Chapter 16 Gryffindor Jokes

Chapter 16 Gryffindor Jokes

Given Louis's limited herbalism knowledge, particularly his inability to distinguish between celery and cilantro, he did not receive any extra points in class. (Due to caching issues, please access the website directly through your browser for the fastest chapter updates.)

On the contrary, Hermione, the know-it-all, kept adding points for Gryffindor, making Draco, who was green with envy, keep pouting.

The inability to distinguish between cilantro and celery is just a joke. The difficulty in herbal medicine lies not in identification, but in how to cultivate herbs.

In the very first Charms class, Louise used a level 5 Fluorescent Blink to give Professor Flitwick a real eye-opener.

"Excellent spell! Slytherin, five points!" Little Professor Flitwick stood on a pile of books, jumping and gesturing excitedly.

The History of Magic course was incredibly boring. Thanks to Professor Binns's monotonous teaching style, the entire class was drowsy, reminding Louis of his old math teacher in his junior high school days.

His deskmate once exaggeratedly told him that the teacher had only bent down to pick up a piece of chalk on the podium, and half of the class had collapsed.

Louis didn't doze off in the History of Magic class—he simply slept soundly.

Anyway, the history of magic was his usual reading material for leisure, just like how he always kept a few history books next to the toilet in his past life. Rather than listening to Professor Binns recite scriptures, he might as well take a nap in this pleasant hypnotic environment.

Professor Binns, being polite: You?

It's not really his fault; even the usually diligent and studious Miss Know-It-All was kowtowing incessantly.

When get out of class ended, Lewis was told that Snape was waiting for him in his office.

"Oh, look who's here. Isn't this the big shot from Slytherin?" Snape said sarcastically without even looking up as Louise stepped into Snape's office.

"I'm no big shot, Professor Snape."

Louis's attitude was neither humble nor arrogant.

"You are very modest, Mr. Mountbatten."

Snape's expression was neither gloomy nor cheerful.

"Humility is one of my few virtues, Professor. You have such keen insight."

"Mrs. Pomfrey told me that the door to Mr. Lestrange, the head of Slytherin, had been locked without permission—I suppose Mr. Mountbatten will give me a reasonable explanation?"

Snape's tone was always drawn out, as greasy as his hair.

"Professor, you know me well," Louis said innocently. "Why would an honest, simple person like me deliberately cause trouble?"

"Of course I know you, Mr. Mountbatten." Snape forced a smile that was hardly better than a grimace. "You're so young yet already possess such extraordinary skills. I understand that conflicts between classmates are unavoidable, so I'm just reminding you to try your best not to cause them irreparable psychological trauma."

"Of course, Professor, I'm very honest," Louis replied obediently.

"I must say, you've redefined the word 'honest'," Snape said, his expression complex.

"Thank you for your compliment, Professor."

Louis looked embarrassed and glanced to his right—on a display shelf on the wall was a glass bottle containing two large eyeballs, and his gaze met the eyes of those eyeballs, causing the white hairs on his arms to stand on end instantly.

He subtly shifted his gaze back to Snape's greasy hair, and had to admit, compared to his horrifying collection, the hair was actually more pleasing to the eye.

Snape choked for a moment, then said expressionlessly, "You don't seem to know how to distinguish between praise and sarcasm." He paused, then continued, "I hope you'll keep today's conversation in mind, Mr. Mountbatten. I am your Potions Professor, and also the Head of Slytherin."

He didn't say the next sentence, believing that a smart man like Louis would understand immediately.

"Thank you for your protection, Professor." Louis sincerely thanked Snape—he understood what Snape meant, of course. He could comfort the victim's family with a harmless joke like yesterday, but if he went too far, Snape would not be able to cover it up for him.

"I thought you were going to deduct points from my score," he said with a lighthearted remark to liven things up.

Snape smirked. "Do you think I'm Professor McGonagall?"

Upon hearing Professor McGonagall's name, Lewis recalled a joke from his past life and said with a smile, "Professor, I did hear a little joke from a Gryffindor student."

Snape looked at him with a puzzled expression.

Professor McGonagall was very displeased with the Weasley twins' nighttime outing, and she said to Percy Weasley, "I'm going to deduct points from Gryffindor!"

Percy thought for a moment and replied, "Please give Gryffin more points."

His ears were very sharp, and he clearly heard Snape make a "thud" sound.

"A very funny joke—you can go now."

Snape's expression was a little off; his cheeks seemed slightly flushed, but Louis couldn't see it clearly because his office was too dark.

He nodded and politely said goodbye to Snape. A second after closing the door, a deafening cough came from inside, followed by a loud bang as someone slammed their fist on the table.

When he returned to the Slytherin common room after dinner, Senior Sister Worley was sitting on the sofa in the common room hall, waiting for him with her legs crossed.

"If you're not punctual next time, you'll have to find your own way," the senior student said coldly.

"Sorry, Worley, Professor Snape just asked me to go to his office."

Louis explained truthfully that he couldn't afford to lose the living map he had finally managed to find.

Inside the room, where requests were always granted, the two practiced separately—it was unclear what the senior was practicing, and why she had to be so secretive about having a private room. Through the flimsy crack in the door, a sliver of eerie green light would occasionally flash by.

Is this woman practicing Avada Kedavra?

Forget it, I can't afford to mess with my senior. Louis decided to ignore what happened in that room, opened the spellbook, and selected two spells: Thunder Explosion and Blazing Fire.

When two skills appear in the skill tree, a notification sound will be heard from the system.

"New mission discovered: Nighttime exploration of the Forbidden Forest. Accept?"

Mission objective: Unknown.

Recommended level: 10.

"Quest Reward: Rune El, Rune Ed, Rune Tir (choose one)"

There was no way he could refuse; without a second thought, Louis immediately accepted.

Although he didn't know what the runes did, it didn't stop him from collecting them—how could something that could become a system task reward be ordinary?

Looking at the door that was constantly emitting a faint green light, Louis hesitated, wondering whether he should ask his senior to go with him.

Go call her... What if she discovers that her senior is practicing Avada Kedavra and, in a fit of rage, chooses to kill her?

If we don't call him... as someone who has no sense of direction, by the time he reaches the Forbidden Forest, the first class of the morning might already be over.
