Chapter 276 Catherine: I've disliked it for a long time...
Harry performed exceptionally well in keeping his promise. His sudden shift to an optimistic and positive attitude towards learning not only surprised Ron and Hermione, but even the professors were a little taken aback.
Especially Professor Snape.
"What tricks are you up to, Pott!" Snape sat behind his desk, looking at Harry coldly, somewhat unaccustomed to Harry's sudden interest in studying.
It's hard to get used to, but the previous owner of those green eyes was truly a studious person...
Thinking of this, Snape's cold expression actually softened a little.
If Harry was interested in Potions, Snape would be happy to teach him everything he knew—but his attitude would certainly not be easy for Harry.
"You're a bit of a pervert, bro," Ron said to Harry, who was practicing spells in the dormitory.
"I want to punch you," Harry replied.
Ron shrugged, feeling a bit awkward. He watched Harry practicing hard for a while, then, feeling bored, he pulled out a stack of exploding cards from his drawer and started building a castle.
This is a very interesting card game. If you fail, your face will be blasted black, making it a stressful way to play.
Ron was clearly enjoying himself and didn't care about his good brother who was buried in his books.
The homework during the holidays was quite heavy. Because Professor Snape was the first to open the book without any sense of morality, other teachers followed suit, and the students were unlucky enough to have to face endless homework during the holidays.
Influenced by Hogwarts, Beauxbatons Headmistress Maxime also asked the teachers to assign some winter break homework to the students and to grade it after the start of the new semester. Of course, this was not free; Madam Maxime offered to provide the Hogwarts teachers with the necessary materials for their academic research.
Of course, the professors weren't like that, but Mrs. Maxim was really offering a lot. In other words, don't even think about us taking on your students—you'll have to pay extra.
When Karkaroff found out, he wanted to join in the fun, but the old man was clearly stingy and just wanted to get the professors' labor for free, so he was naturally rejected.
The homework is so heavy, but to be honest, no one is really focused on doing it. Everyone is preoccupied with the upcoming dance.
Students are allowed to go home for the Christmas holidays, but this year's Christmas holidays are different from previous years. Due to the Triwizard Tournament and the ball, few students are willing to go home, and the castle is as lively as it is when there is no holiday.
Holidays are a time for everyone to relax and have fun, and nobody wants to be in charge during holidays, so the castle is much noisier than usual, creating a lively holiday atmosphere.
Some professors had strong opinions about this, such as Professor Snape, who wished to remain anonymous. As a result, within a radius of a dozen meters from his office, any student who approached would immediately stop their antics and behave as a well-behaved student, no matter how lively they had been before.
The reason for doing this was that Seamus and Justin, the last two to have a ruckus outside Professor Snape's door, were still dealing with slugs in Snape's office.
With such a precedent set, those who follow will certainly not be caught off guard.
That said, those who are still being caught by Snape deserve it; any normal person would know to avoid them...
It's only because Seamus and Justin didn't learn their lesson; they had nothing better to do than go to Snape's office. They deserved to be punished.
No one sympathized with them; in fact, they wanted to teach them a lesson.
For this, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff each had ten points deducted, for disturbing the professor's potion-making during the holidays.
The Weasley twins were also quite happy lately; their canary cookies were selling very well. For the first couple of days of their vacation, people were frequently seen popping out covered in feathers. However, they quickly learned their lesson and became very wary of food offered to them, lest someone hide a big surprise inside.
"Timeo danaos et dona ferentes," Louis said to Ron, who was covered in feathers, as he ate in the auditorium.
"Quack?" The uncultured Ron quacked like a duck, clearly not understanding what Louis meant.
"Louis's telling you to watch out for sweet talk," Hermione said helplessly from the side. "You really have no memory. Haven't you been tricked by those two countless times since you were little? I can't believe you've fallen for the same two people so many times, really..."
Hermione looked utterly helpless; she was somewhat desperate about how clueless her boyfriend was.
"I didn't expect this either..." Ron scratched his head vigorously.
"Alright, that's one of Ron's strengths, isn't it? You have to be more understanding, Hermione," Louise said with a smile. "His unconditional trust in friends and family—that's our Ron..."
"Oh, Louis..." Ron chuckled, his feathers trembling comically with his movements.
It must be said that Louis is indeed very skilled at praising people; Ron instantly forgot the slight unpleasantness of being tricked by Fred and George.
"You're in for a rough time." Louis looked at Hermione with a hint of pity. "You know, taking care of children is a difficult thing, especially when the children are still..." At this point, Louis tapped his temple with his finger. "You know what I mean."
"Sigh." Hermione sighed, glancing helplessly at Ron, who was still lost in his own world, before pulling a stack of papers from her bag. "Take a look, Louise, these are documents about the House-Elf Liberation Front..."
"That's not a very nice name, Hermione," Louis suggested. "Actually, it's a bit unlucky. Look at how badly the PLO has been devoured by the Tel Aviv forces."
"Uh, okay." Hermione accepted the suggestion. "So, what would be a good name?"
"That's up to you to handle. Just don't make any too outrageous changes," Louis chuckled. "Don't make it look like some kind of XX organization."
"Oh..." Hermione looked thoughtfully at the plan in her hand.
Louis shook his head slightly. This little girl was really something else. Perhaps if there was a chance in the future, he could introduce her to Ms. Gianna Proudmore.
At this age, Gianna is just as innocent and naive, and just as full of saintly compassion. However, Hermione is better off than her in that at least she doesn't sell out her father, nor does she have a dutiful boyfriend.
"Hey, isn't this little bird Ronnie?" the twins' voices rang out in unison. Then, Fred and George each put their arms around Ron. "Your colors are really vibrant right now, little Ronnie."
Ron turned around and glared at them, but didn't say anything.
After failing to impress Ron, the twins turned their attention to Hermione.
"Oh, Hermione, want a fry?" Fred magically produced a fry from somewhere and handed it to Hermione like it was a cigarette.
"Thank you, no thanks." Hermione politely declined. From the very first day she met the twins, she had warned herself never to accept anything from George and Fred, not even a single fry.
Besides, she's not a seagull; why would she fall for a French fry trick?
"Give me one," Louis said, reaching out to the twins. "I'll give one to someone else when I get back and see if she falls for it."
"Her?" the twins asked in unison, their faces showing extreme interest. "Are you going to give Miss Worley this fry? Don't tell me I didn't warn you, after you eat it you'll end up like our dear little Ronnie..."
"I'm not stupid..." Louis rolled his eyes at them both. "Feeding Catherine this stuff, I'd be like Ramses II committing suicide—he'd have a death wish..."
George and Fred exchanged a glance before handing him the fries with relief: "Now that they're not for Miss Worley, I'm relieved—I was really worried she'd get angry and bring it all back to us..."
"Look at you two, such cowards..." Louis scoffed. "Even if Catherine comes after you, what can she do? With me here, does she dare say no?"
The two of them simultaneously gave a thumbs up.
Louis flipped his fingers, stuffing the fries back in, and looked out of the Great Hall to see that it was snowing heavily again. Because Hogwarts is located in the Scottish Highlands, a high-latitude region, the sun had already set behind the mountains by 3 pm, and it was completely dark.
"It's snowing again," Hermione murmured, looking out the window.
The house-elves were already busy preparing hot stews and various exquisite desserts for the students of the three schools. Harry arrived late, close to four o'clock.
"Sorry, I've been in the Room of Requirement the whole time." Harry looked tired, but he was very happy.
"Lila taught you magic?" Louis asked abruptly.
"Yeah, I chuckled. I learned a few useful tips. I have to say, she's really amazing."
"Who is Lila?" Ron and Hermione asked with interest, as they always cared a lot about their good friend.
Harry suddenly blushed, staring blankly at the wand in his hand without saying a word.
"She's his dance partner." Louis winked at Harry, then said to Hermione and Ron, "You'll see at the ball, Lila's a really nice girl."
"What about Ginny?" Ron, the good older brother, hadn't forgotten his sister.
"We're not a good match," Harry said, sniffing. "Ginny's too young, and I don't have that... well, that feeling for her."
Louis coughed and translated for the two of them, "Let me translate for you, Harry likes older women..."
Harry's face turned even redder.
"The food at Hogwarts is so greasy..." Fleur, standing behind Hermione, frowned and clutched her stomach. "Oh dear, I miss the food at Beauxbatons..."
"If she could take into account the fact that her clothes are too small, then that statement would be even more convincing," Hermione whispered to the others, eliciting a burst of laughter.
Louis sat in his Slytherin seat, next to Catherine who was dining elegantly. He nudged her with his elbow, and when she looked at him, he smiled and said, "I've gotten my hands on some of George and Fred's latest creations. Would you like to try some?"
"What is it?" Catherine asked, raising an eyebrow with interest.
"It's those canary cookies; they disguised them as French fries." Louis glanced around suspiciously, and seeing that the person he wanted to see wasn't there, he said with a wicked grin, "Interested in making one for Sister Lian to try?"
Catherine's eyes widened immediately, and she said almost without hesitation, "Of course! How do you want to do it?"
"Of course, we'll find a chance to treat her to fries," Louis chuckled. "We'll definitely go home to see her this Christmas, though... Christmas Day is a dance, so that's out of the question. But we can wait until a couple of days after Christmas, go home, and cook her a nice meal, just to show our care for an elderly person living alone..."
"You dare call her an old woman? Be careful, she'll teach you a lesson if she finds out..." Catherine chuckled softly, seemingly not finding this too bad, and whispered, "You're right, she is an old woman, but she always likes to act young, hmph... I've disliked her for a long time!"
Louis gave a thumbs-up and praised, "That's right, that's my little moon! I admire your courage to declare war on evil forces!"
"You mean my mom's a criminal organization?" Catherine chuckled lightly. "That's not entirely wrong, anyway... I've decided I'm going to give her a little magical surprise!"
I learned this sentence structure from Lewis; for a while, he always liked to say it gave people a little Slytherin shock.
As it turns out, one becomes like those one associates with; the longer Catherine spends with Louis, the more she resembles him.
Sollian has been quite relaxed lately. With Christmas approaching, she has a rare holiday... Actually, it's not that rare. She's just too lazy to do her work at the Ministry of Magic and wants to focus on cheering on her daughter.
But Catherine didn't seem to accept it; she had a lot of complaints about her mother... mainly because Solanlian always liked to tease her when she had nothing to do.
Yukiko Kudo from the magical world belongs to that category.
"Don't worry, little moon." Louis nuzzled her cheek affectionately. "We have a long way to go. There will always be a chance for you to turn things around. Don't worry, I'll always be on your side."
At the same time, he silently vowed that if it were in front of Solanlian, he would definitely support her.
His flexibility in setting boundaries has always been one of his strengths (perhaps?).
