Highness sensed within those eyes a story full of dramatic twists and turns, but this story was deliberately concealed, and only those who were equally heroic could perceive its unintentional unfolding.

"Why do you say that?" The eldest duchess felt that the other party was not as terrible as the man with the mustache described, so she lowered her guard a little and peeked out from behind the prince to ask curiously.

"My beautiful lady, our merchant ships were swallowed by the treacherous sea, and in the end, only we, the warriors who brought misfortune, survived." Sid was reluctant to say these words.

But Richard's posture, his straight back, his calm and composed demeanor, and his eyes that radiated fearlessness.

It gave West Germany a sense of familiarity and overlapped with a shadow deep in their hearts.

"The insignificant are overwhelmed by misfortune, but the great overcome it!" Sylvie said.

What were meant to be comforting words came across as sarcastic because of the cold expression on his face.

"Well said!" Richard immediately responded with thunderous applause.

No wonder he's a top student who graduated from the Gundon Military Academy; his words are so philosophical.

Sid could tell that the beautiful human girl was not hostile at all; she was just feeling melancholy on her own.

"West Germany, people always have to look forward. I don't believe in bad luck. So, how about it, interested in hanging out with me?" Richard patted the sturdy arm of the iron tower and couldn't help but grin.

Damn, with such a burly physique, it would be a waste not to equip him with weapons!

Sid smiled wryly, about to refuse, when Richard interrupted him.

"I'm a prince, for goodness' sake. Don't be so disrespectful!" Richard stared at the other man. "You don't want your companions to be your slaves for life, only to part ways in the end, do you?"

"To be honest, I think only I have the ability to buy all of you at once."

In fact, His Highness was lying. He couldn't afford these Eastern warriors at all unless he sold everything except his underwear.

It's just that when you're out in the world, you have to give yourself your own identity.

West Germany was taken aback and looked at the cage, where dozens of black and white heads poked out.

It fell silent for a moment, then looked at Richard with some concern and said, "Sir, I'd like to know, can you provide us with enough food?"

No wonder it asked that question.

Ever since they were deceived by the cunning slave traders, they have been starving, and the food provided is barely enough to fill their stomachs.

"Food and lodging included! And we'll even provide fresh bamboo!" Richard made a grand promise.

"Green bamboo?" West Germany was taken aback.

It never expected that this young prince would know the food that the Panta people loved most.

Almost instantly, West Germany made up its mind.

"My lord, we, the Panta people, are loyal to you!"

Seeing that the two had reached an agreement, the person in charge breathed a sigh of relief and got up from the ground.

In any case, these Eastern Behemoths were finally sold.
